That's what I've been thinking (and almost thought I was alone since every decent person on my feed believes this) every time people in let's say "progressive" / mental health spaces say stuff like "remember your feelings are always valid, it's how you act on them that matters". That's not true. You can have racist feelings because of medias and your surroundings always targeting a minority. You can feel disgusted by a gay man simply existing. (I won't mention the worst) Hell, intrusive thoughts are a thing. And as the comment before me mentions, heavy mental conditions can severely affect how you perceive people or situations and paint them as bad guys even tho they did nothing wrong. It's not just how you act upon them. Those feelings (especially the bigoted ones) are wrong, straight up. It's okay to work on them too, not just your behaviour, and accept that they're not supposed happen. And idk who that helps saying they're always valid no matter what, but not the ones having them nor the people they're about. To me that narrative is dangerous. Your feelings are valid when they are. So thank you for being the only one in literal years I've seen stating it, again I think this would be PSA if made public.
