2023-10-01 19:31:55 +0000 UTCOh, yeah. If you prepared for the recoil, it wasn't too bad. Shooting it all day, I imagine it could be painful. However, if you concentrated on Panzers only, there would be relatively few targets of opportunity, hence your shoulder would be spared.

2023-09-25 19:23:43 +0000 UTCWhilst in Special Forces training in the early 1970s, I had the opportunity to "familiarization fire" the Soviet PTRS-41 14.5mm antitank rifle. It rang your bell, even with a tight cheek weld and firmly against your shoulder. Apparently, the PTRS is being used currently by pro-Russian "militia", with WW2 vintage ammunition in the Russia/Ukraine war.
