August's Exclusive Episode & September Contest Ideas!

Hello! Above is the link to the Finishes and Flourishes episode of the guest room!

Next month we are going to do a contest for FIVE winners to each receive a full room's worth of the Predator & Prey wallpaper. Here's where I need your help...

I'd like to hold a contest with a few different submission options, so that a couple people who may shine in areas other than writing can have a chance to win!

Any ideas are welcome and as a funny bonus, the best idea In this post will be one of the five winners! :))

Oh! and pre-orders for the P&P papers will close in two weeks, so if you're interested in ensuring you get a set, make sure to place your order within that time :D

August's Exclusive Episode & September Contest Ideas!

Comments

I love how your animals enjoy the spaces your create. So lovely.

sandra perez

Write a poem about the owl on the wallpaper.

Silke

I think people should submit their best ghoulish Halloween recipe and we all vote on the one we like. The winners recipe gets to be made by you which is turned into an episode.

Rez NYC

Ooh, I would do photo shoots with my pet rats! Surrounded by this wallpaper. I'd make them tiny rat costumes. I'm a miniaturist so of course I'd need to make them a haunted rat mansion...with their own miniature wallpaper

Kristin Rogersdotter

Finding a historic place or building in the person's local area and finding a ghost story about it, sending in the article they find whether that be from searching online or going to a genealogy room and looking through old microfilm! 😍 👻 🦇 🕷 🕸

Gretchen Maybelle

How about participants creating a plan of the room they would put the wallpaper on? This could be a hand drawn sketch, mood board, digital artwork or anything visual that could be sen to you as a jpg file :)

Sanna Kettunen

How about creating your own printed fabric.

Janet Rose Ashley

I'd love to see a plant-based Thanksgiving dish that has the same "centerpiece" energy as the traditional turkey. I made a mushroom wellington last year and it was the star of the show complete with ceremonial carving. Completely upstaged the turkey ;) Another idea would be your take on the Magic Mirror, heart box, and/or poison apple from Snow White. The apple and the "pig's" heart could be edible! Last one: creating a gothic fainting couch for your kitties. I'm imagining carved mice, kitty claw feet, and a fabric choice that's easy to get pet hair off of.

Nikki Davison

Oh, it’s been over a month since the last one…and I hope the live as well!

Heidi

Thank you for the beautiful photos !

Nancy Williams

I don't know about you guys but I can feel a new video coming soon 😸

Paula Razielle

As someone with different crafting skills, I second this!

Josie

Take an old piece of furniture and create something special with it

Vicky

How about just making a fun Halloween mask made out of paper

Alison

Christine, when does this contest end? So many ideas must be overwhelming.

curious george

(Virtual interactive) Haunted Victorian Mansion B & B Murder Mystery. Whoo-whoo done it? The clues are hidden in the 'owlpaper'! OR Spooky Owl backstory- How did the owls come to be on Christine's walls? OR owl &/or mouse crafts (variety of mediums).

Kimberly Hemberg

Simple contest to appeal to every level of ability and medium. Create an interesting witch. Through costume, makeup, figure making of clay, wire, wood, from full size mannequin to small clay figure and anything in between. Something sewn, drawn or welded. As long as it’s original work and unique, not a typical witch you’ve seen before like black pointy hat and black robe. More colorful and interesting, make it a visual story! Any age, sex or even from Earth!

Diane plevelich

Suggest a traditional/local craft for Christine to try (must be something Christine has not tried making before and must be realistically doable without expensive special tools or supplies). Send in your own creative example of the craft.

Professor Bats

Creating the wildest/silliest or most horrifying origin story for your made-up villain.

Yvonne Villalobos

You could also do a contest where you choose a monster theme and everyone who wants to, creates something that has to do with that monster in mind.

Keiverse87

How about a contest of who has the most obscure craft hoard via photo submissions? I'd be interested to see what's behind the scenes of all the creations

Julianna Bridges

Would love a Victorian picture recreation for one. It’s Halloween so yard decorations would be great to see.

Dana’s chaney

If not already selected, I think a pie or cake decorating segment / writing segment / a kitchen or craft apron sewing segment and a drawing/painting segment (pencil/ink/paint on paper) - perhaps?

May Day

Hello, I'm a new fan the Mind of Christine McConnell. Marvelous work! For a contest with several submission options: I propose the provision of some unifying theme (bathing spiders! bats having tea! owls taking naps!) with several paths to submission (sewing projects, photo projects, sculpting, woodworking, baking, et cetera). I look forward to the outcome.

K. A. Harrison-Adcock

😻😻😻😻

Sam Hussey

As beautiful as it looked with the mood lighting, I was dying to see the room in some natural light so this was a wonderful look at all the details! <3

Anna Wilson

Paint over/embellish a thrift painting with added elements, changed coloring to reflect a darker aesthetic. I'm actually working on a few right now :)

Lisa

P.S. Reading through the comments, this post already feels a bit like a competition 🤣 Christine, was this challenge #1???

Clairomancy

What about showing off where the print would be used, and method is up to the creator? Someone could write a short horror story about a dark room, or post a video of them singing in the space, or draw a picture of the finished room, or show off their home-crafting handi skills in an instructionals guide - the opportunities are endless! And to offer a submission, either write in the comments or attach a link to their submission in the comments section.

Clairomancy

1.As an alternative to a written submission, how about a design section? I would suggest- ‘design a model/ sculpture to suit the room itself’. Perhaps you could set the size requirements, then people could submit either their drawn plans, or images of the actual work (maybe if you gave an extra 2 week time allowance or that type of thing😄). 2. How about ‘Design the next paper ‘ where we could submit designs for another room in the house- you could show us the light, give your colour preferences, themes etc, and then choose your favourite. Love ALL that you do, thank you sooo much, you have made a repressed, secretly v creative person finally believe that letting it out is a good thing!! ✨Creative joy✨🪲🍄🦋

Nicky Warner

Christine, can you add your links and the curtain pattern? =) Great work as usual!

Karmell Mazurek

You could make tablecloth for a 48 to 52 inch round table with a very subtle bat theme in red Duponi silk or velvet and black incorporating black silk cording and fringe and maybe a bit of lace or same size table cloth in black with a subtle black widow spider theme with ivory or platinum silk fringe, and embroidery. Both tablecloths would drape almost to the floor with the fringe that would be long enough to be artful. If scalloped each point could perhaps an embroidery or brooch type embellishment with coordinating bead work. They could gave a topper of either a floral arrangement that coordinates or an Art Nouveau era statuette reproduction that has the table cloth theme worked into the art work. I just woke up from a dream with these ideas.

Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Smith-Clark

How about a good old fashioned name drawing for those of us with tons of admiration and zero talent. It's the only way I stand a chance. Lol. And I can't afford the wall paper. It's perfect for .my 118 y.o. bedroom!

Reba Hensley

Best and most creative afternoon tea service. With a full explanation of type of tea chosen, finger sandwiches, scones, savories and sweets all chosen with seasonal flavors. Extra points if the China is seasonal too. Bonus points for inspiration drawn from some of the lesser used Edgar Allen Poe short stories or poems. And by “seasonal” I do mean Halloween.

Monica Shew

A creative project; Either the best or worst (in a funny way) wins. But you pick in advance, best or worst, so it's fair for everyone's talent levels. Some people might even go the worst route for fun, not knowing what path is the winning one.

Dave

Create an illusion. It could be food, fabric, sculpture, or something on paper or canvas. Anything really.

Lisa Renner

Put the captive in a cage and tickle him with a spooky feather.

curious george

Make a creepy centerpiece/vignette using a faux plant or flowers. Incorporate the prey and predator theme.

curious george

Christine I had an idea for an episode and its small. A gothic dog/cat bed. Lol it's cool if you think the idea silly. It just came to me.

Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Smith-Clark

what about a video tour of one of your favorite rooms in your house ? kinda like how christine did the candle lit tour .

Melissa Peterson

How about a written description, photo, or painting of our dream burial site? (Or even better, we can wait until we're dead and have a loved one submit a photo of the final result?)

Samantha Gerard

Create a book cover and a title for Christine's next spooky book. Handcraft or draw/paint it, etc.

curious george

Create a Christine doll with props. Could be any props ie your cats, Rose, food replicas from your cookbook. Or maybe recreate items from your cookbook with an ‘on-theme’ twist or a new food/bakery item that’s on-theme with the wall coverings!

Vee Oliver

A Victorian style craft project that is made to display in our home. Spooky style.

Kim Sirak

How about making a miniaturepainting to match the wonderful wallpaper. And the creepiest/best/funniest or some other criteria wins:)

Madeleine Ytterberg

It would be cool if someone in this group designed a tasty treat for one holiday episode. The winner is the person w/ the coolest concept or design! ✨🧁🍰🍪🍦🍬🍫 Another cool idea is who can write the best poem of a specific subject you chose. ✍️ 📝

Marina salinas

Contest idea: What if you made a paper doll version of Rose that we could print out. The contest part would be that we have to design a special outfit (maybe a Halloween costume?) for Rose and then show it using the paper doll? Or if Rose is off limits (bc of not owning the rights haha), it could be a Christine paper doll! Then for a future episode, you could make the winner's idea into a real outfit that you wear.

Buggie

We could get the cheesiest/ cheapest mask from a dollar store, etc., and see how we make it amazing

Roxyblu

Christine could give us a list of 5-10 common items, and with a time limit, see what we com up with

Roxyblu

What about creating a custom piece of jewelry for Christine that fits her criteria? She could define what she wants and we could create it using whatever materials we have on hand

Kimberly Alexander

I love this idea so much!!!

Sara E Briggs

Embellish a skull in spooky Victorian style and place it in a predator/prey tabletop setting/wreath.

curious george

If you were invited for a stay in this room, what would you wear to arrive at the manor?

Maria Byers

Forgive me if someone else has already suggested this, but I think a diorama/book nook featuring one or several of the critters in residence at McConnell Manor, including the owls and bats, would be a bit of tiny fun. Perhaps the winner could get pride of place in a bookcase at said Manor.

Amber Huls

How about Floral arranging

Christie

Give us a prompt to have us draw something that you will then turn into something. Be it a design, painting, embroidery, etcetera. That way you can judge on ideas vs drawing ability.

Brittany Gillett

Pumpkin carving

BethW

What about a contest where we have to dress up for Halloween with our pets and the best customer duo of pet and owner wins.

Eric Becker

What size fern do you buy for tighter spaces like corners?

Mariana Alarcon

An Autumn or Halloween haiku contest!

Joslyn Hullihan

So I’m very late, but as a creative, I find that it’s really hard to categorize “vintage” or even the Victorian era as a timeline. I think that a project (or room) that sort of plays through aspects of “vintage” or even the Victorian era would be really cool.

Johnny

How about a Fall-themed Pyrography Competition? (Pyrography is a design burned onto a medium such as wood or bone using a fine tipped torch- can be found at most craft stores.) *Pyrography on bone is called Scrimshaw.

Rebecca Lynn Broadbent

How about a pumpkin carving contest for one part and you pick say 4 objects like bones, fur, cotton candy and bats. Then we have to create something using those elements. For instance, I could come up with a scene, with a skeleton arm coming out of a fur coat wearing a bat ring, holding cotton candy... it could be on any format, medium, real or drawen.

Irene mitola

Halloween Inspired! How about a dress up your ‘finest’ competition? Like dress up your finest cat, dog, child, or captive! Best costume submission wins! Don’t have those? Don’t fret! A skeleton or scarecrow will do just fine!

Alyse Kiyuna

The 'Bring Me To Life' Contest? Christine would create an outline/silhouette of a creature (bat, owl, cat, random mythical shape) and our job is to give it features, colour, a name, a purpose, a backstory, favourite method of attack, etc. Maybe Christine could write set questions to ensure our creature descriptions aren't the length of the harry potter series haha.

Spam

I’m not the best writer, so a drawing/digital art/photo or painting contest would be so awesome!!

Fae Andrea

Any personally crafted halloween item...maybe 5 categories...edible, decorative, clever/funny/humorous, scary, and a best combo overall?

Cbon

Great minds think alike, Lisa ;)

Brittany Male

A Halloween decoration made using something you already had or thrifted, giving it a new (after)life 💀

Emma Beetle

What about a two part submission? Imaginative: Submit an antique/thrift find that would absolutely terrify you. Describe the item in one sentence. Creative: Create an easy funny “trick or treater bag/pail”, using no more than 3 common household items. Submit a photo with NO description. Let the photo speak for itself!

Brittany LoDico

Simply stunning ! With relation to competition ideas , Brittany Male has already submitted what I was going to suggest : This room was a prey & predator theme with the Owl and the rat, could we choose the next theme you work on ? Either for a room or a project of your choice. I would suggest Gods & Monsters, basing your creation on the latin word 'Meduse' where you could play with Medusa from Greek mythology and Jellyfish (known as méduses in French). Jellyfish can be so beautiful & graceful and yet soooo deadly. Their filaments remind me of floating silk.

lisa alderton

Restoring vintage luggage episode ? Perhaps?

Tamara Prendergast

A creative project you've done on your house already or something new that needs to be completed. Showcase how you've individualized your home.

Leah.Maxi

What about a contest where we describe our dream project? Whether it's a dream project that Christine does or our own DIY that might be Christine influenced?!

Jessica Darne

a photography contest would be really fun!!

Jack Beheler

How about a contest with your town or cities urban legend or ghost stories!!!! It always fascinating!!

Linda Parr

What about a spooky short story contest. Limit the length of course but it could be fun to see what everyone can come up with, especially if given a theme or setting like, an unofficial episode for your Netflix show (copyright?) or set in your lovely house? Another idea would be a Mocktail contest. I know this has already been suggested but it’s actually a tradition in my family to have a Mocktail contest every Halloween. We just set parameters to the contest that vary to keep it interesting. Either a theme (swamp witch, vampire wine, etc) and/or a required ingredient (citrus, something red, ginger beer). You could pick a theme that works with whatever you are planning to do for Halloween this year and an ingredient you particularly like, with the idea that the winning recipe would be used by you at a party or other gathering.

Lady Barronmore

Hi Kristine can you one around animal rescue? Best animal rescue stories or something like that? People who rescue animals do not get enough credit or accolades so it would be great to shine a light on their stories and promote the need to help animals who have been abandoned.

Suzanne Robinson

Let us choose between submitting a Halloween costume or a Halloween dish. Choose 2 that you find most creative from each category.

Kelly Minton

Ooooh give a doll a spooky make over! Get as scary and messed up as you can, just don't gift it to any little princesses! (Or maybe do and the sceamiest/scariest reaction wins)😂😉😂

Linda

The room turned out amazing, I loved seeing it in the daylight. Since you have mentioned that you would like to design many different wallpapers, maybe a contest where people could pick a spooky theme they would like to see you interpret into a wallpaper.

Willow Birch

Since spooky season is upon us (YAY) perhaps the contest can involve contestants presenting what Halloween means to them and why they love Halloween...this can be evoked through any medium albeit written story, through a drawing, or other physical art medium? Good luck everyone!

Jenny McKinsey

How about folks submit a self portrait, but it could be any media. They could write a word description, a story, a picture, or anything that represents them. That way you could "meet" more of your subscribers.

Kathleen Mroczko

Contest Idea- Halloween Vignette People can create a Halloween vignette in their home as an entry. Their theme of choice but must create some of the scene themselves , not just store bought props.

Rachel Green

Good afternoon Christine, I'm new to your patreon and am loving it! Might I suggest a predator vs prey center piece suitable for Halloween as a contest suggestion for those whom talents fall outside of the written word? Thank you for sharing your amazing talents with us.

El M

Thank you for the magic in all your creations. You are blessed with a talent not often seen. My wife is very creative and I'm often amazed at what she designs. I watched the creation of your scarecrow. I'm inspired. I hope to make one of my own this up coming month for October. Keep the inspiration coming. I can't wait to see what's next. God bless

Brett D. Cotten

Oh yes, the planning/anticipation is half the fun. I think it would feel so rewarding to see how someone uses what I created. She is giving away some really expensive wallpaper and I would hate to think whoever wins it, would just stick it away in a closet. And I must confess, I would like to have a roomful of this paper.

robin g

How about a From the Mind merch designing contest? Could be anything from quippy lines to artistic designs, for any number of items

Melissa

Hi Christine. I say submit something made; a baked good, art, or my favorite….nail art that you pick as your favorite. This gives those that can’t easily think of something to write a chance AND you get to check out crafty submissions. Thanks for the contests!

Emily Pedersen

Whatever the contest- I am ready 💪. Baby Josephine (7.31.23) needs a new nursery!

Annie Kendig

To add onto a previous comment about the Anthony Flores idea above by Robin G, where people could show and tell you the plans they have for the wallpaper... To get people to work with tools that they may not be familiar with, they have to provide a photo shopped picture of the room with the paper on it. The image doesn't have to be perfect or beautiful to win, because there are people who already have mastered PS, it just has to be included. I like the idea of urging people to use tools they may not be familiar with or haven't used in awhile, it may spark someone's motivation for something else they have been wanting to do! This can also be accompanied by a short story of how they want to feel when they walk into the room they install it in.

Julie McDonnell

I really like this idea! Sometimes just having an idea for something is the most people have time for, or the head space for. I love others' ideas of being creative outside of the contest prize, but some types are, "I see something, it would look great here, it would make feel like [this] when I walk into the room I install it in, etc." Sometimes expressing your passion for the project gets you more excited, productive and creative!

Julie McDonnell

Perhaps crafting a spooky or magical cocktail/mocktail?

Locked thecat

Ideas of decorating a bedroom with a different theme from that era. I have several in mind.

Vicki

Pumpkin, pineapple or squash carving contest?

Ace&Otis

Dear Christine, why not ask your patrons to 1. create a desert that is appropriate to be served in the room decorated with this special wallpaper or 2. put together an outfit that reflects the mood of the room the wallpaper will be in or 3. craft a small decorative object that will go along great with it when put in the same room. I'm looking forward to the contest. Greetings from Germany <3

Christina Wiesner

Contest Idea: create a gothic short horror story/ghost story about and taking place in Christine's remodeled guest room. Must mention the wallpaper in some way within the story-telling.

Kinky Bitch Comix

Christine, I really like Anthony Flores contest idea so I can't claim it as my own. But I will add that you seeing the plans of what a contestant has in mind to do with your wallpaper design makes a lot of sense. And the winner could later share a photo of the installed paper. It would be really exciting to see how someone chooses to use it in their own setting...

robin g

I think a story, a prop, a artwork, and a outfit inspired by the new wall paper would be a great combination and opens the door for multi lanes of creativity.

Sabrina Weiss

What about this idea: there are five potential winners so have 4 different areas of competition. Like, for example 1: crafting 2: photography/art/portraits 3: dressmaking and fashion 4: interior design Anyone who wants to enter the competition just chooses one area to enter into, and you judge one winner from each. To narrow it down further you could say they have to be connected to videos you’ve made, using techniques or inspiration from your own creations. Or you could choose 4 different animals, or 4 different seasons, and entries choose one and create something incorporating that theme. Edit to add: most people here are crafty and talented in different areas, and probably have specific skills and interests. We can use what we’re good at and find a way to fit it into one of the 4 areas. Also, it wouldn’t really cost us money if we already have interests or hobbies in that area, making it fair and inclusive.

Sara Sweeney

If you have room for a Victorian Style dolls house, how about having your patrons make miniatures with a Gothic/Macabre feel to the pieces. If people aren’t good at being crafty, they could perhaps have an idea board with drawings, photos or templates/patterns 🏰🔮🏺🪞🪡🧵🧟‍♀️🧙‍♀️

Diana Rozevskis (DiArts)

Contest idea! To come up with which crime each of the pet's would specialise in if they were sentient spooky little criminals...

Victoria Aubrey

Contest idea! - Photo challenge - recreate your favorite renaissance painting. You can use selfmade probs, photoshop… BUT exchange one thing into something spooky/halloween 🎃✨

Larissa

What would be very interesting to me would be how to do dust ? Are there any hacks to this . . . I have allergies wich do require me to dust a lot round my house but i love this antique look and would like to recreate some stuff ! Thanks

HowdyHun

How about continuing the room makeover theme by redoing a room in your home and imagining how the owl paper would look in it?

Nelia Torres

It's been mentioned a couple of times already, but a Halloween wreath would be fun for the contest, it could be any size, anywhere from miniature for a doll's house, or huge for absurdity :)

Jennifer Lynn Becker

Contest idea- you are a hosting a Victorian dinner party for the family that used to live in the house, provide the three course dinner menu you’ll be serving

Maya valenzuela

As Halloween approaches where we all get to celebrate all things spooky and horror, for the contest we could create/draw a Christine inspired horror movie character!!!

Yvonne Rodgers

For the competition how about a story, picture or photo of what type of monster/creature the person would choose to be and they could either do themselves or their pet or both :)

Zoeayn Pollard

How about an antique toy theme contest? I think it's broad enough that anyone could make a toy with something they can thrift or buy supplies for cheaply. Toys could be anything from dolls, stuffed animals, carved wood figures, metal cast things. Some of my favorite antique finds are old handmade dolls that look like the crypt keepers toys.

Potatodoll

What about a submission of attempts of your past crafts… I’ve had a go at the scarecrow, the ginger bread man, the sewn lipped face mask, the pie and the edible ouija from the TV show…. Crumbs…. I’ve done a lot! Lol x

Cee Fee

I keep going back and looking at the room!!!! Christine I am in awe of what you have done ❤️

Cee Fee

This room is just amazing!!

Lori Ratcliff

Contest idea: create a diorama of Christine's guest room! 🦉🐀

Brooke Nankin

What about a theme that can be interpreted as either a written piece or craft so people can decide how they want to interpret it and put it in the medium that inspires them? The theme could be as general as "spooky" or specific as "monster graveyard". The limits could be that it should only take an hour to write/make.

Mariah Huehner

Will there be a house tour?

Shaylin Cecere

Yes! What a great way to put it!!

Kathryn Hess

I don't have an idea for a contest but with how large the house seems to be, why not have a secret library. With Floor to ceiling bookshelfs full of old books and a sliding ladder I bet it would look amazing. You can buy quality latter kits and or just hardware for a ladder from cshardware.

Christina Wilkerson

Name our favorite episode or show off an inspired recreation. DIY our own Salem, MA inspired craft. Pass a dish from the 1860s at the next family gathering, share the recipe.

Ceresa

No contest ideas, but that room in insanely gorgeous. I love the touches of gilt, especially against that chocolate brown. In my experience, velvet attracts cat hair like flame attracts moths. If you don't have one, the Uproot Clean is the absolute best pet hair remover I have ever encountered. The handheld one might be super useful on your velvet bedding. (https://uprootclean.com)

Amy Mullen

An alternative craft for Halloween. At the Alaska State Fair they have a craft competition. Every year it is a wonderful assortment of weird crafts. Sparkles with glue, carved recycled things. They are all wonderful and remind me of Weird Barbie. Weird Barbie Halloween Craft!

Marnie Kaler

Video tutorials for how to create their favorite Halloween decoration/food/whatever and then an episode where you put your own spin on it!

Brittany Marie

Funniest Amazon review contest 🤣 Best thrift flip. Best dating profile for your pet. So many ideas 💡

Natalie

This is a fantastic idea!

Sara E Briggs

It’s October of 1790 in Sleepy Hollow, NY. You’re invited to a feast at Balthus Van Tassel’s house. What do you bring as a gift for the hostess?

AndreaCronin

How to incorporate your wallpaper/theme into a Victorian memorial shadow box for the dearly departed human/pet. In my case it would be my Bella (pictured with me).

Judy Campanella

BRB.. flying to South America since I'm fresh out of capybaras

Christine Lambert

Christine, I really hope you do a cat theme wallpaper in the future. 😋

Heather Watkins

Contest: Dress up like me and then you’ll show me/How well it is you think you know me

Jennifer

Design your own deck of Tarot Cards (if not for the contest, maybe a future craft-along).

Christine Lambert

I really enjoyed watching your finishing touches episode of the guest room, I especially loved your demo on how to add faux flowers and plant arrangements using inexpensive finds like the plastic urn.. I think it would be fun to have a contest on making spooky and gothic looking planters ( and it can be repurposed items like old pots, cauldrons, bowls, urns , or any piece of junk laying around the house etc... and with your own personal touches and spooky additions)

Sara E Briggs

Love the interminable Poof. This wonderful setup and suggestion opens up a great angle on the house, the legacy that Christine is giving to her and how her supporters might all become a part-of / captive-to it. Not unlike putting your name on an interplanetary spacecraft for aliens to find, or saltily becoming “part-of-the-crew, part-of-the-ship”, there’s perhaps opportunity for Patrons to create / become-part-of a breadcrumb-trail / Ariadne’s-thread / DaMcConnell-Code to secret panels, passages, gardens, messages, loose floorboards, gargoyles, gravestones, tree knotholes, loose bricks, mounds in the basement sluethed-together letters & symbols about the McConnell estate.

Chad Leeper

One of the challenges should be a Halloween wreath! Or holiday wreath in general?

Cordelia

I like that because the winner is objective rather than an opinion

Christine Lambert

The contest could be submitting design/theme ideas for your next room or wallpaper! You have the 20,000 leagues under the sea room, and now the woodland creatures themed room ... whatever you do next could come from a contest winner :)

Brittany Male

predator and prey theme? I like this

Alexa F

I second that!

Alexa F

Halloween is coming up and costumes are starting to get made. How about a costume contest? 🎃

Dawson Land

Thanks! I'll look into it! 😊

Charlotte Gautier

How about "count the jellybeans in a jar" contest? But with something a little more frightening like *jelly eyeballs* instead lol

DC

A contest to see who can write the scariest six sentence ghost story!!

kimberly Flanary Starr

I just saw someone today hang a vintage fixture and they used rechargeable light bulbs in it so that they could stay wireless. I'm not sure how long the bulbs hold a charge, but it might be worth looking into.

Tammi Harris-Crocheted Atrocities

Pet portrait competition? Our own or Christine's!

Fia Kavanagh

Creature contest! Build/craft your own creepy pet and it's home (similar to the bat and cage episode). Guidelines include using mostly recycled elements.

Jessica Huennekens

Fan art? A title for an imagined episode, with a brief synopsis? Logo redesigns? A recreation/interpretation of one of your recipes? A DIY project done in the Christine McConnell style?

Devoshka

Use any idea from Christine's book and create your own version or spin on it

Breanna Neville

Inspired by Christine's interests on dining sets and having a table look nice. A cool idea would be Autumn/ Halloween moody dinner table decor competition. This video is all about decor and finishing touches after all.

Lia Argentou

I loved this episode, we get to see so much! It’s such a stunning room, I’m in awe 😍🦉

Amy Bainbridge

A puppet musical lol

Amanda skye Fray

Honestly the room is absurdly beautiful 🖤 you worked so hard and it shows, it's absolutely magical.

Sarah Kane

Fantastic ❤️

Sarah Kane

I love this idea... I'm going to do this either way lol

Sarah Kane

Recommend turn of the century Halloween party /carnivals with a dark twist,, innocent but malivent, there could be different areas, best dish, best vintage costume, best decoration,, or even those old staged pictures with parlor tricks to make them supernatural,,,like those sweet but uneasy Halloween fests.,,,Style of Miss Peregrine's.

Julie Anderson

Paper /fabric mache masks. It's affordable and artistic, so it can appeal to a variety of people! You could even make 4 categories (i.e. Scary, Masquerade, fantasy, gothic) and have a winner from each category. Many different types of artists and crafters can utilize their skills in creating and decorating their mask. You don't need a lot of space for this project either, which allows more people to participate. 🖤

Stevi Goletto

I think the most inclusive contest would have some sort of spooky them, but the actual submissions could be anything that really appeals to the five senses. Maybe six, to keep it weird 😄 A lot of contests are very visual, and mixing it up would allow everyone an opportunity to shine. So someone who enjoys sound could submit a piece of music or even some asmr with an autumnal ambience. Smell could be a soap with a custom, hand blended scent. Touch could be a luxurious lace shawl. Whatever. There won't need to be a winner for each sense because hopefully most of the entries would include at least three or four 😄 But I think this would really allow each person's individual creativity to sparkle 🌟

Ann LF

Murder mystery game!! Like in a party!! 🥳

Lizzy

I say whoever can catch and taxidermy the biggest rat wins!

Kevin Alterman

Something that could be fun is creating your own repeating pattern wallpaper design! I know I’d be interested to see what others interpretations of Predator and Prey would be!

Jesse Fraser

Immortal Poof!

Racheal Jones

Ha ha! Yes!

Racheal Jones

Or putting together an outfit for attending a seance.

Katherine Bennett

Turning a traditionally non-spooky item from the thrift store, antique mall, or your own attic, into a halloween decoration or year round spooky decor.

Katherine Bennett

Keep the Predator/Prey theme for any art piece that features Christine as the Predator and the Captive as the prey. Bonus points for Professor Floof Easter Eggs

Rebecca Moses

How about the best Halloween decoration made from recycled materials! Go green this Halloween! Also the room is just so cozy and beautiful, it looks like it should be in a movie. And your cats are such cute little models :)

Sarah

I respectfully suggest that you hold a “Name the Captive” contest.

Trent Dotson

Creating a creepy scarecrow would be a fun contest

Crystal Nuthall

Contest idea: create a Victorian Halloween decoration from circa the time Christine’s house was built and the best, most creatively executed and historically accurate one wins.

Madeleine

I love the idea of a costume contest! Another idea is a Halloween craft contest. People can submit a spooky craft they made this year!

Emmanuelle Wambach

What about making a lover's eye for one of the contests? They're super cool, a little spooky, and on the smaller side (usually worn as jewelry) so they're not as time-consuming to make as a larger object, and they could be done in a few different mediums: http://katieconsiders.com/2018/06/05/miniature-lovers-eye-jewelry/

Aurelea River

Here are my ideas: Idea for one of the contests: 1. Photos of yourself ( and captive if you have one) in Halloween Costume. Best costume wins. 2. A baked item (cake, cookies etc) in the spirit of Halloween. Submit picture of creation and yourself in same photo. Best one wins. Love love love your beautiful room you finished!! - Dee Prince

Dee Prince

What about a design a room contest. People could share their plans of how they would use the wall paper. People could sketch an idea, write a description, create a miniature, maybe even build the room in a game like The Sims and send in pics of the room they created.

Rebecca Armstrong

I think this is such a cool idea! Because there's so much room for individual creativity. One person could do a dollhouse scene and another person could make a cake and another person could do embroidery...

Aurelea River

I think it would be so fun and interesting if you held a photo recreation contest! Contestants choose a photo of you/yours and recreate it in funny/beautiful/creative ways.

Jennifer Treviño

I second this idea. Love it...

robin g

Lip dub contest with your footage, ala Welcome To My Home. For the uninitiated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQokp6UvYwk

themaefive

Love these ideas :) Will this be an international contest or US only?

Rachel

A floral arrangement contest would be so fun, not everyone has the dexterity for drawing or painting. Or submitting a yummy Halloween recipe, writing a spooky Fall/Halloween poem, or submit a photo of your 2023 Halloween decorating theme.

Holly Drommerhausen

Submit a design for a Halloween costume! The theme can be decided by you or dealer's choice :)

Stassia H

An idea I have is to have your family help stage a haunted house scene.

Cynthia Watson

Recreate anything Christine has demonstrated in a previous video

Jess

I’d like to suggest an “Inspired by the Mind of Christine McConnell” Fall or Winter Craft contest. Each submission could be any craft the maker chooses done in a way that clearly conveys your style and influence. Sewing, painting, floral arrangements or even table settings. Contestants would submit a photo of their work. Top 25 chosen by Patreon votes with final winners chosen by you and the Captive. Only rule would be to not copy exactly something you’ve done.

Tammy Warner

Contest idea: "Postcards from the Mind" Create a postcard with picture/drawing on one side and writing on the other (keeping to standard postcard dimensions). Then you can choose to have 3 different winners: a) best pic/drawing on front, b) best writing on back and/or c) best overall

PBJ

In honor of the wallpaper, how about a contest where people submit pictures they've taken of their favorite rodent?

Lauri Howard

Contest idea: Maybe an online “Clue” (like the board game) scavenger hunt that we can interact with, the items could be in your videos or rooms? The five to uncover clues wins, not sure how that would pan out but could be fun! I found this online for laying out a scavenger hunt: Create a list of items, riddles, and/or questions Choose a virtual platform for hosting (e.g. Zoom, scavenger hunt app, etc.) Set a start time and date Share the rules with participants Go hunting! Tally scores and determine winners Post-event hangout, event, slideshow, etc. (Or on a side note, having a photo contest with pets for the fall season, or best photo caption if people don’t have pets. There’s a lot of possibilities. )

Sybil

Contest idea: create and submit a photo of something you created in what ever style you would like, as long as it's an owl theme.

Leslie Langenegger

I think we should be able to submit photos of the room we'd use the wallpaper in and you can choose your favorites where you think the wallpaper would be best suited.

Anthony Flores

The simplest idea is guess how many skulls are in the jar… ☠️

Heidi Eschedor

Contest: if there was a street/town to be named after Christine...what would that name be? (Obviously not Christine McConnell LOL) Something that represented her. 💝

Sophia Z

Contest Idea.... Have someone submit their attempt and total fail at trying one of your crafts/DIYs!! This happened to me and it was hilarious!! I attempted your Faux Vase Arrangement when you 1st moved into the mansion & WOW what a disaster that was. I shouldve taken pics haha!!!

Elinor Lee

I'm so glad I found out where you were while watching you on YouTube. I enjoy your art and work so much that I decided to join patreon. You're the only person I follow. 🦉🐁

Sage

As a contest idea. I suggest having somebody write a one-page ghost story. The story can feature the characters that are probably displayed in the guest bedroom. This can include the characters on the wallpaper itself or the people in the portraits.

Tony Lawrence

As far as a submission for a contest idea. I suggest writing a one page ghost story featuring the characters that are prominently displayed in the guest room. This can include the characters on the wallpaper for the people featured in the portraits.

Tony Lawrence

Remember the skeleton episode where it was posed and the bow chica bow bow music played? That cracked me up. Maybe a sexy skeleton photo? Or fun posed skeleton photo.

Janette Perez

I think a Spooky Pet Photo contest would be super fun, considering the wallpaper is predator-and-prey themed 🎃 Not necessarily a pet costume contest, nor should it be just for pets that are inherently spooky… I’m thinking gorgeous shots of a cat lingering in a pumpkin patch, a dog looking particularly wolfish, a bunny giving Bunnicula vibes 🩸 Mayhaps a winner for each category of pet? Best cat photo, best dog, best other/unique pet, and best group of spooky critters sound like fun categories to me 🐈‍⬛🕷️🐺 🐸

Kristin Yeager

Thank you for "lighting" the actual video taping of/in this episode (a little more). It helped me see things so much better. I might be your eldest subscriber and it helps with my old eyes LOL 😍

Sophia Z

How about a contest to design a macabre familiar’s playhouse?

Tammy Lumm

I think it would be fun for everyone to submit their best and worst/most ridiculous Halloween costume ideas. These could be costumes that they have worn before or just ideas in general🦇 🎃 A costume contest would be fun, too!! :)

Kellie Kimble

The year is 2096. You hurry through the rain with your suitcase in tow up the steps onto the grand porch of the haunted McConnell Manor. The large wooden door creaks as you enter the foyer, candlelit sconces dotting the walls. You approach the check-in desk where an elderly gentleman in a tailcoat hands you a large brass key and says you will be staying in room number 3. When you get to the steps, you find Poof waiting on the bottom step. While the many residents of the house have lived and died, people question what happened the night Poof snuck to the top of the widow’s walk during a thunderstorm and received the shock of a lifetime. Apparently the shock of multiple lifetimes, since Poof hasn’t aged a day since that lightening strike. His large eyes wait for you to reach him before turning and leading you up. You go up the steps, enthralled by every photo and oil painting on the walls. You follow the swishing of Poof’s tail down the hall to room 3. You open the door to the first guest room completed more than 70 years ago. The paint on the walls has faded, the upholstery has become paper thin, and the portraits are cracked with age. But you can feel exactly how it would have felt the first day it was done. And there on the vanity, the hotel stationery, the design picked from a contest in 2023…

Kathryn Hess

For the contest, how about upload before and after pictures of your own renovation project, could be furniture or a room, etc.

Kris P

As Halloween is approaching and it’s the best holiday of the year 🎃 what if everyone made a Halloween, Fall or spooky season greeting card! I would love to recieve a whole pile of these every year, just like we do with Christmas cards! You could make one from paper, draw or paint, or use digital skills as well. That way, everyone would have an opportunity to shine. Another idea is to share your favourite spooky season tradition. You could include photos if it’s decorating your home, recipes if it’s baking, book or movie lists etc. I have a whole month of fun stuff planned but I’m always looking for more things to add to my list so it would be cool to see what everyone else loves doing! I’m from New Zealand, so not much Halloween excitement bubbling up down here, but I just pretend it’s Autumn again and ignore everyone who says I shouldn’t be decorating in September 😅

Shannon prouse

My suggestion is to pick a theme or a favourite quote, and allow people to submit whatever sparks their imagination regarding it. For example, if the quote/theme is "Quoth the Raven" someone could bake a raven shaped cake, while another who loves writing might do their own take on Poe's story, etc.

Tasia Barrett

I think that it would be neat to show how your videos have affected our lives. Have we decorated about house with your influences? Do we bake some spooky cookies? Have we learned how to use an airbrush? How has your videos impacted us. That way in case you are not good with videos or writing, you can do a photo with an explanation.

Paige Williams

Is it just the way it was filmed of did you manage to make those antique lamps wireless? Is there a secret to doing this? Because I NEED it! 😍

Charlotte Gautier

What about having level of craftiness categories? For example, Professional, Expert, Novice, General Crafter or Basic Crafting. Then go off of creativity, Hit me with your best shot!

Ranee Scott

Ooohhhh, what about something that can demonstrate people’s artistic ability? Since you demonstrate that to us regularly :) with fall approaching, what if people submitted a picture of pumpkin carvings, but since we are still technically in summer, they can carve any kind of fruit or vegetable they want. The weirder the better!

Sarah vyeda

A contest with a recipe for the best witches brew cocktail or mocktail! (Non-lethal so the blood sucking lawyers don’t get involved 😉)

Laura Chambers

Contest idea: In keeping with the predator / prey theme, ask people to describe in detail how they would stage their own death, and what predator would they wrongfully implicate in the process.

Anne Z Knight

So you already have writing, perhaps a physical crafted works, digital works, photography and lastly an misc umbrella category?

Ana K

Is the nautical wallpaper still in the works?

Judy

Hi Christine! OK, so my idea stems from the idea of a thousand paper cranes granting a wish or giving eternal good luck/happiness. Instead of cranes I thought spiders as a replacement for a few reasons. One being you favor them, and to build on that, spiders lay hundreds of eggs. The idea is that you hit a certain number of spiders of your choosing, a number important to you; to both inspire people who wouldn't normally try a craft project to hit the number you're trying for, but also let people who want to, go above and beyond with the spider they would want keep. The contest would be everyone creates a spider that represents themeselves, trying to fit within a certain size restriction. Materials such as: paper(origami), clay, wood, metal, like it would be heavy but nuts and bolts if they work with that type of materials, or jewelry wire if that's their cup of tea. But instead of one it would be two spiders. (Practice makes perfect, lol). They could take pictures and submit them and if they chose to they can send one of the spiders to you (in a collective magic sort of way, referencing back to the cranes here) as a part of a larger project that your Patreons made for you! Each spider is unique like the person that made it, but lend the elegance of a spider and the spirit of creepiness that their creators personality appreciate. If someone is going all out due to the nature of materials and it had to be larger, they could submit images of that and send a smaller representative spider to you. Even if future Patreons see the video later on, they could create and send one to you then too. It would all come together as a 3D collage for you to put together with that amazing sight you have. My original idea was a lamp in the idea of a crystal chandelier but with the smaller spiders dropping down from a nest where the light would be. Then I thought something easier like a wall art where the spiders create an image, such as a mother spider. I'm sure you can incorporate them into something else you would love. At this point I feel like this idea is just spinning out (pun intended) and morphing as I continue. 🕷🕸😅 It could be a charm for everyone that has one too, because every time they see it, it connects them back to the happiness and inspiration created by everyone here on Patreon in sending their spider to the collective you have. (Side note here, 1. I'm seeing a lot of witchyness that wasn't part of the original idea. 2. If enough people send you one, I'm seeing a large build up of energy on the collage. Idk if that's a warning or not, because I just thought this, but it would be positive energy, right? 3. I didn't realize they were going to be personal charms but on that note) You could play on the witchy idea since Halloween is around the corner. Saying that they would be making the spider just as a craft, but then suggest to everyone how to make it a charm (If they want to), like a necklace, brooch, ring, hair piece, a cuff link or key chain (resin it for strength). Explaining the way it connects back to the positive energy of the collage. Or not, and just make it a cool project where everyone sends you a spider. Either way, that's what I have for you. Thank you for the inspiration you give me everytime I watch your videos. It means more then you could know. 💜🍁 AG

Ashley

Tis the season for everything witchy... Since there would be 5 winners how about a 5 course witches' Dinner where the winners would be selected from deliciously macabre recipes/presentations. One winner from each course from appetizer through to desserts... then we are all winners with the perfect menu for a completely unique dinner party where you can inspire us all to take it to the next level as you always do! Wouldn't that table look amazing in a room donning P&P Paper?

Angela M Eliasz

But not everyone has access to all the videos so that changes the playing field.

Ranee Scott

Love the pumpkin carving! Something everyone can do.

Ranee Scott

Yes, like you can only use items from Dollar Tree. That would make it very challenging.

Ranee Scott

I think a fabulous idea is to get people to submit their very best Christine drag race snatch game style impersonation, as a video, just a photo or something 🤞👏🏳️‍🌈slay x

Adam James Jurgen Slack

A fun idea for the contest might be for people to submit either an eerie photograph or portrait that they’ve created. It could then hang on the picture rail in the next room you decorate! Essentially an exchange of artwork and the wallpaper!

Martha Thursday

Hello Christine! I think there definitely needs to be a sewing submission option. Perhaps we pick a theme and then people can interpret that into any type of wondrous creation of thread and fabric they so choose!

Caron Scheeler

Take something or things from a thrift store and DIY it such as flip, refinish, craft whatever is affordable for you.

Jess

This was a lovely bonus video, thank you for sharing these details! 💐

Jess Meister

For the contest have people come up with a fun secret pass phrase to gain entry to a secret meeting in the room. Something like - "There's a swarm of bees in the walled garden"

Dakota

What about, the person could make their own short craft video, pretending to be you, to the best of their abilities. :-D Or at least a photo mock-up. ;-) Nothing "fancy" just using their phone. That way everyone has the ability.

Dave

Hello Christine the Room is so beautiful 😍 you are truly an amazing artist 🙂 About the contest It will be nice to create something unique And then you could pick what you like best Or create a whimsical bird house / Find the best forest and filmed or take a picture spooky scene 🎬 Or make a wreath For the fall . I hope you all have a fantastic weekend 🙂

Lorena zitelli

I know you said other than writing, but I love the idea of a spooky, Poe-esque poem or song!

NICOLE CAPPS

I want to live in that room! Let's do a pet contest, even from the past. Why not make old photos look spooky or spookier than they are ....

Anna Radaelli

Have you any antique card decks and/or bone dice? One of the contests could be sheer luck-based. Open a thread, have people comment to enter the luck contest. Even if all 12k patrons enter, you can get down to one winner within 3 draws (or 6 throws, if you only have a die). Deck=divides the list of entrants into 52, with A-K in standard ♣♦♥♠ order. So an ace of clubs narrow the pool down to the first 1/52 of the entrants, a 5 of hearts would be the 31/52nd 52nd-ile of entrants, etc. (To avoid non-integer weirdness or dividing people 🪓, the last 52nd-ile would have a different number of people. To find the number of people rescued by a card, divide total entries by 51. Round down-- that's how many are associated with each card. The leftover/remainder of the list of entrants are associated with the King of Spades). You would do the same, just dividing the list into sextiles, if you wanted to only use a die roll. Shuffle the deck and repeat again to narrow down further--you should now have a pool of less than 6 entrants. You can then roll a die until you land on a winner. (List names, each name gets a number 1, 2, 3 etc. A roll of 6 of 5, if you don't have a person in the slot, means roll again.) Roll until you get a number associated with an entrant 🎲

Neda

Make any inanimate object, scary, ghostly, creepy - via upcycling things around your house! So its cost effective, and brings the craftiness out in all of us!!

Toshia Johnson

I would love to see contest submissions for the most hilarious or unusual room accessory. Or some before/after pics.

Niki Hughes

Will the Wallpaper no longer be available after the pre-sale??

Amy (Izzy) Star

Contest idea: best handcrafted antique style plaster pumpkin or cat bucket.

Amy (Izzy) Star

A halloween themed photo contest with pets or a favorite animal in the room one hopes to decorate with your fabulous wallpaper snd border.

Heather Watkins

Some ideas I have for a contest would be a spooky plant-based cooking contest (perhaps people could share previous tutorials you have made and their attempt or original creations that you could attempt in the future!) Another option would be replicating past postcards/prints you have made with ourselves in a funny way!

Cecilia

Best attempt at our cat cosplaying as Christine

Amy Plante

Ideas for your contest. 1) Picture of best gift to give a spirit 2) Art contest -drawing /artwork of your house

Julie Knowles

This is a great suggestion!!

June Leigh

“Golden Ghouls”!! OG followers know Christine’s love for those icons. 😉 Submit a reimagined pic or description of your fave Golden Girl but it has to have a spooky twist to it!!! Hear me out: Blanche as Elvira is definitely a vibe 🖤

Kelsey Rothe

For your contest, I think you should have your Patrons submit ideas for a "guest package" - something that you as a hostess would leave in that room to welcome visiting guests. The more hand-made items, the better.

Tammi Harris-Crocheted Atrocities

Best (cute, funny, “ugly”, creepy) Halloween costume! Could be from when one was a child or current past 🤡👻👹🤖👽💀🎃😸 Btw your guest room really inspired me to work on my families living room (the whole room is white 🤢). My mom and I look forward to everything you post! 🖤

Felisa Ann Montenegro

How about we submit a sketch of how we would use the wallpaper?

Jennifer

how about we all channel our inner Christine and submit a photographic vingette that best captures our own version of what I refer to as the Mcconnel core aesthetic.

Kellie Wachter

So, I was thinking, if you were ever to write a book about your beautiful home, how about a competition to design a book cover which would accompany it? Say it was a book about ghostly tales, creating a title and cover would be really fun!

Cher Currie

"Failed It".

Chad Leeper

Christine McConnell version of Nailed It: we post our hilarious failures to recreate one of your projects and the winner is whichever makes you laugh the hardest

Melissa Razook

How about a spirited Christine McConnell impersonation? :D

Chad Leeper

Maybe the most creative pet portrait 😊 🐈‍⬛

Jodie Frandsen

Ideas for the contest: one could be doing photography. Your own favorite spooky scene. Whether is be your own family photo, your favorite room in your house that’s on theme. Or other that portrays your skills in photography. Another could be doing your own creation. Using wood, clay or other types of materials to recreate owls, rats or something from the wall paper.

Melissa McCrummen

Love the room!! What about 1) people can share their cutest and creepiest childhood photos of themselves (something people may have on hand and wouldn't need to create:)) or 2) describing their perfect death (dark but could also be lovely) like laying down in the forest, looking at the sky, giving your body back to nature as little rabbits start munching away :)

Elaine Artem

Since there are people who have different talents, I think doing a variety would help. By that I mean, 5 different categories, and the best from each would be the winner. As an idea, the categories could be: 1) baking-- bake up a scary delight. It must be edible, and have the recipe included. 2) sewing: sew something amazing, from dinning room setting such as table runners, placemats napkins, etc, to a Victorian Gothic dress that we all want to be buried in. 3) hand crafts: this could include sculpting, wood building and creations of the like. Think tombstones, coffins, paintings, etc. 4) writing: I always thought maybe short stories, poetry, songs or music would be a great option. 5) the alternative category: anything that wasn't previously listed would go here including the idea for this contest. Just an idea though :) but I thought this would help divide everyone's talents so that they are equally competing against people who have similar talents, instead of a writer competing against someone who can hand craft a magnificent coffin. Good luck choosing!

Colleen

What about the most interesting death? Ideas of the way people would like to see out their end of days or be taken by surprise 👻💀 Loving the room! 🥰 xxx

Linda

Thinking of Halloween (because it’s never to soon) and how you decorate your own and Mom’s house. Everyone can submit photos from years past of the front of their house at Halloween time and you can pick your favorite.

Dawn Klemn-Thomson

Exactly! People could let their creativity loose and try many different things within the same theme!

Famke Hagedoorn

Another idea i had was to find something in your own house that fits with theme/colors of the wallpaper. For example, a knife that has a owl's head a the end; a drinking glass that has a gold accent or a lamp that has the same color pallette. I'm sure everyone has something that can suit the wallpaper and it'll be fun to look through your place and your stuff with a new lense.

Famke Hagedoorn

can we do an owl themed contest? It could be an owl poem in the Victorian style (an Ode to Owls), owl stationary, owl paintings, something baked with an owl theme, or anything! Owls, owls, OWLS!!!!! And perfect for the Fall and spooky season.

Kristin Wright

That room..... BRAVO! It is absolute perfectiotion. I have a life-long obsession with owls, so it is truly a dream to see it and how you created this amazing space.

Kristin Wright

As a way for everyone to get into the upcoming Holiday and show-off their spookiest/weirdest/prized possession they can submit a photo of their item and you can pick your favorite.

Dawn Klemn-Thomson

That is a great idea! I like that every talent can shine which is something that fits Christine's modus operandi!

Mother of Odin

A haunted artifact contest! Or maybe a haunted walk-through video?

Lydia Garofalo

My brain cannot process contest ideas right now, but I just need to say one more time....I love this room. What a fantastic space! I swoon.

Paige Phoa

Sketching a costume design! That way people don't have to actually make the outfits, if they can't (budget, disability, time, etc.). It's more accessible while still allowing people to do something fun and creative!

Laura

Yes!!! I said this too!!! Great minds.

Katherine Young

I like the idea of you choosing a theme and us expressing it however we feel, through any art medium, writing, film, photos, fashion, makeup, just whatever feels right to each of us, whatever comes to mind

Rayna Lily

Perhaps we can make something within the theme of the wallpaper (the animals, colors and predator & prey). So people could for example sculpt an owl; embroider a rat; design an invitation with the color pallete and animals or make an animation with predators and preys. That way different types of media could be used within the same theme.

Famke Hagedoorn

yes, i thought of that too. Or your own interpretation of Prey and Predators

Kim Schneider

How about a portrayal of (or story created about )the figures in the wall paper? People could write a narrative, or a poem, make figures, bake figures, sing songs, draw comics/portraits etc

Suzy

A contest where you create a familiar and incorporate it into something you've made a tutorial for. Like how you incorporated Pancake into your witch's hat.

Honeybee Bailey

Hi Christine, I was thinking of a photo contest of folks taking pictures of themselves in a cemetery, of course being respectful of the dead while doing this. The people who take the best pictures win.

Mononoke Adams

Since you're trying to be as inclusive to the group as possible, how about best patreon recreation of any content from any of your prior episodes? Not everyone has a camera, can sew, bake, or has room for larger projects.. but I'm sure all of us has recreated something by now. There can be a new hashtag to submit on Instagram?

Angela Pearson

🐀What if people could create something (any medium that want) inspired by the wall paper? They could even use that item in the room for possible decor! 🦉 That way the inspiration is the wall paper, and the creation is unique to the creator.

Katherine Young

I have two ideas: 1) A painting of Christine (maybe a room in the house oder something fitting for her in the background). 2) A Face-Makeup inspired by a project Christine did or halloween-themed. I really love the idea of addng new categorys, since I'm not an english nativspeaker, so writing something good is very difficult for me.

Aline

How about a theme! Everyone can take the theme and interperate it in their own form of artwork. E.i. writing, painting, filming, editing, sculpting etc.

Joe Schmitz

Contest Ideas: Photography | A Fashion Shoot | Baking | Styling (Interior Design or Fashion) | Make-Up | A Short (short!) Film | an epic sewing, crochet, or craft project | a Dance (Flashdance!) | Film a PRANK! | Reverse Parking | a "Surprise Me!" contest; entrants choice. lol

Mardi Shakti

Or have to craft or repurpose something to fit the wallpaper?

josh mullins

How about a diy pet costume contest! It's fun, gets the four legged babies involved, and nothing is more adorable than an animal in a costume!

Lia Michelle

Or we pick the best room accents/decor .....

josh mullins

hmmm... so writing as an option, and then perhaps... best use of gilding something? (that'd leave it open to a LOT of project options for folks to participate!!)

Amanda C

Best craft that utilizes cat (or dog) hair as one of the main components! I, too, have a furry boy who loudly demands to be brushed multiple times a day and need some ideas to use up all the fur I’ve been stockpiling :)

Amber Mathias

OK I was thinking maybe we have to design our own wallpaper design to enter?

josh mullins

Halloween/Fall Miniature Scene 🎃🍁🍂

Taylor Foster

Halloween centerpieces within a budget. To see how each person is creative and talented but also keeping into a budget. I see everyone’s comments on here and they are so gifted and talented, I can just tell.

Melissa

Or a witchy art subreddit contest!!! Your favorite alchemic, and witchy art on the your wall. Great way to support local artists.

Amber Pettet

I love the cosplay idea!

Christine Peterson

Role reversal! It would be great to see a piece of art that has the Prey turning on the Predator! Vengeful rodents against an unsuspecting Owl!

CharlieCat

Halloween themed dessert decorating contest Pet or nature photography

Christine Peterson

In true vintage Christine McConnell style: best photography re-creation of a scene from a spooky movie featuring yourself!

Cathleen Murray

Halloween mask or pumpkin carving contest. Never too early for Halloween preparations! 👻🎃💀🖤 Cant wait to watch ur episode!

Diane McCarty

A mix media competition ( drawings, woodwork, baking, sculpture) inspired by Stephen King's Creepshow! Specifically, the "It's Father's Day and I want my cake" segment, with one of the grandfather's grandchildren, Silvia's, severed head on his cake!! It's one of my absolute favs and so cheesy but so iconic for 80's horror! :D

Sophia W

Halloween themed, dark and cute custom cookie cutters. For example, an adorable, wide eyed black cat with bloody murderous paws. Kawaii scream mask. Adorable raven collecting shiny human bones.

Amber Pettet

Create a Design for Gothic inspired gift wrapping paper for spooky gift exchanges?

Arran MacFae

Omg thank you Christine. I needed this today!

Dawn Hargy-Louden

Best vintage style Halloween party invitation?

Bella Molina

So predator and prey are a doubleact. Like strawberries and cream - maybe that's a British thing? Could there be an opportunity to showcase their double act of what they'd put on a wall paper. Like kitten and ball of string? Could be a drawing, words or a photo?

Naomi Williams-Roberts

Maybe a design contest of embroidery pattern 🥰🦇 the one you like the most could featuring in one of your next project ! For me it would be an honor !!

Larger Louise

Why not a best before / after a spooky relooking ?

Emmanuelle BOREAU

Since it's a decor item may be a submission around items people have made for their own rooms. Floral display, pillow, window treatment or repurpose of an everyday item..

Jennifer Edwards

Maybe a photography or art contest?

Jennifer Premo

Best spoopy/vintage tablescape? Best DIY decoration? Best Christine cosplay?

Hannah Collins

Not me at work pretending to send emails while I watch this🤭 can’t wait to see what everyone’s submissions will be☺️

Noelle Nurmi
