Chapter 511: Breaking Through! The Ninety-Ninth Labyrinth
Added 2025-06-18 15:01:08 +0000 UTCNearly a thousand ghost ships declared their allegiance!
The sheer awe of this scene was deeply etched into the memories of everyone present.
Decades later, when recounting this event, they would still be captivated, expressing their wholehearted admiration for Charlot Mecklenburg.
After completing his display of power, Charlot immediately issued an order to Yishemierlen to deploy 30,000 ghost sailors ashore for battle.
Countless ghost sailors leaped from the ships, crossing the seas and scaling the shores.
Even though the residents of Lazaro Cardenas Port knew these beings had submitted to Charlot, the sight still sent shivers down their spines.
Charlot understood that keeping the ghost sailors in the port city would instill fear among the civilians. Thus, he directed them to march straight through Lazaro Cardenas Port and merge with the regular forces of the West Wind Knight Order. This newly assembled massive army then set off toward the advancing forces of the City-State Military Alliance.
Before long, Charlot’s army clashed with the City-State Military Alliance’s forces.
When both armies faced off on the battlefield, the Alliance’s generals fell silent at the sight of the ghost sailors covering the landscape.
When Yishemierlen floated into the sky, the three city lords of the Alliance turned pale as ash.
Herge, the Lord of Tlalcuapak, muttered, “Do we have any option besides summoning the Evil God?”
After a moment of hesitation, the other two city lords answered in unison, “Surrender!”
Herge let out a long sigh and said, “Draft the surrender document. We’ll all sign it.”
“I’ll personally deliver it to Sir Charlot Mecklenburg.”
The other two city lords glanced around. Their soldiers were as pale as ghosts, devoid of any fighting spirit. No one doubted Charlot’s capacity for slaughter—controlling an army of ghosts and wielding the power of a Saint Rank was terrifying enough. Adding the symbolic weight of the bilingual banner Charlot had raised earlier only crushed their hopes further.
Previously, they might have harbored doubts about whether Charlot would spare them after a victory. Now, none dared question it. A man who commanded a ghostly armada could surely commit any act of brutality.
The surrender document was quickly drafted, signed by all three city lords. Herge personally delivered it to Charlot with utmost respect.
Charlot had no intention of waging unnecessary war, especially as there was no hatred between the two sides. After reviewing the document, he smiled faintly and said, “If you are willing to surrender, I have no desire to wage war.”
Herge was elated by Charlot’s apparent magnanimity, consistent with his reputation for leniency toward the defeated. After expressing his gratitude and flattering Charlot, Hergé prepared to leave.
However, Charlot was eager to return to the Aggras Sea to continue the labyrinth trials. His campaign against Blackgolon had been necessitated by the collapse of Mosuli’s population, which left it vulnerable to even a minor assault by the forces of a city-state. Such an event would have jeopardized his challenge along the Path of Agmirlas.
Thus, Charlot showed little concern for the surrendered city lords’ sentiments. He ordered Yishemierlen to lead several thousand ghost sailors to accompany Herge and promptly begin the takeover of the Blackgolon Region. Hergé dared not refuse.
All the powers across the Christopher Region turned their attention to Blackgolon, eager to see Charlot’s next move.
If Charlot intended to continue attacking other regions, they would prepare accordingly. However, they soon breathed a collective sigh of relief.
After securing Blackgolon, Charlot abolished all taxes, established a commercial alliance, reformed the laws, and recruited strong residents into the West Wind Knight Order. His policies quickly won the approval of the majority of the population.
For the lower classes, the removal of taxes was like having a mountain lifted from their shoulders, making life instantly easier. The middle classes found their lives safer, with cleaner streets and the introduction of public carriages for convenience, leading to a sense of renewal. Even the wealthy appreciated the improved business environment, free from robbery, extortion, sabotage, and fraud, with the commercial alliance providing protection and support. Accumulating wealth became easier, and losses diminished.
Having completed these reforms, Charlot departed from Blackgolon without even leaving Yishemierlen behind.
The city lords across the Christopher Region, upon learning of Charlot’s departure, believed he was acting on the orders of a deity he served. Since he had left, they tacitly agreed to maintain peace and refrain from any provocative actions.
Yishemierlen, carrying Charlot, quickly located the remote island he had previously lost.
After discovering a new maritime route, Charlot instructed Yishemierlen to carry him onward to resume the trials.
Before long, he encountered the forty-first labyrinth. It had already been thoroughly breached, requiring only labyrinth transformation to complete the challenge. Charlot accomplished this quietly and moved on.
Labyrinths forty-two, forty-three… fifty… sixty… seventy!
Charlot pressed forward relentlessly. Yet, every labyrinth he encountered had already been destroyed. His only task was to transform the defenseless cities into labyrinths.
At last, he reached the ninety-ninth labyrinth. There, he once again saw the Radiant Holy Kingdom and the Emilia Mecklenburg, along with a battle of godlike proportions!
Floating on the sea was a grand palace surrounded by countless corridors suspended above the water. Each corridor was filled with warriors who fought desperately to resist the attacks of the Radiant Holy Kingdom and the Emilia Mecklenburg.
Eumibella was nowhere to be seen, but the Radiant Holy Kingdom’s hull sprouted countless branches under Juno Arthur’s control, acting as the primary offensive force.
On the Emilia Mecklenburg, the diminutive figure of Emilia Mecklenburg radiated astonishing power. She unleashed spells relentlessly, each one causing the floating Agmirlas Labyrinth to tremble violently. Countless warriors defending the Evil God’s labyrinth perished in her wake.
Throughout his journey, Charlot had heard rumors of who had broken through the ninety-nine labyrinths.
It was his teacher, Juno Arthur, and his eldest daughter, Emilia Mecklenburg, who had accomplished this monumental feat.
Clearly, Agmirlas was in serious trouble.
The last labyrinth under its control was struggling to withstand the combined assault of the Radiant Holy Kingdom and the Emilia Mecklenburg.
Yishemierlen carried Charlot onto the Radiant Holy Kingdom, where he immediately sought out Juno. “Teacher, why have you personally taken action?”
Juno smiled faintly. “I sensed that if we didn’t speed up, we might miss the opportunity to claim Agmirlas’ most prized assets.”
“Right now, it cannot even exert one percent of its full power. This is the perfect moment for deicide!”
