Clayman's 'Awakening' was actually an incomplete pseudo-awakening. He did not have the necessary amount of souls to fully awaken as a True Demon Lord. Remember, he was still trying to obtain human souls through the Falmuth war and invading Eurezania. So he did not get the full power up. He was still quite weak compared to the powerful people in attendance lol that is why none of them were really concerned. Another reason Rimuru's fight with Clayman was seemingly so anticlimactic was because of their difference in Skill level. As I have commented before, the anime does a poor job of highlighting how important and powerful Ultimate skills really are. Rimuru has Ultimate skills and Clayman does not. Ultimate skills are like trump cards. The only skills that can counter them are other Ultimate skills, so none of Clayman's attacks or defenses ever would have stood a chance against Rimuru. Also throughout all of the fighting at Walpurgis, Rimuru made the conscious choice to only openly utilize one of his Ultimate Skills (Beelzebuth). He believes concealing his power is very important and doesn't want to show too much of his hand to the other Demon Lords present there. That's why he just kept absorbing Clayman's attacks and Clayman himself.
