On This Rock (Prechorus)

Do you like chords? I have lots of chords for you today. This part is a sparse textural part, so if you have any chorus, delay, or reverb, they can all go a long way to enhancing this part and turning it into more of a vibe.

TAB is attached. Drop any questions or comments down below!

The chromatic bass line combined with the chords and effects is so atmospheric. And theory too? I'm going to enjoy learning this one.

It's a bit of both. Sometimes people hear a few chords in my head spontaneously in their head, and try to translate that onto a guitar, keyboard, or whatever instrument they're playing. In that case it just comes from the heart. (robots have hearts too... sometimes!) Other times you might be trying to create a mood of some kind. If you want an evil mood, you could then take minor chords and start moving them around, because that always does the trick. Or if you want to write something heroic, then a minor i chord to a major IV chord is going to give the music a push in that direction.

Hmm, you could probably go with some kind of Line 6 multi effects doo-dad. That way you can get all the different effects in one unit and learn which ones you like using the most.

Such an amazing part that has been stumping me since the song came out. This may be too big of a question, but is there a conscious decision to play certain chords over certain bass notes? Like a Cm chord over the Bb, and not just a Bb triad instead? Is there a music theory explanation or does it just sound cool? The latter answer is 100% acceptable.

Beautiful part! You SHOULD take credit for it, it's lovely. :) If I were, hypothetically, to start looking at effects pedals--where's a good place to start?
