Forced Billing Changes and Other $hit News
Added 2024-09-30 20:28:13 +0000 UTCPatreon is forcing me to change to a monthly billing format instead of per work because Apple is forcing them too in order to keep their app on the apple store. I don't know what to charge or what tiers to create at this point. I'm also struggling to find my voice in all the possibilities of what I've started or could start. I'm honestly frustrated with everything. I hate that I feel robbed and exploited by AI. There are countless DeviantArt pages that are ripping me off. There's no legal recourse for me. I hesitate to put out anything new because it'll just get fed into an AI model that's designed to emulate me. It sucks. I'm basically demoralized not just with the environment online but also my own artistic visions and aspirations just seem too far away.
I wish this shit was easier. I'd really appreciate everyone's feedback so I can improve what I deliver to you every month going forward.

2025-01-23 08:32:27 +0000 UTCI really think you should collab with Dargoden again or how about IRN? I do not offer such suggestion with the mere interest that it may help you "crank out content." I genuinely believe they are a nice fit, and I know you have appreciated their work.

2024-10-03 03:25:04 +0000 UTCYes I hope for more Elvira too. Please at least one classic POV bj panel. Perhaps one with Elvira working B-Low solo, then same shot with the 3 succubi lending their tongues on the sides of his triumphant towering pole. And add a clock in the background to show the passage of time. Normally they can make short work of their prey, lulling him into a zombie-like state. But B-Low presents an unprecedented challenge, and all the girls end up dickmotized. They should worship him for hours and promise to do anything he wants just for another taste of his divine nut.

2024-10-02 07:18:06 +0000 UTCLaunch the ratsbus. Take advantage of the broader leeway while you can. And maybe you can still do charge per creation over there, unless Apple has got their tentacles on that platform too. Don't go too crazy right out the gate though, as you'll probably be on a probation period. Just establish a foothold there and then that extra line of revenue should help you, however modest.

2024-10-02 05:55:56 +0000 UTCThere is no getting around the implementation of AI now as it is become normal in the tech space. All I can tell you is for your work, is to charge a premium price for your work if you are consistent. Fans of your work will gladly support you though finding a balance in pricing can be difficult to tackle.

2024-10-01 17:55:32 +0000 UTCThis comes at a coincidental moment for sure! I have a friend who creates a lot of her own IR content in 3d using a game called "Second Life". She produces a lot of great images and spends hours on postwork etc. I recently spoke to her about AI because every once in a while she'll run one of her own created images through an AI program for a different look to it. She'll, as she calls it, "Pit-ify" that image slightly. However, her images seem to merely take inspiration from your style. Side by side it's night and day. It's obvious that the resulting images are NOT yours but there is a slight air of inspiration there. Some a little more than others I guess. We had a conversation about AI and how it effects the artist the AI was programmed on and we both agreed that just running through a bunch of prompts to create a (almost) 100% copy of your style to churn out second grade imitations of artist's styles is harming the artists overall, such as yourself. We have both been big fans of yours for many years and I always think there is nothing better than genuine Pit artwork. You can also tell the difference too. It's like name brand and store brand in difference. So I am wondering how you feel personally about honoured works. Like hers. We came to the conclusion that the work she runs through (from time to time) is clearly not created by you not is it a 100% facsimile but you can tell there is an inspiration there. To best describe it, It's her work just run through a light 'Pit' filter, I guess, along with a few other non Pit tweeks. I thought it honoured an artist we are both huge fans of considering she also makes sure these works are marked as "AI" and inspired by yourself. Every great Artists has been inspired by another and Imitation is the best form of flattery and, according to her, that's how she sees the occasional AI work she produces as inspiration and to honour a great artist. As I said 99% of her work is all her own work but occasionally she'll tweek one piece of her work to have a Pit inspiration. So I am curious how you feel about that in it's self. AI can be a great tool but to use to to purposely mislead and fully copy an artist's style is very wrong. I'm not going to publish her works or name here for two reasons, I am not trying to promote her work, only trying to get feedback from Pit himself on such things, and I don't want a bunch of 'White Knights' who don't speak for The Pit, invading her inbox with hateful comments. Anyway, curious to hear what your thoughts on this are Mr Pit. Thankyou :)

2024-10-01 11:56:24 +0000 UTCI'm actually a part of a coalition building project with several internationally based erotic arts organizations about the intersection of AI and sex work (in the broad sense, which your work would fall under) and though we're just getting started and the issues of AI are enormous, it's been filling me with a lot of hope to be around other artists who won't tolerate the bullshit and want to demand better. Sometimes being around other people who want to their art to be respected is enough. Hmu if you're interested in getting involved or at the very least interested in seeing the notes from our last session. Our aspirations as creators are always the first thing the ambitious artist goes for to flog ourselves with. Like a couple people here, I've been a fan since the JP days and all I can say is that while it's not wrong to want to go farther I'll be the first to point out your style has already come a long way.

2024-10-01 08:11:11 +0000 UTCI think this is an important point. The GIFs and demonstrations of some shifts in art style do well to differentiate the Pit art portfolio from the one specific framing of AI imitation. Branching out and finding whatever motivation can present more new things regularly should do well to justify more charging for works. Opening commissions might help there too.

2024-10-01 06:54:16 +0000 UTCwell if it helps I will always love your art. You're a great inspiration to my own art, also Its a bit far in the future but would you be open for commissions in like 6 to 8 months?

2024-10-01 05:34:31 +0000 UTCAs someone who struggles like sin to write their own content and put it out in a reasonable manner I've had to mull over a lot of future problems I'm going to eventually run into but you're fumbling with and if it'll help here is my two cents. 1) Fuck AI, but there's nothing you can do in terms of content theft. There appears to be zero recourse for creatives atm to punish these companies and there is too much money involved where I doubt there will ever be. You either keep pushing or don't. 2) On the keep pushing... how much of your content do you really want to actually pump out a fully finished product? This isn't a callout as a patron, but rather as another creator asking what do you actually want to do? If the desire is strong enough fuck the AI, algorithms, and all this other bullshit and just put out what your heart desires. 3) If you're putting out sporadic content you've already basically created the tip jar tier for your patreon. I put up a dollar a month because I know I'm not always going to get stuff, but I also want to support an artist I like. If there is someone going "I'm not getting my $1 USD worth!" they're a bot and deserve to be shoved into a bin. If your life lets you start a more consistent release schedule and you can confidently charge what you're worth (because it's more than a dollar a month) then more power to you. The struggle between vibes and making money off your craft is a bitch, and the reality is if new content is sporadic than a tip jar is the best you can ask for. On the other hand though if you find yourself in a place where you're able to really nail those daily/weekly/monthly goals you set for yourself, there is obviously an audience who wants the 'real deal' rather than some generic AI garbage. The new reality is we'll never be able to out-create the firehose of shit content from AI creators but the other side of the coin is their "art" is so obviously generated trash that people will want the real deal. Take the good with the bad and unfortunately the bad with the good and find that happy medium, and if you aren't happy making art for money well... *shrug*

2024-10-01 04:02:25 +0000 UTCI’m just gonna say it at risk of sounding like a huge a**hole. But I know other people are thinking it and if I were you I wish a good friend who cared about my success would just tell it to me like this imo. You should just embrace ai and use it. Yea. I know. It sucks to be ripped off and you love to draw but honestly… how much content have you put out in the last two months? How many of the concepts and teasers have you finished to be a full blown comic? Better question, why am I paying for this subscription? The demand for this kind of art doesn’t care how you do it they just want to see a constant flow of it. Idk man use it. Hire an employeeto put out comic strips using ai and when something hits, customize it with your drawing abilities. Figure out a process that will allow you to deliver on a routine basis. $15-20 a month for one complete comic I think is fair. How many people are going to continue paying $5 for one or two drawings a month? The only reason I haven’t cancelled is because I’m hoping you will somehow figure it out and I want to see more art from you. But most people don’t care that much about this stuff. Make it easy for us to subscribe to you. Do you drawings on the side we just want the content

2024-10-01 03:17:37 +0000 UTCTLDR but I got the gist of it and I agree. We want to see PIT put out a ton of content. Whether true fans or not. Question is can he provide it using the same tools he has always used.

2024-10-01 02:02:13 +0000 UTCI can definitely understand feeling demoralized by the way you specifically have been targeted by AI Image Generation IP bandits to be scraped, out of all the artists on the internet. It's a very real problem that needs some kind of oversight or legislation to cover. BUT...it's also a testament to the fact that you are SO POPULAR that you would be targeted, and I think the comments here prove that people know the difference between real art and generic, soulless, copies. I think you have always been fair with how you have run this Patreon, through all your ups and downs, and I think that the people that have remained loyal, month-to-month (like myself), have no problem supporting a REAL ARTIST. This is what Art Patrons have done since the earliest days OF art...support the arts. And I honestly do think that your art is worth far more than any soulless reproduction. Every new piece is a VAST improvement over the last one...even your SKETCHES are just STUNNING...and there is a quality there that cannot be matched by an AI image generation, because AI has no CONTEXT. Even in a single image, you are telling a STORY and communicating CHARACTER. That is worth something. That is worth MORE. I have said this multiple times over the years, but maybe not as bluntly as this; I think you are far to hard on yourself. I think that you hyper-fixate on all these big plans and over-promise on certain projects, and then you lose that initial surge of ENERGY and PASSION you had for it and end up feeling confined by your promise. And I don't think that any of us here want you to feel stifled like that. I am just happy when you put out ANYTHING. So I think that you should not worry about meeting a self imposed milestone, like committing to a comic and then finding that it's not working for you, or feeling confined by it, or feeling like it's a slog to get through...I think that you should just paint what you want and what interests you in the moment, and know that that will be MORE THAN ENOUGH for the people supporting you. Regardless, I will remain a patron and eagerly await new work from you! If you ever want someone to help with writing duties on something, I'm happy to help!

2024-09-30 23:52:30 +0000 UTCOk...I usually don't comment things so I may not articulate the message I want you to hear as well as I'd like, but I'm gonna give a shot, so buckle up. I've been following your work since the JP days, and what I can tell you from surfing the comic porn side of the internet for the last 15+ years is that your style of art in the genre has been very influential, and there are quite a few artists, some that you may even know, who probably got their first push into digital art after exposure to your work. Yes, there are people who post work that is heavily influenced by your style whether it be on DA or R34 or whatever, and if there making money off it or just posting "fan fiction" stuff that they want to see, and I'd bet my house on it that the vast majority of them are fans who are just wanting more content and perhaps are just wanting to continue or honor what you have created. I know it's hard for you to see this around the net, and you seem particularly frustrated about AI and I get it, but this is all just noise in that background IMO. Don't let all that discourage you from doing what (I assume) you love to do, AI is not good enough to be creative on its own. For the most part from what I've seen it can only create an approximation of what already exists, but that's besides the point and that doesn't matter. What I guess I'm trying to say is ignore all that, put your head down into your work if you still want to do it, and people will come support your art. People who are looking for this type of art, this style, are always going to prefer the original to imitation...and those who have "copied" your work to this day I have not seen one yet that can reproduce your work and it look as good or be that PIT style the way you do it, be the O.G. work or the new. The internet will always reward truly good work, whether it be randos who stumble across you or long time community supporters like myself. Don't get down about the billing situation either, take it as an opportunity. Try to make a plan, start out with a goal, IDK like one finished panel a week, or one every two whether it be a pinup or part of a larger story and go from there. Don't be afraid to do "parts" in a story, use it as a break to do something different for a week or a month and then pick it back up. You have a ton of stuff on the back burner so to speak that I feel like you could give a little attention and people would love it! All the stuff I've seen from you in the last few years that was unfinished or uncolored have been bangers IMO, I'm sure many here would agree, like the post today for example looks amazing. I know it seems like I'm ranting here but I promise it's with love, I just want to see you hit your stride again. Once that happens alot of these imitations will fade I think, because people who are following that just want more of what you're creating. Again, saying all this with love, and hope something in this giant bowl of word salad helps. P.S. It's almost October, would love to see some kind of finale to the Elvira comic ;)

2024-09-30 23:31:40 +0000 UTCDude, i would have paid tier all along. Don’t sweat the billing changes. I would happily pay monthly for access to your full back catalog, watermarked to keep it from being easy to steal. 2024-09-30 23:22:43 +0000 UTCat most AI can approximate a snapshot of your style at a particular point in time, it cant demonstrate your skill and versatility of styles nor the impact and legacy of your work in this genre. take your time and take our energy as needed, we're all here to support you whatever you decide with your plans here

2024-09-30 22:46:55 +0000 UTCDA, Patreon and all those “others” need to get their heads out of their asses and protect artists. If you need to change payment formats, tell us your new stuff and we’ll support accordingly! We love your stuff and if you need to take a break, go for it. 2024-09-30 22:26:09 +0000 UTCI feel for you badly, I see a lot of accounts on Deviant Art ripping off your style. And I HATE IT!!! Hopefully this will work out for the best.

2024-09-30 21:42:47 +0000 UTCAI may steal your style for single images or pinups, but it can't make a comic the way you do. Lean into the areas where AI is weak and you'll keep your edge. AI is inconsistent and cannot arrange comic panels with ongoing characters or story development. It also is trash at animation and original characters or poses. Plus it has no idea what "Sexy" is. More than anything, you're a storyteller, nothing will replace that.

2024-09-30 21:12:12 +0000 UTCCreate tiers and filter what each tier can see. Cheaper tiers get access to maybe 2 or three posts a month, more expensive tiers get access to all your posts. This way you’re keeping consistent revenue. Especially if people who steel your work want access to newer posts they have to pay more for it. Don’t allow yearly subscriptions. Focus on rewarding people who support you and fucking over people who abuse your work. By increasing the amount you charge (which you absolutely need to do in my opinion) you create a safe space to post what you want and we get to see it. If they wanna steal your shit, fuck them they’re gonna pay you for it. I can’t tell you they are gonna stop but it will definitely deter a lot of people from doing especially since they’re getting over by getting full access for so little charge. Also we love seeing your work, whether finished or unfinished or even just chatting with you. Also look into different platforms other than this one. Like Subscribestar, that’s where I see the most NSFW creators now

2024-09-30 21:04:51 +0000 UTCI don’t know what it’s like to be an artist up against AI and I understand that it’s been a battle for you. But for what it’s worth, EVERYONE I’ve talked to about AI art couldn’t give a shit about it even if they wanted to. It’s neat for like 2 seconds and then the novelty immediately wears off. The artist is what makes the art meaningful. The AI ripoffs of your work are so boring they elicit zero interest in people who aren’t 12. Your fans are here for YOU and the work that comes from your mind, not for dumb copycats. Whatever changes you make to your billing or platform, I and many others will be right there with you. Keep your head up and make whatever you’re moved to make, you’ve built a niche audience over many years that isn’t going anywhere and thinks you’re the GOAT. Truly let that sink in!

2024-09-30 20:58:27 +0000 UTCMaybe having a sorta weekly poll for things you feel like doing at the time or hits you more creatively and then we can help you focus on something down like a sorta sexy triage. But as far as your frustration goes, have you ever thought about starting a anonymous or branded YouTube channel as just a character to vent out your feelings and maybe start a sorta awareness for like minded people to follow. I think thier are pros and cons to it but maybe every week you release a impromptu rant or whatever you feel like and if you want you can link us to it so we can chat and maybe help out if we can. I remember alot of my classmates used to do slam poetry as a outlet to keep calm and professional under pressure so maybe this could be a nice anonymous outlet?

2024-09-30 20:47:48 +0000 UTCOne thing I will say regardless. Try to just ignore the AI. Stay off deviant art or wherever you are seeing it. It does you no good. Don’t think “oh no my art will feed their algorithm!” Forget that. You have a cool idea? A sexy idea? Put it out there. Your own original art is worth way more, focus on yourself and your output and your fans will support you.

2024-09-30 20:40:01 +0000 UTCA lot of nsfw creators move to subscribe Star, maybe you can check that out and see if it fits you better. I guess if you stay here and you’re worried about your output you can keep the first tier cheap and still allow a lot of access. Leave higher tiers for more special stuff you come up with like super high quality pics, tutorials, maybe even commission/poll stuff.
