Hey I’m sorry this happened to you so many times already. My goal with the poll setup is always to satisfy the largest number of people. In the past there have been people upset that the winner only had a very small lead, which is what led me to create the final round poll. Because there’s only about 100 votes in each poll, margins are often very slim. The shark herself had only one vote over the barmaid for instance. There have even been times in the past, before I started putting time limits on the polls, where I picked the winner and then the lead shifted before I could make the announcement.
The specific function of both the time limit and the final poll is to make it indisputable who the winner is, with no wiggle room. We see this in many final polls where a close tie is followed by a complete blowout

She looks fantastic and honestly looking forward to seeing her expand, but after the last two class polls I have a slight concern with the ‘final poll’ matter.
Now keep in mind, this could just be the ramblings of a salty bastard, (especially since I only noticed after it happened to my designs and sincere apologies for that. Turns out Alarune went through this with the Psychic poll.) but the ‘final vote’ inherently brings in people who voted for neither. This does actually make sense, especially when the vote’s 50/50 (which Erill reminded me was the reason you started this in the first place), but it’s also quite disheartening for the creator of the unsuccessful design if said design was initially winning, any optimism they had proving to be false hope by people being forced to chose between two designs they like or those who voted for neither and thus hardly have a horse in the race at all.
