Combat Improvements - Step Two - Enemy Weaknesses UX

Hey! I don't know if any of you played Persona 5, but I'm sure many have played RPG Maker games. Here's a dilemma I've faced and I need your help.

Many people have reported an issue and here's my summary:

We have two options:

1. A Sense Action. You could Sense an enemy, returning values such as the following:

For an enemy with low energy, but high hp, Sense could return:

-> High MaxHP: 'The enemy looks highly resistant to damage.'                 |

-> Med MaxHP: 'The enemy doesn't look weak, but not particularly strong neither.'       | -- +

-> Low MaxHP: 'The enemy looks fragile to physical attacks.'        |

-> High MaxEN: 'The enemy doesn't appear to spend a visible amount of effort during its movements.' |

-> Med MaxEN: 'The enemy's movements gradually wear down its energy levels.'    |  -- +

-> Low MaxEN: 'The enemy's movements take a visible toll on its energy levels.'
...
2. No Sense Action, Learn by Attacking the enemy instead. You'd attack the enemy, and depending on your attack type (melee, ranged) together with the type of your weapon (laser weapon for example for melee), you could reveal a weakness in the enemy. This weakness would be reflected as an icon underneath the enemy's avatar for all future encounters with this enemy.

Example: You pick a Melee Attack action. You have the ability to pick a Light Saber or a blunt weapon. You pick the Light Saber and attack the Malevolent Plant with it. The Malevolent Plant is weak to melee laser weapons, applying a damage modifier that increases the damage taken by the plant.

It'd be reflected in text as:

You decided to use your Light Saber against the Malevolent Plant. (insert hardcoded weakness text here) You used the Light Saber against the vines of the plant, effectively lasering them off in the process. The plant retracts its vines as if responding to a pain instinct. (if it's first time they used the attack) "Hmm… It looks like the $enemy is vulnerable to melee laser attacks."

Feel free to vote for the option you'd rather see in the game!
