The art of making playlists By Milisont Sailor

Hey baby,

It’s been a while and I hope you’ve been well. I’m missing you lately while you’re away and I was thinking about how we don’t send each other playlists. Like how back in the day people burned cd’s. Something like audio love letters. So I’ve created one fantasising about when I see you again.

Have you seen that scene of “Fool’s Rush In” where Salma Hayek is in the kitchen cooking in a little dress, dancing to the music she’s playing to get her in the mood and think, “I want to come home to that”?

Well it’s about that time of the year when it’s so rare to get some alone time away from family but when preparing for our guests to arrive, steal the moment with a lil heat in the kitchen.

You come home from work drained and sore, you’ve been waiting all day to see me again.

Thinking about me all day, you just want to come home to me, to feel me. Walking in through the front door, you realise some of my music is playing. You smell the aromas from my cooking rising, filling the air.

There I am. In the kitchen making dinner for the two of us. I’m wearing her favourite sundress I know you like, no bra with my hair clipped and your energy has already changed.

Watching me in my element dancing around the kitchen. Hips swaying with a little cheeky pulling up of my dress to the beat. Finally, you walk up behind me grab my waist and burrow your face into my neck. The smell of my skin intoxicates you, then we find ourselves both starting to sway to the music. I stop what I’m doing and turn to you, looking up into your eyes with that look, I knows makes you weak. Knowing what it does to you, you give me a cheeky grin but take your time.

You soften your gaze then put my head under your chin, kissing my forehead. Pulling my body close to you again, we sync back in with the music. Swaying with wandering hands and heavy breathing.

You don’t care if you look like a fool because you know I don’t care either. We’ve created a safe space for each other to be playful and vice versa. Keeping our fire for each other burning day in and day out.

It’s okay to let your mind wander in these moments but you know, it’s moments like these that mean the most.

This is the magic of music, bringing to your awareness the opportunity of making time for the intimacy that lives right in front of you. Always.

Yours truly
