Update 26th September 2022 – New transclusion options: Object status and note summary.

Object status - {{objectid.status}} (plus more options, see full release notes) - Allows for displaying the status of another object (or multiple other objects) in notes. Useful to create an ‘index’ object to see an overview of objects e.g. a quest with a number of tasks, or an organisation with members.

Note summary - {{objectid.summary}} - Show just the first few lines of the object notes rather than the entre field.

See release notes here for more options: https://help.the-goblin.net/update-26th-september-2022-new-transclusion-options/

Update 26th September 2022 – New transclusion options: Object status and note summary.

Comments

Other options you have are: to utilise the hidden notes sections (!!) to hide those parts that have not yet been encountered so the other people don't see the list of what's upcoming (then the summary line is hidden from them entirely). Or to use the hidden field inside the summarised object itself so there is nothing more than the object name that they can see (until you want to reveal more).

The Goblin

Unfortunately not as it stands. As the object isn't shared it effectively doesn't exist for the other user so the name isn't available to be displayed to them. It could be something to add in the future (much like you can give a custom name for object references) but not currently possible. As a workaround, you would need to manually add the heading line for the other object above the summary (which would quite possibly duplicate the heading)

The Goblin

I'm about to start a new campaign, using a cloned set of notes from my old campaign, looking to improve things and this is exactly the feature I was looking for, thanks for all the hard work! Though I have one question, when you include a summary, if the object isn't shared it seems to show the code, is there a way to make it pop up with solely the object name instead?
