 "I've seen this problem before- not an RPG maker expert, but I use a mac so I've seen it a bunch. The way RPGmkaker MV does its saves on mac is not good by default. There are plugins that make the save system better- I know Novin and Icarue both use some manner of save game plugin. Without the plugins that they use, RPGmaker MV games will by default demand that the game itself be in the applications folder SImilarly, without some sort of plugin use the options menu will cause an error and crash. Thats not necessarily a problem in itself, but it gets compunded- most of the time, RPGmaker MV exports the game as a program called "game"since you can not have 2 programs with the same name, it becomes an annoying case of having to rename all games that have this problem. Also, when doing it this way, it stores saves inside the program- because that's the way a lot of mac programs work- they are in many ways a mix between a folder and an executable. SO when updating, a mac player needs to dig into the program, copy the files, put the new version in, and then create a save in the relevant slot, and then copy the save in. This is not a good process for saving games and updates. I think this also fixes the problem of mac players not being allowed to use the options menu, although that may be a different plugin. So long story short- putting the game in applications makes it work both in a "allowed to save" and "leaving the options menu does not cause the game to crash" way, but is less than ideal from a user standpoint. "
