In MLP AU Matt was resqued by Cedric when he was a very small batpony, left by his flock in the woods because of a wing injury. In this setting wild batponies live and behave like animals, eat mice, birds and stuff, but if raised with regular ponies they learn as fast as them, so yes Matt talks and behaves like a regular pone. They also grow up very fast so Matt evolved into adult age physically and mentally in like half a year lol
