Destination (Vocal Break)

This week we'll be looking at the vocal break section of Destination.

I love writing these kinds of parts where the guitar plays a repetitive figure. Underneath, the other instruments change chords, each time re-contextualizing the guitar and adding a new layer of depth to the arrangement.

There's a few techniques included here, like vibrato and palm mutes. Oh and there's a bend too. But otherwise, the riff is pretty easy and I think you'll have a relatively smooth time learning this part.

Theory wise, this part comes out of an Ab minor pentatonic scale. Too easy:

----------------------------4-7---
-----------------------4-7--------
------------------4-6-------------
-------------4-6------------------
--------4-6-----------------------
---4-7----------------------------

If you have any burning questions on how to play the part, your destination should be down below in the comment section.

TAB is attached.

Enjoy!

Great part! I might add this to the practice schedule this week, at least the bit with the bend in it. Practice is going all right--last night I got one *really* fantastic one off that's 1.) convinced me I CAN make this sound good and my hands aren't broken, but 2.) has changed my benchmark for what "good" sounds like and now every other time sounds worse by comparison--but eh, that's how improvement works, right? As you get better, what you did in the past sounds like crap by comparison. I'm going to keep at it and figure it out!
