So, we’re working on something sort of big. Technically it was announced a day or two ago in a quite public manner that still floors me, but I’m not sure how much I can talk about it until it’s public on New Year’s, but it’s probably the craziest project we could ever have been involved in. It’ll definitely end up in a video with a hopefully interesting BTS take on it. I don’t know exactly how much because we’ve been extremely busy but there will certainly be a recap when we g...

I often want to dirty up some procedural textures with things like smudges (on the black knob) and a lot of what I have is from paid packs, etc. that I can't share. So I'm releasing these free to everyone that's following us here on Patreon. There's 11 4K textures and the 12th one is 8K and tileable if you happen to need that.
Here's another example. Put them to good use. You can distribut...

That's a lot of space, but this thing can be tiny. So what is Multi-tool? It is our way of fixing all of the little annoyances that After Effects gives us. For example, did you open a new project, double-click on the project panel and the folder that loads is from the previous project? Annoying, right? Opt/Alt click the folder icon and it'll set that default import to be where your current proje...

Hi everyone! Thanks for your support. Here's a new video drop, ANNDDD a new model + textures. There are more textures to come from this when I get a moment to prep them so keep an eye on your email!
For more backstory, we got busy in between when I originally filmed most of this and when I modeled it. I'm also working on switching our site over to a different backend so I can update it more frequently. Hopefully I'll be done with that soon so I can add more content there as well. I'll ...

Warning: earmuffs. There's no chicken noises bleeping this one out. 😂 Our friend Joe joined us—well me—on a rant after After Effects annoyed me yet again. We have another video in the queue, but I fast-tracked this one because I'm just so tired of dealing with bugs in After Effects.
I wanted to get this one out a little earlier, but I made the thumbnail last night (and I still want to modify it). But here it is a little early for you guys!
I hope you all enjoy!

Hi! Thanks for your support! Today we have an interesting procedural dither-ish effect.
I was screwing around in After Effects with my usual setup to posterize images with layer maps. This time I was using a pseudo-Bayer pattern. Eventually I went in and added CC Vector Blur on top and that interacted in a really interesting way. It sort of t...

Hi! Here's an After Effects project I was playing in. It uses the idea of creating mattes based on posterized brightness levels and then combining them using glows and blurs. I'm using Deep Glow 2 here, but you can swap in your own glow to make it work. I might expand on this further, but I do like the current look a lot. You can also turn off the Mosaic effect (or double the blocks) in the Source comp to get a less blocky look that still works.
In this video, we discussed AI. How we use it when we do, where it's going, and what we think the ultimate goal of it is. We try to figure out the future, but this is the hardest moving target to hit in our lifetimes.
Check it out, and let us know what you think. Also, thank you—as always—for your support! And yes I use em dashes, damnit, and I'm a real human. 😂 I just like typography. Fight me!

I've had this on my hard drive for a little bit, but I finally got the time to organize it a little into something cohesive. It was a couple of separate projects that shared elements, so I named them Cloud Chamber because that was my inspiration for the projects.
There are some print-ish textures made in Photoshop, then two text projects bui...

Hi! Here's a pack of Gobos (21 total, plus a video file from Corona) that you can use in your 3D scenes, or you can also use them in your 2D work if you want. None of them are animated, but they could be if you want to. They'd be really useful for look development, and that's probably how I'll use them in the future.
I left the Blender setup in there in case you want to grab that lighting setup.
Anyway, thanks, as always, for your support!

Latest video is up. It'll go live tomorrow (unless I notice something when I rewatch it!).
Sev and I revisited the topic of burnout from our first video back, and discussed it a little deeper. As we get going again, let us know if there's anything you'd like to see, or any topic you'd like us to cover. I think the next video will be a discussion on AI. We had already done a discussion on it, and then Joey from School of Motion posted a talk about it too, so we're going to also work in ...

Our latest video is hot off the presses! We're about to push it live to everyone, but here's a slightly early preview. We would've posted it for you guys yesterday, but we didn't have the thumbnail built yet!
Anyway, we're basically continuing on with building the intro, and we also have a piece at the end where we show how the previous thumbnail was made.
That's all for now, but we'll have some files for you soon!
Thanks for your support!

I would've posted this yesterday but it got an automatic copyright check on it, even though our whole channel should be cleared from our licensor so I had to submit a protest. It was fixed quickly, but I had to go do something else.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy this new style. It has some of our discussion for making a new intro animation, some fun banter, and some working. There wasn't much to showcase in the way of technique just yet, but we'll have some of that in future videos.

We figured we'd post this here first since you are all our most loyal people. Workbench is back but it's evolving. As far as Patreon goes though, we're moving along as normal, but you'll probably see some additional BTS of where a lot of the elements we post here come from. Hopefully you'll find that interesting. Thanks for sticking with us, and we hope you'll enjoy our new direction.

This is a fun procedural setup in After Effects based on a Photoshop tutorial from TextureLabs.
Hi everyone! Thanks as always for your support. Here is a fun procedural setup in After Effects based on a Photoshop tutorial from Brady over at TextureLabs. He's always got some great ideas, and I wanted to play around with this one. In fact, it also inspired me to start making a plugin that does this nearly instantly—obviously that's quite a different process 😂—as I've always loved t...

An After Effects setup to build a randomized candlestick chart
Hey! We've been doing a lot of 3D lately, but we've finally got some new After Effects content. We were working on a spot that involved stock market graphics and this was a rejected concept. We thought it was a cool setup, so here it is. There's also a filled in style that has a controller to select colors.
This is all based on noise functions. The x position of each element changes its height. We hope you find it usef...

A new model of a satellite dish built for Patrons
Hi everyone! Thanks for being our Patrons! We have more stuff in the queue, but I took a bit building this, and now I'm finally sharing it!
This one has been a ride. As I mentioned last time, Polycam released a new feature where you can upload a single image and it will make a 3D model from that image. It's pretty decent, but what is excellent is that it gives you a rough shape to build from. So I had Midjourney generate an image.<...

Hi everyone! Been a little busy on some things, but I had a moment to get out this record player I built last night.
You might've also seen this on X in a teaser for our next plugin. We're back in the plugin game!
But let's talk about this record player. I found out that Polycam now has this crazy single image to 3D model thing. So I generated something in Midjourney (the originals are in this download) and had Polycam do its thing. It gave a surprisingly good model, especially fo...

Here's a quick Python script I wrote today to calculate render times for folders of images.
And side note: this is so much better than holding onto and trying to organize these files by month!
Short story: I rendered something last night. It was short but the frames were large so I left it running. This morning, I closed my queue before seeing how long it took and I was curious—especially since I had to re-render it. I've had this idea for a while, and since I had to re-render t...

September elements and an update on element delivery for the future!
Hey everyone! We have some news. Obviously we get behind when we're busy and we have these files ready, but they need to be packaged so we can put them on Gumroad as well. Additionally, we each build things, and then we have to work together to figure out what is what and then when it's 4 months old, we have to go back and remember what we did so that we can write up a thing about it.
Fortunately, last year Patre...

Project files for August!
Hi everyone! Here's another set of delayed project files. This one seems small, but there's a lot in it. Everything for the scene above is included, as well as many other textures and kitbash models. July's elements for patrons!
Hi everyone! Thank you all so much for your concern, support, and your patience—especially with this long delay, and especially with the even longer hurricane delay. I just got hot water back today because I had to fix my gas tankless system so finally we're almost back to normal. So I appreciate it. More should hopefully be on the way next week. We need to clean up and organize the files. Anyway, here's what's in the July elements!

Should’ve sent this sooner. We’re ok. I’m without power. Sev had power when I checked on his house. Obviously it’s going to be a it for us to finally get our files out but I wanted to let you know that we’re ok. Thankfully, neither of us had damage (other than we both need to replace a few old bits of fence that broke). I’ve sent a lot of lucky people in my travels and a thankfully just a few unlucky ones. There were cars that trees fell around but without even scratching the car....

We're really trying to get out the files amongst other work, but we also keep having to prep for hurricanes. I've been trying to finish this scene for a bit, and it's finally ready to go. So again, we're really sorry, but we have no idea if we'll even have power after this hurricane (or even houses maybe) so we're going to have to play it by ear.

Sorry for the delay everyone! We've been mad at work though. We're building a bunch of stuff so it's taking a bit. I've been learning Blender, Sev's been working in Plasticity. We both went out and shot some textures and things (graffiti with alpha for example) to make models out of. I even rigged one of my chickens in 3D. Sev's been building a bunch of kitbash elements too. Anyway, I just want to make sure you all know we haven't forgotten you and there's cool stuff on the way. In the meanti...
