Hi, Dr Irrelevant that was my question. Sorry if I took your turn.

Luke Atwell

Q&A. The uses of seaplanes was mentioned way back in Ep. 079 (I think) and it made me curious how seaplanes were recovered to battleship & cruisers during active operations. Can you give us a summary of how seaplanes, as say for scouting or spotting, were launched and recovered when the ship may be concerned about being attacked? It seems there must be a need to balance between the desire for aerial recon and vulnerability during recovery.

Burt Clothier

Oops. Didn't realize I could do that. I just sent one.

Hi. I'm just finishing up watching Patreon drydock 249, and I noticed you didn't answer my question for May. You mentioned my name, but the question you answered (about ships riding wakes) wasn't the one I asked. My question was about how much sailors actually swear, and if the phrase "swears like a sailor" is accurate.

Q&A We all know about the QA issues with some of the Regia Marina 15” projectiles. Did the Littoro(s) hit ANY British vessels with its 15” guns during the war?

Capitano Lorenzo

I would argue that the IJN was the most powerful navy in 1941. I don't think either the Royal or USN could have beaten them in a full on decisive battle. Double and more loading was amazingly common with soldiers carrying muskets. I think this was discovered with the weapons left on the battlefield at Gettysburg.
