On Vacation For a Few Days & Notice About Helping
Added 2021-08-16 05:21:11 +0000 UTC(Check bottom for tl;dr)
Hey everyone, hope you're doing well! I just wanted to stop by and let you guys know that I will be on my first vacation since I started modding (and had my son) in two and a half years starting Tuesday, probably ending Saturday. I will be unavailable for questions and will be limiting social media where possible so I can get as much relaxation as possible, and spend time with my fiancé as it's our anniversary. Once I'm back I'll respond to questions and comments as swiftly as possible.
The next thing I want to discuss is my current schedule and way I do things. Right now, and I feel bad for saying this, I spend way too much time helping people. I just spent all week (and I do mean all week, all day) helping people with their mods, helping some of them through each step. I had maybe an hour total this week to work on my own stuff and it was a private commission (because it's an update of a broken mod, need to contact creator), not even one of my big projects. As much as I enjoy helping people I simply can't keep doing this 24/7 support thing I have going on. It becomes exhausting and I have my own projects to finish, some that have been put off for months or longer because I spend so much time helping others with their stuff.
(The rest of this is mostly addressed to creators and not players.)
So starting at the end of my vacation I will have set days to answer modding questions. I haven't decided when yet or how frequently, but once I do those will be the only days I answer questions, unless it's an immediate and easy answer, or I don't feel like focusing on my own stuff/need a break. The other days I will be limiting social media after I check it in the morning and focus entirely on my work for the rest of the day, checking only on breaks, this way I'm not tempted to jump in and help with something. If you post somewhere (whether it be Creator Musings, S4S, MTS, etc.) and no one answers you by those set days, and it's a question I can answer, I will try to respond to you when it's time. I already started this somewhat with the forums a few months back and it's helped, but now I need to take it a step further and limit all forms of helping.
To help with me stepping away, I want to work on some of the tutorials I had planned that should answer the basic questions and then some, like "how do I get started" or "how do I update mods", etc. I won't be working on these immediately since I'm already far behind in my schedule, but once I feel caught up I will start writing when I can.
I apologize to everyone who feels disappointed about this, or may feel like they contributed to this problem. It's no one's fault but my own for not limiting myself to begin with when answering questions, and it's simply time for me to focus on my projects fully. I have so many ideas to share with everyone, current projects to finish, and one big (secret) project that's going to excite a lot of people if I can finish it. So I hope you guys can understand and will be patient when waiting for a response to your modding questions. Of course, if you figure it out before then please make sure to edit your post to say the solution so others can learn from it.
Thank you for reading and understanding, and have a great week!
tl;dr
- I'm going on vacation from Tuesday to Saturday.
- I will no longer be answering creating questions 24/7 and will limit it to certain days (except for certain situations). It takes too much of my time.
- I will be writing more tutorials later to help.
