A notice from Patreon, and the first Drydock Live stream
Added 2020-05-29 21:05:48 +0000 UTCHello everyone, so 2.5 hours of the first formal Patreon Drydock Livestream is wrapped up, how do people feel it went (especially those who got their questions answered in this format!)
Separately, I got an email from Patreon today about changes in US tax law and how they might affect those of you based there: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043054911-New-Sales-Tax-Requirements-effective-July-1st-2020#where
Based on their guidance table in the above link I don't THINK this will affect this particular Patreon set-up, but I guess we'll have to see and of course if it somehow does I will do everything I can to alter that and preserve the benefits you are entitled to :)

I approve of this format (And this message)

2020-06-05 01:30:31 +0000 UTCReally! It's not just the taste. But specifically with cucumber, how well it goes with the "dry" of the gin. It more than just adds to the dryness. It exceeds the sum of its parts.

2020-06-04 16:55:56 +0000 UTCI second the call for Hendricks gin.

2020-06-04 15:34:24 +0000 UTCDouble Oaked is a much deeper flavor than Reserve. I prefer Reserve because I like the 'balance' of tastes. DO pushes the 'woody' flavoring but it does not push the 'flowery' flavoring...and thus alters the 'balance'. I drove to Kentucky just to visit Woodford. They sell "Single Cask Rye" (which I haven't found sold anywhere else). The woody flavor is less prominent BUT ... it's like having a bouquet of flowers AND a basket of fruit in your mouth at the same time. It prompted me to voyage into rye (I found nothing that comes close). 10 years ago I found a liquor store with a shelf full of OLD 1.75L bottles of Reserve. I bought all 5. I just opened one. It is from Batch 8 (currently they are at Batch 4000+). I am happy with my investment. The Romans had a phrase that perfectly describes our differing views on DO flavoring: "Non lecit certare cum urbantante". "There is no arguing with taste." I don't argue with your taste, I respect it.

2020-06-04 00:21:11 +0000 UTCIt works really well in this format, especially for the alternate history questions. Furthermore, the fact that the sound quality is decent, it's one coherent piece and there is very litlle 'off-topic' chatter make it quite agreeable. I must admit I disliked the frist few attempts for failings in the above category, but I am quite thoroughly converted now. And if it takes some load off you even the better.
2020-05-30 21:33:48 +0000 UTCI enjoyed the live stream for the alternate history stuff, and I think that the "real" history stuff on the regular drydock is great.

2020-05-30 19:15:33 +0000 UTCWhen it comes to gin....Hendricks. They flavor it with 'Bulgarian roses' and 'cucumber' and the taste stands out.

2020-05-30 09:11:39 +0000 UTCI too, thought the livestream went quite well. The ship vs ship and the “what if” questions really work in this format.
2020-05-30 08:16:17 +0000 UTCI couldn't concentrate on what was being said. The unopened bottle of bourbon was so distracting. May I suggest "Woodford Reserve" for your next purchase. When you couldn't remember the name of a certain 'Irish Whiskey' I yelled "Bushmills" at my screen. The format (speculative history) works.

2020-05-30 07:49:32 +0000 UTCHi Drach, I thought it went well and i like the format for the really big "what if" questions. Unfortunately for me living in Australia the live stream is not that convenient as it started at about 02:00 h my time. The timing issue is nowhere near as big of an issue for the Australian Naval enthusiast as the Irn Bru that is sold here is to a different recipe and it is nowhere near as good. I know of two shops in Melbourne that sell real Irn Bru and one is not at all close to where I live and the other runs out all the time. But at least i have my beard in these bleak Inr Bru free times. Keep up the excellent work!
2020-05-30 06:48:57 +0000 UTCI liked the new format with the "what if" questions saved for the live stream and the historical ones for the video.

2020-05-30 06:05:53 +0000 UTCI thought it went quite well. My question was answered very well seeing that it was 100% theoretical. As several have mentioned, just getting a notice that you are about to live stream is my only negative. But, it appears that you've addressed that as best you could. A quick post on Patreon wouldn't go amiss, yet there will be some that won't receive that one. YouTube simply fails us at times. About a year ago, I was unsubscribed without my knowledge due to YouTube updating it's service. The way you performed it today was about the best possible. It had a message up 12 hours before you began, and this was the very first I watched from beginning to end. Anyway... Good job. Hope breaking it up like this helps you in the long run. Take care.
2020-05-30 00:37:38 +0000 UTCI didn’t watch the stream, because I didn’t know it was happening. You should consider making a Patreon post before you start the stream. People with the app installed will get a notification and a mail.

2020-05-29 23:40:58 +0000 UTCok, thanks for the heads up on this. I do try to offset any processing fees by going a tad over the tier I am at, so this is important to me. Be cool, I will do my best to follow this for all that I am Patreon'ed to.

2020-05-29 22:19:05 +0000 UTCI was at work and couldn't be there for the live stream- but I did see that someone could bee there. A good buzz!
