Chapter 308: The Demonflame Horse

Suddenly, Charlot withdrew dozens of steps, driving the Berserker Blade into the ground. The Stardust Battle Energy receded like a tide, retreating into the nine Blood Vortices, transforming once more into Blood Glory.
Chloe thrust forward with his spear at a lightning-fast speed, paying no heed to the retreat.
Charlot hurled a Vampiric Hand Axe!
This weapon had long been out of use. Back when Charlot first began cultivating Bloodflame Aura, he had envisioned using Telekinetic Control to fight with weapons from a distance. Yet over time, he had transitioned to a focus on melee combat.
Chloe parried the incoming axe with his spear, granting Charlot a brief opening. Blood Glory surged within Charlot’s body, converting into the Bloodflame Aura of the Adonis Clan. With a telekinetic gesture, the deflected Vampiric Hand Axe veered back, emitting a ghostly wail that was deeply unsettling.
“What sort of trickery is this?” Chloe cursed.
Charlot smiled faintly. “This is no trick. It is the secret art created by the great human philosopher, Protagoras.”
The Bloodflame Aura surged through eight additional Blood Vortices, amplifying in layers. Each Vortex’s energy contributed to elevating the Bloodflame Aura by one tier, causing the Vampiric Hand Axe’s power to increase unpredictably.
In just a moment, the Bloodflame Aura had risen to the eleventh tier. Chloe, who had assumed Charlot had merely switched abilities, suddenly sensed his adversary’s power rise once more, reaching the twelfth tier.
This was the genuine pinnacle of mid-tier Transcendence.
Not long ago, Charlot had received the gaze of the Serpent of Fate. The “favor” of this god had propelled his cultivation to a rapid breakthrough.
Following his ascension, Charlot snapped his fingers. A colossal crimson horse engulfed in black flames emerged from the void, its hooves striking the ground with deliberate majesty. Fully saddled and bridled, the horse snorted repeatedly, its fiery presence overwhelming.
This was the new ability awakened within the Bloodflame Aura of the Adonis Clan: the Demonflame Horse.
More precisely, it was a summoning ability—Summoning the Demonflame Horse.
Among Charlot’s earliest awakened abilities, the Bloodflame Aura of the Adonis Clan had seen the most development. This was due to the ever-looming threat of the Vampire God Karnstein’s descent, a constant crisis that pushed Charlot to master this secret art. In contrast, his progress with Arsilo Swordsmanship, though initially slower, had surpassed this path due to his natural talent for swordsmanship.
With the Serpent of Fate’s favor, Charlot had finally broken through. Not only had he elevated his rank to the twelfth tier, but he had also successfully mastered the Demonflame Horse.
As Charlot prepared to mount, the horse let out a furious neigh and opened its enormous maw, attempting to bite him ferociously.
Charlot narrowly dodged, withdrawing his hand just in time to avoid being bitten.
Chloe burst into raucous laughter. “You plan to fight with comedy? Are you serious?”
“While we of the Black Phoenix Dynasty lack the secret arts of Protagoras or the knowledge of vampire techniques, we at least know that summoned creatures must be tamed before they can be commanded.”
“And yet, you summon it mid-battle, expecting to use it immediately? That’s beyond absurd.”
“Now it’s you versus both me and this Demonflame Horse!”
Chloe raised his spear, keeping Charlot positioned between himself and the volatile beast. Clearly, Chloe understood that this otherworldly creature would attack indiscriminately, treating everyone as its enemy.
Charlot juggled controlling the Vampiric Hand Axe against Chloe while summoning the Blood Rose, which he wielded with a Flame Dragon’s Hand. He unleashed a series of sword techniques, aiming to subdue the unruly horse.
The Demonflame Horse matched Charlot in rank as a mid-tier pinnacle Transcendent. Its speed nearly rivaled Charlot, even with his tenfold Swiftstep Technique, and it wielded deadly power, capable of breathing magical flames and delivering devastating physical blows.
Charlot cursed inwardly, regretting his decision to switch tactics mid-battle.
As he prepared to shift his energy again, he found himself caught between Chloe and the Demonflame Horse. Left with no chance to regroup, Charlot was forced to endure the chaos.
Just as Charlot felt overwhelmed, Chloe suddenly withdrew his spear and fled the scene. Charlot found the move perplexing, but the Demonflame Horse charged forward, forcing him to focus on the beast.
Without Chloe, the fight against the Demonflame Horse became manageable. Charlot swiftly subdued the creature, scorching it with Bloodflame Aura until it ceased its resistance.
The subdued horse projected an impression of immense hunger. Demonflame Horses, being evolved from magical spirit horses, required no ordinary sustenance but rather a unique energy—Blood Energy.
Charlot poured half of his Blood Energy reserves into the beast, satisfying its hunger. The horse snorted contentedly, ceasing its resistance and rubbing affectionately against Charlot.
Now strengthened by Charlot’s Bloodflame Aura, the Demonflame Horse appeared even more fearsome, its black flames subdued but its power amplified. It exhaled plumes of black smoke, flames flickering at its nostrils.
The creature towered over ordinary Shire horses, standing at over 3.5 pimi tall. Its massive build rivaled that of an Asian elephant and only slightly trailed the largest African bull elephants. With its slender legs and flowing tail, the horse exuded both grace and overwhelming power—a true champion among horses.
Charlot mounted the Demonflame Horse and summoned the Berserker Blade. The knightly spear, far longer and heavier than Earthly lances, was designed for riders of extraordinary strength. Ready to demonstrate mounted combat, Charlot noticed Herolf, the Golden Ram, standing silently nearby.
“Why aren’t you fighting?” Charlot inquired.
Herolf remained silent, exuding an air of isolation.
Looking up, Charlot realized that Andreas, the youngest Saint of the Black Phoenix Dynasty, had vanished from the battlefield...
