CRISTY'S COMMENTS CORNER Episode 18

Comments

A new Cristy's Comments Corner! Just what the doctor ordered! Let me grab a soda and get to watching... First, Happy New Year to you both, Cristy and Jorge! I hope that it's off to a great start for you guys. I have no doubt that this will be a great and productive year for the channel! You mentioned that it's best for people to not get their first exposure to movies by watching reaction videos to them, but honestly, I love that there are movies that I basically get to watch for the first time along with Cristy. For instance, I love that while watching the movie FALL (which I had never even heard of before it was posted on your channel) that I got to be as surprised as you and experience all the highs and lows (no pun intended) together. I, for one, greatly appreciate that you give your viewers your honest reaction. And that you aren't afraid to "call out" something if it bugs you. Don't get me wrong, I love it when you're watching a moive and having a great time while seeing it, but let's face it, not every movie can be fantastic... or maybe something about it just doesn't appeal to you personally. Whatever the case, please just keep being yourself and let us know what you're really thinking and feeling. πŸ™‚ "Is Cristy dumb?" Well, the answer to that is obviously a huge "No Way!" I mean, just the fact that you're completely fluent in two different languages is something that a lot of other people can't make claim to. But on top of that, we can all see just by your demeanor, your personality, your vocabulary, etc, that you're incredibly smart. If a few or your viewers think otherwise, I think it's just what Jorge said- you're just not too familiar with a lot of movie and TV storytelling tropes, and therefore can get more surprised by them than a lot of other people who are really jaded about such things. Regardless, you seem to be rapidly catching up in recognizing those storytelling queues. You did a really good job anticipating some of the things in GALAXY QUEST, for instance. Oh, man, it was hard watching that clip of you crying. I hope that at times like that, you get some good comforting hugs from Joey and Phoebe. And I laughed out loud at your story of your friend and his mouth guard. I think that it might be a good idea to have a box of tissue be a standard fixture next to your monitor for future movies, just in case. πŸ˜‰ Oh, wow, you have RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK coming up?! One of my favorite movies! (And one that I've nominated before for your monthly film nominating poll.) You are going to SO enjoy that movie. As usual, it's difficult for me to think of something to tease you about it without spoiling anything, so I'll just leave it at that. And COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO as well? Cool! You should already know a tiny bit about it, namely that it was V's favorite film (although he was talking about the 1934 version with Robert Donat). And of course the novel was one of the books that Andy got for the prison library in SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION ("by Alexandree... Dumb ass....". Lol). Thanks on behalf of the rest of Cristy's Crew for providing us with another great episode of CCC! I especially love hearing you guys discuss the various comments that get left for Cristy's reactions, whether they're complimentary, negative, insightful, funny, etc. You guys are the best! ❀️

Scent of a Woman: I agree acting blind with eyes open is a difficult thing. Plenty of blind people do not walk around with their eyes open like that- something they'd choose to do for others looking at them. A tangent, a blind man wrote an interesting autobiography, talking about his experiences of life blind, its title: If You Could See What I Hear. Almost Famous: It's interesting to discuss the characters in the film vs. real life, as is typically done, it creates fictional elements/changes things to be more entertaining ( like the scene of him pretending to be an adult on the phone with the Rolling Stone editor, reality was the editor met him in person and hired him based on his writing, which had been published in Creem magazine ). C. Crowe said his mother got friendly with Frances McDormand, who told his mother "I'm not playing YOU, it's a character in the story." Also his mother felt ok with him going off with the band because a man who wasn't with the band said he would be watching over him ( I think a photographer ). The music in reactions criticism: it's a very common complaint, and even worse for music reaction channels. There are some which are about evaluating singing, and even they get complaints because they will not only stop the song now and then, but also replay parts in evaluating and discussing singing techniques. It's an entitled attitude - they don't get what reaction videos are about. Looking forward to the Batman Begins edited ( and not long after the Dark Knight ). Also the Prestige at some point. Classics: before 1980 is a good cutoff point. Also related to that subject, suggestions were made under the "2025 Is Here" post, I'd recommend looking through the comments there if things weren't written down. I think you'll enjoy the serious drama of "The Naked Gun" 😁 I always look forward to CCC, a great perk. πŸ€—K.
