Frieren has one of the best first episodes but then never drops in quality. truly a work of passion ❤️

2025-06-07 05:54:37 +0000 UTCFrieren is a really, really special series. And the funny thing is - it is extrapolated from such a simple idea, but that is what makes it so good. The story of Frieren is basically a masterfully written fan fiction that explores the simple question of : What DID happen to the party members after you finished playing the game? Frieren, in it's essence is a JRPG. For example when they say Himmel the hero, they don't mean that he was somehow more of a hero than the rest of the party, no his character class is just "hero" (something so common that to this day it is the default class for the player character in any RPG Maker). Then of course defeating the demon king is one of the most common JRPG plots around, and if there's a third common cliche in the genre - the mage is an elf. And with elves commonly being near immune to the passage of time, that mage would far outlive the heroic deeds of the player. It's such an amazing premise to explore, but most importantly - the author is REALLY, REALLY good at making this setting which is generic and relatable on purpose feel like one of the most alive worlds in the genre. I can't wait to see you experience this amazing adventure!
