Substance Spider Bot
Added 2021-12-12 23:16:27 +0000 UTCI had a wonderfully productive stream this morning, in which I was trying to remember what I've recently learnt about Substance Painter. This little animation was the result of testing, experimentation and plenty of community input (thanks guys π). I started with the Adobe Spiderbot, then built up the materials and grunge shaders, and finally exported it into DAZ Studio for rendering.
This is the high-res version I've rendered at 1000 iterations, with a bit of additional particle effect shenanigans I've smuggled into the background. I like the idea of this little guy having been on the surface of a dusty planet for several hundred years, surveying the land day in day out, battered by the elements, forgotten by those who built him. He's probably wondering if they'll ever come back (or perhaps he's not programmed to think like that).
I might turn this little animation into an NFT :-)
