072. "the pain feels too big for my body"
Added 2022-12-30 21:57:23 +0000 UTCHere is our December podcast my friends!! And, subsequently, our last podcast of 2022!! AAHHHH
I cannot believe the end of the year is already upon us. This happens every year, but I never cease to be just gobsmacked at how time continues to pass quicker and quicker D:
In this episode, I talk a bit about post break-up healing, my hopes for 2023, and some fiber nonsense cause I can't help myself heh. Here's a list of some of the things I mentioned:
- this blog post to help you plan your temperature blanket (check out the FAQ's link at the bottom of the post to get specific instructions on building your temperature gauge)
- the sophie scarf from petiteknits (her cardigans are so beautiful, but they also seem very difficult;; anyone who has made any of her stuff, pls advise!!)
- my temperature blanket colors, and their corresponding temp range (I'm going by daily high's!):

- I'll be using Swish Worsted from KnitPicks in the colors Voyage Heather, Wonderland Heather, Serene, Karma Heather, Blossom Heather, Rose Heather, Honey, Green Tea Heather, Haystack Heather, Clementine, and Serrano, with Nutmeg Heather as my "month marker" color to mark the first day of each month. Can you tell I like heathers :3
- I'll also be making a solid granny square blanket, with 18 rows of 20 squares, with 5 rounds for the border to cover the last 5 days of the year. (I haven't decided if the squares will be 3 or 4 rounds yet) I'll be using this join-as-you-go method so I can avoid sewing them all together by hand at the end of the year lolol
Sending so much love your way for the last days of this year. May 2023 bring you all the good and wonderful things!!!!
Love,
Chey

*trying to quickly catch up on the past few podcasts i've missed* but 100% understand ur feelings about not feeling ur age. I'm only 27 but my family is on me constantly about having a baby, but I still feel like I just graduated high school! Age is such a weird thing and I honestly feel like I'll never fully feel my age. Maybe it means we just have youthful souls!

2023-05-03 05:51:55 +0000 UTCI had a breakup from a 7 year relationship in 2020. I knew the relationship was over in 2018, but tried. Though, it was a bit of a codependent relationship and he became emotionally abusive. But anyway, I spent all of 2020 hurting so badly, not being able to do anything but cry and then we broke up in october 2020. It was hard and I really feel for what you are going through. <3 On a lighter note, I'm 3/4 of the way through a 2021 temperature blanket that I'm meh about - it was to celebrate my first year out of a bad relationship and living in a new city. I also did a June 2021 - June 2022 temperature blanket along with a friend who was also doing one. I'm about 3/4 of the way through it and went with an earthy color palette and am using the linen stitch for both! I can't wait to finish them which is a goal for the first half of this year.

2023-01-02 19:14:10 +0000 UTCahhh okay!!! cause i wanna try my hand at some of her patterns that are marked as more challenging (like 4 or 5 star difficulty) but her rating system got me a bit scared. i'm gonna finish the Ursa sweater I'm working on (from Jacqueline Cieslak) that I started back in September before I venture into any of petite knit's stuff. I really wanna make that beautiful striped Marseille sweater!!!

2023-01-02 19:13:43 +0000 UTCif you’re a little nervous about reading knitting patterns from petiteknit i cannot recommend checking out Handmade by Florence’s step by step sweater enough - it’s a free pattern for a top down raglan sweater (super customizable too) that she has a 1 hr 40min full walkthrough of on her youtube channel that walks you visually through every step and technique - i made it as my first sweater project and a) i am obsessed with the sweater and b) it was so nice to have the video & written instructions to help picture what each written step means, made me so much more confident to work from other written patterns!! 💫💕

2023-01-01 00:49:57 +0000 UTCI am like an embarrassingly huuuge fan of petite knit patterns ahaha I’ve made a few of the Sophie scarves actually! And I finished her Ingrid sweater recently and im just about to finish the Monday sweater. I find them really approachable which is partially why I kinda stick to her patterns. I find there are different styles of writing patterns and she keeps it to the point which makes it easier to not feel overwhelmed. I feel some designers can almost over explain and it gets over stimulating for me. Also on her website, every single pattern has tons of videos breaking down the techniques she used and the subtitles work great! She’s a really talented designer with so many classic designs that are easy to play around with and have fun. She also has a series of “novice/beginner” patterns that are amazing. Anyways definitely recommend them hahah I’m moving to Seattle in February so I’ve been trying to get a few sweaters of hers done to cozy up in for the colder weather 💕

2022-12-31 16:49:51 +0000 UTC(I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but) my sister knit one of Petite Knits' beginner cardigans as one of her first garments and I think she found it ok. I have knit her Stockholm Slipover before and overall it was fine, except it took me a bit of time to understand a section with picking up stitches; there was a video but it was in Danish. I did manage to do it in the end! I could have also substituted it with a simpler method too without that much difference. :-) good luck! (I'm looking forward to listening soon ✨)
