This is all the component renders for the teaser image posted on Monday. And there are a few surprises down below.
I wrote conceived and wrote this in less than an hour. It was about 1500 words and I thought it’d nailed it. The version available here is over 2800 words. Sometimes you need to add some screws. In the original version, Edward tells Rachel about Mary’s mother problems. Getting Mary to actually appear in the story, to tell her story, and having a second appearance of the proprietor might be bloat or it might have been just what the story needed.
That extra scene and a some support stuff were finished within twelve hours of the original conception of the story. And I thought… I should make a render for the story.
First problem: I don’t have a small wooden hinged box asset. In fact, I only had one hinged box asset at all.
Second problem: I don’t have a spring asset. Little dancing figurines are held in place by a spring in my – likely 50 years out of date – experience.

The two blue squares are one meter long on each side.
The pizza storage box has bolts in it so it attaches to a scooter. Some kitbashing took place to turn it into the music box
The barstool, which has red leather seat and black coils by default, had to be shrunk down to 1.2% of its normal size and turned upside down. If you look closely, the “spring” is outside the box to the left of the music box.
I spent most of two days creating the renders for the story. I really wanted to make the music box better. I never did add the key. And while there a rubber rod toward the right side of the box to “stop the music when the lid closes”, it’s just a cylinder. I’d thought about putting a rub mark on the lid. Never did it.
The other thing added after the first run was Edward getting to be the dancer. When I thought of it I chastised myself for not thinking of it the first time.
