I figured we would do another progression of a comic post. So here are some rough sketches, in the process of being finalized for a future comic episode. We often use opposing bright colors when working with layers so they stand out as to who is who, but of course as I saw that, this time both characters are the same horrifying lime green. Go figure.
Showing emotion in a comic often has to be exaggerated in single panel comics. To portray an emotion, you usually are limited to one panel, maybe two. So you really have to choose the best faces, and throw it out there. Other forms of media, such as animation or film, you have as much time as needed to show emotion and little nuances of one's facial expressions. We got just one shot per panel and have to make it count. You don't want conflicting performances.
So with that said, it should be pretty obvious the emotions in every single panel here. They have to count (even though these aren't finalized in any way).
In the next blog post we will show you the rough script and the final outcome, as well as how the character poses finalized!
