Malevolent Planet v0.2.2 $5+ General Fixes Release & Announcement
Added 2022-01-17 07:56:49 +0000 UTCHi guys! Although I could've updated the latest post for the $5+ release for v0.2.2, I thought it would be better to let you know here. Basically, this release doesn't bring anything new for now outside of general fixes for the game. I'm planning on trying something new in the Malevolent Planet Universe that you may or may not like.
To get back into our monthly release schedule and not let things drag on, I'm releasing this general fixes update two weeks early ahead of the public release that will happen at the beginning of the next month. The constant exposure can bring in new players and more support for the game.
About what I've mentioned above, I'm planning on making a playable version of Malevolent Planet in the Unity engine. The end result would look similar to a few other top-down RPGM-like games (such as Third Crisis). The plot would follow the same one from the main game, as in the HTML SugarCube version that you can play right now, just that it would do so in a format that's more focused on art and interaction with the surrounding elements.
There'll be a Patron-Only Poll when the Unity demo is ready. There, I will post an itch link that will contain the playable version which will follow your character's introduction to the ISA (International Space Academy) where she gets to interact with her crew for the first time. There'll be a lot more art and possibly more content (NSFW included, to make it worth your while) as your character gets to explore the academy and find out more about her future mission.
Based on the feedback, I'll decide if it's worth going forward with this idea. Our main game wouldn't be neglected in any way, in fact I am working towards integrating the Unity version of the game inside our SugarCube one, meaning that if it works out well you'll be able to play the game as you normally would and when you reach locations more fitting the RPGM-like format you'll get to play them right there without launching another version of the game.
I've made a quick attempt at this idea and it's doable, just that it'll require some time. You can see it in the video from below (don't pay any attention to the characters or the background, I followed a tutorial to learn :D)

Looks interesting, but working on two separate games sounds hard
