That diminished chord in No One Else is just…. chef’s kiss. It’s soooo Natasha too. UGH.

One interesting aspect of this stage is that the orchestra is scattered about the stage and the conductor is in Pierre's sulking hole in the middle of the stage. As a result, there is a camera pointed at the conductor and several hidden screens around the stage so that the musicians and actors can see him no matter where they are.

29:24 That wasn’t Pierre; that was Andrey, Natasha's fiance, presumably reading her letter while away at war. Fun fact: The actor who plays Andrey also plays his father, Old Prince Bolkonsky, shown with his daughter Mary in the previous scene. Despite his absence, Andrey appears symbolically throughout the show in some interesting ways. The names Natasha and Natalie are both nicknames for Natalya, which are all used to address her in various contexts. Hence the line from the Prologue: “Everyone's got nine different names” 😆 I had the pleasure of watching this show on Broadway twice, and sat on stage both times. First with Josh Groban as Pierre, and then again with Dave Malloy as Pierre (the composer/orchestrator/librettist, who used to play Pierre before the show went to Broadway). They completely transformed the Imperial Theatre to create an immersive experience from the moment you enter the lobby until you leave. First you go through this tunnel that looks like an concrete underground bunker with graffiti and punk rock posters. Then you go through the stage doors and it feels like you're in an opulent Russian supper club mixed with an opera house, where the audience is served cocktails. They removed the first five rows of seats to build the stage. The pre-show announcer had a Russian accent and threatened the audience with the Soviet KGB if they misbehave during the show 😅 At times the ensemble even go into the upper levels and interact with the audience up there too. During the Prologue, Natasha came up to me, flipped open my program to the page with her profile, and sang in my face to “look it up in your program” 😆 I can only imagine how immersive the show was before Broadway when it was in a pop-up tent and the audience was served dinner like an actual supper club! As much as I enjoyed Denee Benton, I also would have loved to see Phillipa Soo as Natasha back then. She went straight from Julliard into this show, impressing Lin Manuel Miranda so much that she became Eliza in Hamilton. I recommend checking out her performance of No One Else if you get the chance. She's on the 2013 cast album as well.

I hope nobody is mad at you not fully getting the whole plot, even if the show wasn't spliced together like that, there's a reason the first song is basically just then telling the audience "please read the program we know this is confusing" haha
