Food Vibes: ✨Apple Crisp Recipe✨
Added 2025-10-21 15:00:14 +0000 UTCThis is quite possibly the easiest way to impress people with an autumnal dessert 🍂
I am starting to wonder if part of why I prefer baking to cooking is that I know a good number of super simple, but super delicious recipes... 😅 Apple crisp/crumble are such classic autumn desserts and are always such a hit at parties, thanksgiving dinners, and just for funsies to give yourself a sugar high and a food coma at the same time, maybe 😂
✨The Recipe✨
Ingredients:
6 large apples*
1/2 cup room temperature butter (I use salted 🤫)
1 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/3 cup old fashioned oats (quick oats are acceptable also, but will have a different texture)
1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375F
Peel and slice your apples and line them in a large casserole dish.
In a large bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until it's well mixed and fluffy. Sneak yourself a tiiiiny taste of brown sugar butter because you know you want to. Stir in the flour, oats, and cinnamon.
Sprinkle your crumbly mixture over the prepared apples.
Bake for 40 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown
That's it! Another easy one with not a lot of dishes!🥹
Tips:
I highly recommend using granny smith apples! They're a crisper apple, so they maintain a better texture when baked 😅 BUT if you do need to substitute, I would go with honey crisp or golden delicious! Keep in mind, if you use honey crisp or golden delicious, both are sweeter vs granny smith, so I'd use a little less sugar with these ones.
Most other apples aren't typically great for baking as they don't hold up as well and might end up kind of disintegrating and your baked goods will end up mushy
I like to slice my apples to about 1/4" thickness and neatly layer them, alternating which direction they're facing with each row. Is that necessary? Probably not 😂 But in my brain, it looks nicer and I think probably it bakes more evenly 🤷♀️
If you are using a sweeter apple, you can toss the slices in with a teaspoon of lemon juice and 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon to make spiced apples and help cut sweetness a bit
If you use a slightly softer apple, you can toss the slices in a bit of flour to minimize some of the juice in the bottom and keep it from becoming soupy
Have fun and enjoy! ☺️

Btw have you ever tried mixing apples types? 👀 one thing I learned from Alton Brown is to use a mix of apples to get the full range of apple-y flavors! Although that might work better for my style of baking where I just chaotically dump all the apples in 🤣 It’s ✨rustic✨ 😏
