December HP Poll Results
Added 2025-12-03 17:46:09 +0000 UTCHeyo, all. Got a few things I’m going to be posting/doing today. A brief initial announcement: Hiryo’s got Journey 5 back to me. I’ll go through it with Grammarly (cue obligatory UGGGHGHH) and his notes, as well as, yep, saw your comments, Novus, and everyone else. Thanks! I will correct them and then, after posting the re-edited chapter, reply to those comments.
First, however, is the HP poll for December. I’ll remind you all that the winner of this poll is the only fic you’ll probably be getting posted and finished before the eighteenth. My plan after that is to get as much of the two other winners written via Dragon Naturally Speaking down so I can work on them during the rest of the month when I will be dealing with Enforced Family Time.
Yes, it needs the caps. As much as I love my bro and the toddling princess, I really could do without the rest of the family suddenly deciding that we all need to spend as much time as possible together.
Secondly, I’ve seen several comments about how people wanted to earn more votes for their favorite fics, and figured it was time to go over the rules of poles here again.
It is quite simple really. The amount of votes you have is the same in each poll and is dependent on the amount of money you pledge. For every dollar (US$1), you get four (4) votes. So if someone, say, pledges five ($5) they get twenty (20) votes in every poll you, the patron, wish to participate in.
You cannot triple up, that is, you can’t decide to vote only in one poll and get three times your normal number of votes in a single poll.
Most polls I post are thus weighted unless I say a poll is a numbers-only poll. Those specific types of polls tend to be surveys or opinion pieces, where I try to take the tenor of the clans, as John Ringo would put it.
I give myself 400 votes to use a month in any poll, but I always announce what polls I may take part in and what I will vote for when I post the initial thread. There is also the carry-over effect. This is a concept I came up with to make certain that stories are at least updated on occasionally when otherwise they don’t garner enough votes on their own to beat out more popular fics. The carry-over effect starts at one-fourths (1/4) of the votes it had the month previous, if it has been a month since a fic, while part of the rotation, has won. If it has been two months, it goes up to (1/2).
Whenever a fic wins the poll, it is removed from that poll the next month. Exceptions include if am trying to push hard to finish an arc, or a full a fic, like with FILFy in this poll.
I hope that is all clear. And now, for what you’re all here for.
This poll was… interesting. The voting was very close to even across the board. I didn’t expect that.
But, here we go:
Shockingly, Magic of the Force only brought in 810 votes, placing it in fourth. Huh. I gotta wonder if SW fans are now more interested in Going Off The Rails… forgetting it won’t become part of the HP rotation until Magic (and obviously FILFy) are done…
In third place was Fate Touched in Middle Earth, with 1,008 votes. Here, I think the idea of finishing FILFy certainly pulled away several of its normal voters.
However, thanks to the carry-over effect, FILFy Teacher did not win, instead coming in second place with 1,051.
Thus, with the 709 votes from the carry-over effect and original votes of 787, Bhaalson Remodel took the victory with a total of 1,496.
Next month, Fate Touched will get the ½ carry-over effect of 504.

That is an unexpected present. I'm always surprised when BR wins, lol.
