Derrick probably won't see this but most of the fear of clowns to a large majority of people comes back to the uncanny valley effect. The fear is often even if it's in the back of the mind that the only look like 'wrong humans' like mannequins. A fear of something you should totally understand but something about it is fundamentally wrong and it triggers fight or flight.
