WIP Wednesday: Vitis and Wright sketches
Added 2025-11-05 21:14:52 +0000 UTCHere we have Vitis and Wright, whose designs I figured out pretty quickly. Compared to Amity, they're allowed to be a little bit more one-dimensional, so I felt like I could be pretty out there with their designs.
It's the most boring thing in the world to me when every character in a cast has similar body shapes. So my first priority when designing a cast is differentiating them as much as possible. Every character's body has a "focal point" that is supposed to be their main asset, and it's the part of their body that I draw with the most care and attention. Additionally, and this is very important, every member of the cast has completely different boobs.
The only tricky thing I really had to figure out for these characters were the little details, and how to make sure they are drawn consistently. Both the geometric lines on Vitis's robe and the belts on Wright's stomach/legs are deliberately placed at common spacing and landmarks on their body to make them easy to reproduce.
What makes their designs work is of course gap moe, the contrast between their appearances and demeanors. Vitis is a tall, massively stacked smokeshow, but hides herself behind huge nerd glasses and is so nervous she can barely string a sentence together. Meanwhile Wright is tiny and flat chested but is wildly confident and wears a shirt with an irresponsibly low neckline.
These two have the most extreme heights of the main cast. Vitis is nearly six and half feet tall and Wright is just slightly taller than five feet. To make them easier to frame (and to further illustrate their personalities), Vitis has horrible posture and is constantly hunched over, while Wright is always standing straight up.
