Malevolent Planet 2D - Latest Developments with the Inventory System
Added 2022-11-21 12:44:22 +0000 UTCHey! I've recently released the proper build for the nurse update to all patrons and game-breaking bugs didn't occur, at least I haven't been notified of any :D
Therefore, I've been working on an inventory system to couple it together with the upcoming shower update. I'll detail my latest achievements immediately, and in the latter list the plan for the shower update with everything that I want to include.
Latest Achievements:
- Developed a mechanic that checks if your character is wearing a piece of equipment.
- Created a nudity zone mechanic that lets your character undress fully, at least until exhibitionism stats and others will be fully added.
- Developed a mechanic that allows me to equip an item to your character, as long as that item is in the inventory.
- Fixed a couple of bugs started by integrating the inventory system and the beginning of the game, day0, should be relatively functional although it needs more fixes for quality of life.
My plans for the shower update:
- Fix the remaining integration bugs caused by the Inventory System. This means that all the content, including the nurse content and the garden one should flow smoothly.
- Animate an almost fully drawn scene for the shower scene for Day1.
- Add more interesting features to the inventory system, such as the ability of seeing the 3D character portrait that shows in dialogues in realtime as you equip and unequip clothes, not just in the dialogues.
Progress has been a bit slower than I'd have hoped, there are a ton of things I need to do to make the game more modular. Before, I used to artificially change the clothes on your character depending on the scene. Now, I need to use the inventory system's capabilities.
However, I'll keep something in mind and why I started the testing builds in the first place. The priority will be to have the new content out as soon as possible in the build, and then the remaining 2 weeks would be spent on fixing all the bugs I can.
Sadly, some bugs take longer than others to solve, since I need to work on new code to make things work the way they used to. Regardless of that, I'm keeping at it and I'll try to get this update out as soon as I can.
