People have said and will probably continue to say that Moffat's writing is a little too elaborate and contrived at times. Very much like what he has fed into Janice's character, a bit too clever for her own good. But I often don't mind seeing the twitching puppeteer's strings at work, as the characters and events collide. What probably works best over all for this episode. As we see the impending implosion of their hopes for that messy resolution coming a mile off. We just hold our head in our hands clasping our faces peering through the cracks in our fingers, wincing at the car crash unfold, judging their every crazy decision. As we get to view the larger picture and know precisely how worse they are going to make things.
