Sinners Landing

I’ve been sucked into more planning - in addition to the writing I have been doing. We made a lot of corrections and changes based on the writing we read through last week... And it ballooned. Walking through the new-improved-simplified quest system and character skill system added more stuff and changes.

We're trying a very different style of writing sex scenes for this game, using a mix of 2nd-person narration and character voicing. And we're using a mix of more cartoons with the animated sex to set up and build the action. I'm gonna walk the team through it in an hour or so, and then they will set about finalizing the comics and animations, and puppeteering the whole thing.

We also spent the early part of the week completely rebuilding the UI, making it sleeker and easier to read, putting less focus on the UI and more focus on the text and characters. Looks good, but likely we’ll adjust more as we get more features in. Droid is using this as an opportunity to go through and clean the codebase of unwanted/unneeded legacy stuff from Paradise Lust and Love of Magic. The result will, as always, be new, buggy code that needs to be pounded into submission... but that’s always how it is.

Focus for next few weeks will be getting a BUNCH of content in, and testing it through these new systems. The end product: In about a month, we should have something pretty fun and representative of the first hour or so of gameplay.

Here’s the simplified, cleaner UI. We went with a much more standard font for the in-game text. The old one was cute, but hard to read. This is... much easier on the eyes after a lot of reading.

Paradise Lust 2

We're hard at work towards our first Alpha release.

I wanted to talk about areas and locations. We've obviously talked a bit about the new character models, but we're also going back and upgrading a lot of the original locations in-game.

The resort is expanding, with new rooms being built, a restaurant and a beach bar planned. One of the things we wanted to do was make the resort feel 'alive' and successful, so we're going back to retouch a bunch of the old areas.

Some areas get only cosmetic updates (like the resort beach getting re-lit), while others get radical overhauls (the Beach, where we previously had the wrecked Moby Dick, and the Cove where you washed up back on day 1. Others are being designed from scratch.

Hopefully we can move into testing phase where we'll open it up to a few alpha testers soon

I loved the cadence we had on Paradise Lust, where we released 2-3 / week to testers, and you guys helped us break the game. #1 goal is getting back to that point ASAP.
