WIP Wednesday: Amity Sketches
Added 2025-10-29 19:49:44 +0000 UTCAmity is definitely the character I spent the most time designing. I'll probably draw her like a thousand times, so I need to make sure I'll be happy with her design for a long time.
Since she's the main character I wanted her to have a more generic body shape, slim and average height like most female characters you see in media. Of course, I had to make her stand out somehow, and that's why her arms are a little beefy.
Obviously I've never cared about armor or costumes being realistic, but I do think it's very important for a character's outfit to look like something they'd choose to wear. Amity is very proud of her upper arms, so of course she'd wear something that shows them off.
I had wanted to give her a helmet, but it would have been too difficult to draw consistently from different angles. Since I would be drawing her the most out of all the characters, I have to prioritize making her design as easy for me to draw as possible. Instead of a helmet, she has a cute little headband/circlet thing to kind of suggest the idea of a helmet.
You might have noticed she's the only main cast character with both her eyes open and uncovered. As matter of fact, to make the main cast easy to draw, there's only three exposed eyes between all four characters. Since Amity is the main character and the primary POV character, we're going to be seeing a lot of her reactions to the story's events. She needs to be very expressive, so that why she's the only one with both eyes clearly visible.
