FULL WATCHALONG: Pulp Fiction

I'm so glad they went with Uma-- I can't imagine JA doing that role!

1994. I remember renting The Shawshank Redemption from my local video store. The Pulp Fiction trailer played before the movie. It was October, I was just starting night classes in college. Pulp Fiction opened that weekend and I was there. In fact, I saw it twice opening weekend. The second time, I was rocking my brand new Pulp Fiction T-shirt πŸ˜‚ Now, some fun trivia. Briefcase. Some think it's Marcellus Wallace's soul or something supernatural. Some think it's Elvis's Golden Suit. Tarantino has a love of Elvis. It's a lightbulb connected to a battery. It is. (Redacted) because if I say this theory it would spoil part of Tarantino's first film, Reservoir Dogs. Anyone who has seen it, can probably guess but don't answer. We wouldn't want to spoil anything for Cristy. Tarantino decided to leave the contents of the briefcase up to the viewers imagination. Mia and Vincent didn't actually win the dance contest In a later scene during the segment with Butch (Bruce Willis) we hear a TV in the background. On the TV, a news broadcast is reporting that the dancing trophy from Jack Rabbit Slim's was stolen. Lance is played by Eric Stoltz. Tarantino was thinking about Stoltz playing either Lance or Jimmy, who Tarantino plays later. He told Stoltz: β€œThere are two parts you can do, and they both wear bathrobes.” Julia Louis-Dreyfus turned down the role of Mia Wallace, due to her commitment to Seinfeld, where she played Elaine. Tarantino himself said that the role in the end came down to two people: Uma Thurman and Jennifer Aniston. There's so much more useless trivial running around in my head but I've rambled enough 🎬

Glad you enjoyed this! I saw it as a teenager in the 90s and was blown away. I've seen it so many times I know the whole film lol Another Tarantino classic you should check out is Kill Bill!

Wade Wallenstein

He stole the briefcase idea from "Kiss Me Deadly" ( 1955 )

That was a lot of fun!! Glad i took today off!! I'm sure you're going to get a lot of great insights from QT fans, so here's just a couple of oddball notes. Now that you have been introduced to Harvey Keitel, (The Wolf) you've watched The four main protagonists from Robert De Niro, and Martin Scorsese's breakout movie "Mean Streets." The other two being David Provall, and Richard Romanus. (Ritchie Aprile, and Dr Melfi's ex husband Richard respectively.) Second thing, the next time you watch "Captain America: the Winter Soldier," there's a great Easter egg at the end of the movie. When they gather at the cemetery, read Nick Fury's headstone. Your reaction was spectacular Cristy! Thanks to you, and to Chris for the request!! ❀️
