An Oil Painting Tutorial - From the Mind of Christine McConnell

In this episode I create an oil painting titled "My Prince Awaits"...

An Oil Painting Tutorial - From the Mind of Christine McConnell

Comments

You are an amazing artist. This painting brings tears to my eyes. I love all the details. Great job!

Diane McCarty

Okay! Well I just answered my own question from the previous post…Of course you created this painting. I have tried oils, but I just don’t seem to be able to master them. I work in colored pencil, because I can layer colors much easier in them, for some reason. This is beautiful, it was a pleasure watching you create it.

EdG

My 21 year old cat died suddenly last week. I have been a member since you started, and when I first saw this I cried my eyes out. I am not ready to watch again, since she is gone, writing this is difficult enough. However, I find great comfort in your words. I too asked her to wait for me.

Cecelia Breslin

This is my favorite video of yours, I think because it is so personal and relatable. Also, the painting in itself is so beautiful and what it represents so meaningful. I've watched this video a few times and pause it to look at all the detail. <3

Jenny Gramith

Just joined your Patreon a couple weeks ago, just watching this video now. I have been oil painting for several years; Im not sure if anyone has mentioned in any previous comments but a GREAT way to save your oil paints for future painting is to wrap it in saran wrap - ive kept paint for the better part of two months (theres still a small "skin" on top of each paint that you peel off but for the most part it keeps just fine) and a GLASS cutting board is the absolute best palette for oils, the surface is smooth and wont rip (like foil) and its SUPER easy to clean. I dont know if anyone will read this comment, but if it helps even one person then YAY! lol happy crafting <3

Stefanie Correia

I'm glad it wasn't just me bawling after watching this. I recently lost my beautiful girl Nigella and I hope she is somewhere beautiful, sunning herself and waiting for me 💔

Belinda Kwoka

Beautiful and heartbreaking. I don't cry - sometimes think I'm broken that way- but this had me sobbing. And, even 3 months after first seeing this, I still can't watch the end without tears.

Tim Binns

The final reveal actually has me in tears... I had to stop just now to get a tissue. I don't believe in the afterlife, but if there is such a thing, all cats deserve to go to that wonderful place.

Smitten Kitten

I just joined this week and I am an avid animal lover. I am sitting here with two of my dogs on my bed with tears rolling down my face watching your video. I had 3 of my dogs pass last year and it was heart breaking. One was 17 the other two were brothers and 15. We also have moved and I think I have found MY PEOPLE! I love all of the content and the videos! I am a cake decorator on the side and I love everything vintage. I found you on Youtube and I am so glad you have this site. Sorry for the long message but just had to let you know what a gift you are to people like myself. Many blessings to your new adventures.

C C Burgess

Wow. I can't say that I've ever had an emotional reaction to seeing someone's painting before. It's so beautiful and this episode was like a therapy session for me - thank you. You really captured something that can't be put into words. My sweet dog-soulmate was just diagnosed with a terminal illness. He chose me, for whatever reason I don't know, but he's my shadow and minion and it's painfully obvious how impossible his absence will be. I find myself crying everytime you mention your beloved cat; but thank you for talking about him. It's wonderful how you honor him. ❤

Damn-it-Janet

I absolutely love this painting tour so amazing!!

Melissa

Knocking on wood as I type, but I've never lost a pet. Growing up, my family had a hard time caring for animals and every childhood pet was rehomed long before reaching old age. Now, I have five pets that I'd never ever give up and my eldest is nearly 12 years old. She is in excellent health and I look forward to several more years with her, but when she goes, I hope to pay her tribute like this. <3

Kathryn Foulk

This really had me crying by the last part. I lost my beautiful old lady last year, Monica, she was 19 and 1/2. If I had any real artistic skill at drawing or painting, I would have done something like this. I find great comfort in Christine’s words, they soothe a little of the hurt. I hope to be reunited with her one day too. Thank you Christine xx

Deborah

This is absolutely BEYOND stunning. WOW! You're incredible, Christine!

Sara Hinkle

I know....I sobbed!

Melissa Pinilla

I lost my Sisko Kitty 2years ago & still expect to wake with him at my side. What a beautiful painting & I wish I had the talent to do this. Thank you for sharing Mr Biggles with us

Lyndsey Zeller

Me too!

Lynae The Alchemist

Ahh, crap. That final line was a tearjerker. Great episode, Christine 💞🦇

Sterling Marie

Cried my eyes out at the end.

Pamela Wilcox

This was absolutely beautiful. My 18 year old kitty passed away yesterday and I'm heartbroken... When I watched this video today I found so much comfort with the image you have created. It has helped me visualize how we may meet again someday. Thank you.

Anwyn Alene

That was such a beautiful episode in so many ways! Thank You

Brenda Fairbanks

I could not agree more.

Christine McConnell

Here I am, in tears. Anyone who has lost a pet like you and I feel such a deep, resounding loss when it is their time to leave us. They leave holes in your heart, but fill it with so much love that all you can do is be ever thankful that they were part of your life.

Natasha

Amazon painting with a beautiful meaning behind it ❤️

Emma Cross

This is an absolutely beautiful painting. You couldn't have uploaded it at a better time for me because I had to say goodbye to my beloved yorkie Gizmo on Monday. We had a viewing yesterday before he was cremated. He was my dog version of your Mr. Biggles.. my once in a lifetime pet, my soulmate. I know they are waiting for us, I can't wait to see him again. I know you feel the same for your special kitty. Thanks so much for this episode Christine, it healed my broken heart a bit ♡

Heather Brown

This painting is beautiful, got me a bit verkelmpt as it reminded me of my little soulmate Tasha. Really looking forward to another craft-along!

Sarah

So touching and so beautiful Thank you, Christine

gwenski

I'm a slow painter, so oils have always been my go-to :D

Christine McConnell

That last scene made me cry. Such a beautiful painting and remembrance of Mr. Biggles

Piper Dohring

was there a reason besides your affinity to "old" school that you chose oil colors as opposed to acrylics?

Sonja Corterier

I love the painting.....as I do everything you do or make <3 You are so talented at so many things and I love your mindset of just going for things that you have not tried before. Thank you for sharing <3

Nina Rese

This give me ideas to do something for my car.

Hollie Blaik

Absolutely adore this painting. What an amazing talent you have for all forms of art

Rachel Mullens

I just loved this tutorial so much! Final words made me tear up, not gonna lie

Nastya Cherednyk

I cried too!

Beelzebuth

My goodness Christine, what a beautiful way to visualize your emotions. Just amazing. I have too lost that special one pet and know I will see him again. He'll be waiting :) Thank you ♥

Essepes

Losing a pet is always difficult. I often wonder why the universe didn’t have animals outlive us humans.

Chelle

She did! Check the last livestream.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

What an amazing gift to give the parents.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Go for it! I taught myself, and do these kinds of projects all the time, and also taught sculpture in high school. Just watch safety videos for all of the tools - very important!

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Fantastic we'll be there. So excited!

Mistress Pendragon

Oh my goodness! That is beautiful. I lost one of my very special kitties last year after he was sick for a few weeks. It was super, super hard and I knew that he wouldn't make it subconsciously even though the vet never told me he wouldn't. It broke my heart am (tearing up now). Watching you do this I can feel the love you have for Mr. Biggles and it brings me to tears. It is so heartbreaking to lose an animal. I swear if you did paintings to sell I would buy one in a heart beat! Oh and the extra touch of your other cat peering out is perfect! We have 2 black cats and I love that extra detail!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. 💙🐱

Emily Hurt

Hello! I'm still working on the template for the fan and should be posting the printable download as well as supplies very soon :)) Currently I'm planning the craft along for Sunday the 28th at 10:00 am PST :D

Christine McConnell

I loved it but it made me so sad too! Damn these amazing pets and there short time with us

Jessica Harmsworth

Do you have to be in tier 4 to join in the funeral fan? I am in tier 3? I don't see a date for the Craft a long. We really don't want to miss it. This will be our first one with you.

Mistress Pendragon

An excellent tutorial that shows all your talents. And I am so sorry for the loss of your special baby.

mrb

Oh my gosh, this was just so fantastic. Beautifully done, and such a poetic tribute to your furry child. I just couldn't love this more.

Jodie Treloar

I know the loss of a special kitty and you had me crying at the end of this! You are so talented! Love your stuff and have tried several.

Arlene Steimle

How long did it take you to paint the whole painting? I am a very slow, painstaking painter, and am always curious about how long other people spend.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Christine, I've just watched and one, I do believe there is nothing you can't do. Your talent is above and beyond anyone I've ever known. Everything you do is amazing and you're so humble and that makes me love you even more....and two, I basically cried through the entire episode. Thank you for sharing your very personal feelings with us...they are not unrecognized and brings us all so close to knowing you and knowing we'd be best friends.

Sherrie Potgieter

crying (so beautiful and beautifully said)

Sylvia Lopez Johnson

Wow what a beautiful tribute!!

Selene

Wow! That is such a beautiful painting.

Andrea Pate

Lovely. Reminds me of Leonora Carrington.

Sarah

Hi how do you register to make the funeral fan? Thank you

Jessie

My cat passed away suddenly on Monday. This episode hit so close to home I was sobbing at the end of it. I hope my little furry prince waits for me...

Michelle Schabowski

I lost the doggie love of my life a couple weeks ago and I found the inspiration behind your piece very moving. The finished result is beautiful and I hope it comes true for all pet lovers when they leave this world for the next.

Becca

Thank you, I just want to jump in and start a project when I watch her go at it in fluffy socks. 😬🤣

JANE EMBLEN

The tools I have seen on her videos are a GMC compound mitre saw for straight and angled cuts on boards, a Dremel rotary tool for carving, and a Dewalt jig saw for cutting boards in curved shapes. She also has a Craftsman stapler, and a Bostitch 18 gauge pneumatic stapler with an air compressor, a drill, and I think she also has a skill saw and a CNC machine.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

For those of us that can't paint or afford it, will you provide a scan we can print and use for our fan?

Saltywench

Yes! What brushes do you have that are that fine point and KEEP their fine point for more than one rinse! I love my tiny canvases, but I think I must be cheaping out since I have to replace those small brushes so often. If there's a better brand that holds up longer, it'd be worth it!

Izile

Ha! you had me nervous when I saw that picture of you painting in that pretty dress (with oil!!) I appreciate that "shot behind the camera" - I'm also notoriously messy when it comes to paint, so I have special "paint clothes" which started black and are now all sorts of shades. :-D

Izile

Hugs - it will be easier eventually.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Oh, I'm sorry that you lost your Meg.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Sorry about your Molly - it's such a hard thing to deal with.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

OMG yes! Ikea has a wooden lazy susan that she could mount to the back of the painting and then to the wall!

Aunt Debbie Halloween

They're loud, but worth it.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

You can also use acrylic as a base coat - it drys super fast, is pencil/eraser friendly, and you can paint over it with oils.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Sorry for your loss, sweetie.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Such a brilliant concept! I love how you were able to capture your emotions in this painting. I wish you were making prints! I would LOVE to showcase this is my home. But I understand the personal nature of it 🥰 Truly beautiful

Amanda Layman

Wow, what an absolutely stunning painting and concept. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up a couple times hearing you talk about your sweet prince. All the feels. ❤️

Michael McGinnis

I love this so much! I want a copy hanging in my house!!! It is absolutely stunning.

Katie Ahseln

Incredible!

Chloe Shooter

This is such a moving and beautiful piece!! Very much looking forward to the fan livestream when it happens 😍😍😍!!

Joanna Norton

Ps is that your new home in the pic? 💗

Lorraine Donaldson

Oh my goodness I found this episode so emotional! What an accurate description of love after loss. Absolutely stunning xx

Lorraine Donaldson

Re-watching this AM and must comment on the Power of the Poof Gaze.

Racheal Jones

This Is really how Heaven should be! 💖😻

Laura Amoroso

Just floored by the sheer talent and time that goes into making a piece of art like this and also, how much I am now crying. I held it together until the last minute and then Christine broke me 😭

Kimberley Howes

So beautiful Christine, thank you. xxxx

Hayley Mitchell

that is literally so beautiful, I wish to be as talented as you

Katrina

Hubs waited for me to be done with work to watch this and we just finished. I was totally forewarned by everyone's responses this morn, but here I am, puffy-eyed and sniffling, shaking my fist at the ceiling and grumbling "Dammit Christine!". Omg, the feels, so hard. That was beautiful and my heart just breaks! 🖤 *GAH!*

Cindy Kessler

Incredible as always. A sweet prince indeed.

Lisa W

Masterpiece.

Grizzles' Humom

I was bawling my eyes out the entire episode. Just beautiful 💕💕💕

Alison Cedeño

Absolutely beautiful!! Cant wait to make the funeral fan!!

Brenda Hunt

Oh my goodness! Such a beautiful painting! I may have teared up... <3 I wish I could create something so lovely

Sophie Clark

This was so beautiful on so many levels. You're creativity never ceases to amaze me and inspire me. xx

Tania Hankin

I am completely blown away by the magnificent detail and beauty of this painting. So much fine detailing in each tiny area. I hope you consider painting and selling more artwork down the road, because these would be stunning prints to own

Ryan McFadden

Thank You for this Birthday Present on my birthday :))

Sophia Z

I just tried to tell my workmate about the video and was tearing up, particularly when I told her about your monologue at the end of the video 😭❤️

Louise Hartley

What oil paint are you using? I love the color in the final outcome!

Portobello Road Toad

The last minute made me cry, my cat is only a year old and suffering from heart failure, the fact that she looks so much like Mr. Biggles made it hit even closer to home. This video has inspired me to take up painting again. It is absolutely gorgeous, the detail is astounding. Once again I am blown away by Christines talent.

Tara Giroux

what an absolutely beautiful painting, video, and sentiment.

Fawn Hutchinson

I also lost my very beloved shar pei in February. He was my soul mate and I miss him terribly. I love this painting and the symbolism. It made me tear up. It’s so beautiful!

Amanda Boldreghini

Simply masterful, and what a beautiful homage to the love and bond you share with your feline soulmate. I’m always appreciative of your talents and optimism, especially during these dark days.

Dan De Young

This is such a beautiful and touching painting. I was tearing up at some moments but at the end I properly cried. My dog passed away- it will be a month on the 19th. The love of a pet is with a person forever and so is the pain of losing them. This was a very bittersweet episode for me.

Kait

I just lost my soul dog, Honey, this past Friday. It has been crushing beyond measure. I watch and re-watch all your videos all the time (the best for self-care!), but this one hit me straight in the heart in the best way. Your closing words give me the same hope that I will see my Honey Bee again. <3

Kayley V.

That was a beautiful video! It's amazing to see your process, and to see the transitions from the drawing draft to the "final" product.

DC

One of my cats was at my elbow when I watched the video. Your love for Mr. Biggles and your closing remarks made me cry, too. (((Hugs)))

Terry L. Steffen

I’m crying! This is so beautiful 🖤

Kayleigh

I’m crying, I understand both that bond and that loss. I think the funeral fan is such an amazing idea to honor it. I’m not sure I’ll do a whole oil painting, but I have some lovely photos of my kitty that passed in december, I may photoshop one of her in the clouds for the craft along❤️❤️❤️

Brieann Chapple

Christine, what and inspiration you are. I love everything you do, but this one just got me in tears. Your vision of heaven is one of perfection indeed. Thank you for sharing it with us, I’m really looking forward the next craft along.

Isabelle Rivard

Wow Christine this is so touching. I honestly cried watching this episode it really hit my heart. I am so thankful for the content you put out, you really go above and beyond for your fans.

Kassandra Love

I'm a blubbering mess after watching this. This painting is also incredible.

Magdalena

Christine, I’m wondering if you would consider doing prints of this painting?

Lauren Smith

Christine! This is so beautiful!!

Jennifer Faria

Christine I loved everything you shared about your furry baby. This was so beautiful and it just touched my ❤. Cried and made me miss my Yoshi! Xoxo!!!

Claudia Garcia

What a beautiful way to pay tribute to your lost friend. When I lost my favorite cat, I had her cremated and I keep her ashes in a pretty box on my bookshelf. My family and friends thought I was a little nuts, but it feels right to still have her with us in some way.

Jillian Jewett

I'm not crying you are

Katie Coseo

I literally couldnt stop crying watching this, reminded me of my little meg my childhood dog who I last year and I’ve been heartbroken ever since. Beautiful painting ✨

Nikki-lea

Hi Christine! Your painting is truly beautiful, especially the story behind it. I'm sorry about the loss of your dear cat Mr. Biggles. I just recently lost my dog, her name was Molly and she's been with me for 14 years. Your closing words about your fur baby patiently waiting to be reunited with you was a very beautiful thing to hear, thank you and I hope you're doing well!

Stacey Evangelista

Christine can you pretty please post photos of your painting?!

Kitty Lang

You are such an inspiration Christine, my heart was broken and put back together in this video, thank you xx

Meagan Sharman

Yes! I was thinking that a router would have made that job much easier.

Mina Murray

This is truly inspiring and beautiful. Your talent is beyond measure!!

Kitty Lang

Truly beautiful. I couldn’t hold back the tears. I’m missing my fur babies too. I have recently lost a dear friend and I am missing her terribly. You have magnificently illustrated our Cosmic relationships with our beloved furry family members.

BeesandRavens

I am so in awe! That painting was just exquisite 💕 You are so incredibly talented. It’s such a joy to watch you! So glad to be a patreon ❤️🎁

Brenda L.

I’m ready to cry after that wonderful finale. He’s absolutely happy and awaiting you!

Random Onlooker

That painting literally took my breath away! Please make prints!!!

Luke Huelskamp

Christine, this episode so touching, I've been crying for the last half hour. Sad tears because it makes me miss my little kitty who I lost 18 years ago, and my dad who I lost just over a year ago, and because I know death will soon come to take my other kitty away from me. But also happy tears because I know one day I'll get to be with them again, perhaps even for much longer than I had with them in this life

Ira

Bob Ross who? Lol, it's very amazing 🖤

Summer Rose Barnes

Someone that’s as crazy attached to their animals as much as I am 💕💕💕

Sara Estridge

You're videos are so beautiful! Watching your vision come to life was something to be treasured, something magical. I was left immensely inspired. Thank you for sharing his memory ♡

Julie Holtz

This was beautiful, thank you 🖤

Louise Hartley

Loved it 🖤

Jasmine Martinez

Soo beautiful episode and painting 💜💖💜 My tears were pouring down my face several times during the episode. Thought about my own, passed as well as living, beautiful furry soulmates. I was also very inspired by your beautiful locket with the picture of your beautiful and missed kitty. Thank you! 💜💖💜

Linda Skymningsmåne

Stunning and emotional episode 🖤 Can't wait for the craft along.

Rebekah Cadman

Absolutely gorgeous painting! I am very interested in the craft along! Your ending monologue about Mr. Biggles waiting for you and being excited, literally brought tears to my eyes.

A.M. McPherson

This is so beautiful. I just burst into tears because I just lost my precious Tiger Lily to kidney failure on May 31st. One day before her 14th birthday. She looks SO MUCH like Mr. Biggles. You should find a way to mount this on a rotating arm so it slowing spins so you can see both sides from both angles. I love this painting so much.

Yvette Gray

I loved this episode, it touched my heart....thank you! Yes, I would like to sign up for the craft along but not sure where I would add my name. Again, thank you for sharing the memory of Mr. Biggles! I know he awaits your arrival......many, many years from now!

Pamela Kay

O wow, this painting is amazing. So beautiful

Erin Rabideau

Wow I’m crying. My tabby Kulprit (who also has a special soul and always has a paw in whatever I’m working on) is curled up next to me wondering what’s going on. Thank you for sharing with us. When you talk about Biggles it reminds me to appreciate every moment with my little Kulprit. 🖤🖤🖤

Genevieve Fernety

My dog, Baloo, will be 15 in November. His recently sugar frosted face kills me a little everyday. The last moments of the were almost too much. 🖤

Aubrey Montgomery

This was so gorgeous. I have been holding off on creating memorial art for my sweet old lady cat, Puff, who we had to let go of two years ago. But this video makes me think it’s time. Thank you for sharing this with us, Christine.

Amanda

OK so I wept, and oh my goodness how beautiful was that painting!

Dawn Hargy-Louden

Christine, this has been one of my favorite episodes so far. It made me cry in its tenderness and love for a beloved feline family member that’s passed on, it made me laugh in your self-deprecating humor and behind-the-scenes realness (“most comfortable when I look like a gargoyle”) and watching the painting process unfold was a perfect blend of smart techniques and otherworldly magic. Stay safe and happy moving — can’t wait for episodes in your new home!

Mary Horning

Absolutely beautiful, brought a tear to my eye at the end. Amazing. 🖤

Victoria Gates

this was so moving -- a beautiful tribute to Mr. Biggles

Mary Horning

Beautiful painting ❤️ You said your surroundings may be changing soon, so does that mean you’ve found a house? ☀️

Gabriel Vaughan

This is amazing! Something I’ve found helpful is to draw on my canvases with a colored pencil so it doesn’t smear. Thanks for sharing! You’re incredible!

Lauren

I had teas in my eyes at your closing words. Is there anything you can't do? Only your 10th oil painting and it's incredible! Thank you for all the amazing work that you do, you are truly inspirational

Alison

Wow, that is so awesome!!! When you said you were doing a cat painting, this is beyond what I was envisioning. Incredible, you are an amazing artist!!!!

Suzanne Robinson

I cried several times while watching this, especiallyin the end... im gna go kiss my dog a 100000 times

Анна Ви

Just a beautiful concept, I lost my kitty two years ago. She looks just like yours in this painting. Also having pets all my life, each one has always left a mark on my heart. ❤️

Rebecca Valentine

What an absolutely stunning tribute to your little prince. This truly struck me ♥️ thank you for sharing this process with us, and may it grant you a bit of peace in your heart knowing that such a lovely welcome awaits when the time comes.

Katy K

Also - you need to get a router! You will love it. I have one and use it a lot. You can make things like decorative edges and tongue and grooves so quickly, and it will save your Dremel bits for the fun carving stuff.

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Beautiful surreal painting (and I'm an Art teacher so I know!) I LOVED the flip to the reality of how you actually look! It's fun to watch you be all glamorous, but more relatable to see how you would really look - and we got to have both in one video! The sweet, sad, hopeful story of Mr. Biggles was a beautiful ending. I think most animal people have that one love...

Aunt Debbie Halloween

Annnnd I’m crying

Lisa Marie

I’m not crying! you’re crying!

Cecelia Breslin

This is such a nice piece. I saw another artist using chalk to sketch on her already painted surfaces. I think she might be working with acrylic but it's something to try for your next piece.

Eve Hong

Your talent is so amazing That I’m at a lost for words....thank you for sharing this painting and especially during this busy time of moving across the country!💕

Tammy Robinson

Also, I had already done my makeup and I'm so mad at you for messing it up!

Emme Mayle

Christine it is SO lovely! I'd love to see a print of this for sale, possibly? Again, he looks so very very much like my kitty.

Emme Mayle

The painting is inspirational! Amazing job! <3 <3 <3

Melanie Dunn

I truly loved every moment of this. Thank you for being so candid and sharing this beautiful painting with us!

Kaitlyn Von Hausen

Beautiful on so many levels, the painting, the story, the image and the painter!

Trude Gentenaar

It’s so beautiful ❤️ made me cry thinking about my Princess. 🦊 when she passed away the vet gave me handouts with things about rainbow bridge. But in my mind, where she left was even more grand.

Abbey Casian

Oh beautiful painting, sweet cat, such a beautiful image that your fur baby is waiting for you. That bit you said at the end made me cry, the thougt all my babies are waiting for me 💕 Also that bit you said at the end about surroundings, that is very very exciting!! You are an inspiration as always xxx

Amy Watler-Thomas

This is so lovely. Thank you for all you create and for sharing this with us. My old pup Veronika passed away this week after 16 years of being each others’ mood rings & shadows. Everything has felt quite slow-motion this week and it hadn’t yet occurred to me that I can hopefully see her again— so your video has brought a lot of comfort in that regard, thank you. Our pets’ memories are clearly great extensions of their spirit, and I can absolutely feel how lovely Mr. Biggles’ spirit is from this painting and video. <3

Carley Arnold

Christine,the painting is so beautiful

Christina Zavala

I love that the angel kitty has bat wings! ...I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!

MsFenriss

Just beautiful! You're words and the painting had me crying while I wait my turn at my doctor's office. Thank you Christine

Nellie Garcia

wonderful painting and thank you for sharing!

Robin D.

Absolutely beautiful work Christine, and such an ethereal and touching tribute to Mr. Biggles. Thank you for sharing your process and talents with us. It really is a gift!

Vicki Liu

Thank you for being you and sharing yourself with us. Such a lovely tribute to Mr. Biggles and your love for him. I am so touched and moved by your talent and spirit.

Cynthia Bell

Wow, that was beautiful. Thank you.

Chris Cornett

You're so talented Christine-- thank you so much for sharing this!!!

Fiona McMahon

I should not have watched this video at work. Makup is now ruined.

Véronique Beaulieu

first time i've ever cried during a painting tutorial. Totally worth it. Beautiful story, process, and finished painting. :)

Eric Mutzabaugh

Christine, this is so beautiful and deeply moving, It brought tears to my eyes as well. I love everything you do, you can see your heart and soul go into every little detail. Your videos make me so happy. Thank you dear lady. ❤️

Annette

Tears filled my eyes at the end as I listened to your story♥️ the painting is absolutely gorgeous, I cannot believe how talented you are! It makes me want to pick up a paint brush and start practicing!

Shelby Snow

That was a stunning piece of art. It has inspired me to do a painting of by French Bulldog Tyson . I was a surrogate mother for a couple. I delivered twins (their embryos) at 7 and 6 pounds. So instead of bringing home babies I brought home this beautiful baby French. So I truly understand that heartbreak.

Desiree Coon

This came out so beautifully. Definitely wiping some tears after this video! 🖤

Dana Vogel

Can't stop crying and hugging my fur baby. I wish I had the skills to paint such a beautiful painting.

Nelia Torres

I watched this with Albert A. Cat by my side and we both got a little emotional at the end. I LOVE your mismatched socks -- I have a large collection of cat socks. : ) And I usually look like a train wreck when I'm crafting too.

Mina Murray

I cried through this whole video. Honest to god Christine, is there anything you can't do?

Nancy Jones

Wow! This episode truly left me speechless! Your talent is fucking insane!! Pardon my French, but!!!! I love how sentimental this painting is and your explanation at the end just drove me over the edge emotionally. I think about this all the time regarding meeting with my father and grandparents (and eventually my mom when she passes) in the eternal life. Brings tears to my eyes. Just....wow. Thank you so much for this one! Truly kicked me in the chest! 💗

Kristin Ott

This is so beautiful!

Jeunelle Robinson

You are disgustingly talented... I mean WTF, how can one person contain so much creativity lol. Truly an inspiration and I was just thinking that I hope you continue to do these videos until the day you die because it will literally take that long to cover all your cool ideas! I would happily Patreon you for the rest of my life... On another note, I was just watching your last livestream and yes, PLEASE do the moving trip filming/documentary (although I think that is an obvious choice) <3

Codie K Conklin

This was exceptional. My favorite creation of yours to date because of just how much it truly means to you. I shed a few tears over this because I can relate. Most of us have many pets in our lifetime which we all love but there are only a small handful that really feel they understand us and we understand them. An unimaginable connection that you wouldn't know unless you have experienced it yourself. Thank you for sharing this Christine.

Janaya

I cried like a baby. I'm actually still crying while writing this comment. Your painting skills are amazing, it looks incredible. I just wonder, aren't you feeling sad every time you look at this painting? I would probably burst into unconquerable sobbing every single time.

Aneta Rygulska

I love it sooooo much!💓💟

Mariko

Legit crying gosh damnit. That was so beautiful 🖤🖤🖤

Sarah Kane

Made me cry too, thanks dear... I miss my Nova, Another great video. Does anyone know if there is a list for favorite power tools and equipment?

JANE EMBLEN

Are you kidding me?? I’m literally sobbing it’s beautiful and the last little thing you said about your cat ohhhh

Megan

Such a beautiful painting. I cried so hard during this episode. Made me miss my Cat and my Dad. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Nicole Mason-Martin

The painting was absolutely stunning! The bit at the end made me tear up, thinking of beloved furry friends who have brought me joy that I hope to see again one day.

My boyfriend is now wondering why I woke him up crying about a cat named Mr. Biggles. What a great video!

Paul Fliedner

I only wish I could express how beautiful and cathartic this video was, and how grateful I am for it. Thank you Christine.

I think you did an amazing job! Very moving. I’m a realist oil painter too and I did have a bit of a giggle at you painting outside with that beautiful outfit on. As I’m currently painting in my pjs. If you want to varnish it once it has dried you can use a retouch varnish which is thinner than a normal varnish and is removable in the future. That saves you having to wait the 6 months to a year.

Oh Christina, I am crying! Your final words were so beautiful. Your painting is both heartbreaking and hopeful. I feel a strong connection to this as I have a cat who I have a similar connection with. I just can’t bear the thought of losing her - my heart goes out to you. What a beautiful sentiment to your beloved Biggles. ❤️

I am in love with the painting, the process, and the behind the scenes! My sobbing was interrupted by laughter at how relatable your gargoyle style is.

Currently still watching! Would you be able to create a list of all the different saws you own and use for your various wood work projects? I’m a complete newby and have no idea of the names of the saws etc.... Update: just finished watching, the painting is spectacular!!

Ruby

Christine- do you have a recommendation on brand of paints? Or types of brushes?

Courtney - Crow Fire

Oh it came out so lovely, you did your late kitty proud. I can’t wait for the craft-along! Still can’t paint my late pup I’m still too raw.
