Chapter 279: Infinite Mirror World 2
Added 2025-02-22 15:09:01 +0000 UTCIf it were just an ordinary mirror, it wouldn’t matter.
Occasionally, members of the Van Gogh Clan would accidentally break a mirror, and the shattered fragments would give birth to dozens, even hundreds, of Mirror Spirits.
Mirror Spirits could only exist within the Mirror World.
Only by killing the original owner could a Mirror Spirit replace them, leave the Mirror World, and become a dangerous anomaly.
As long as one avoided entering the Mirror World and destroyed the shattered mirror fragments, the Mirror Spirits would vanish.
Charlot Mecklenburg was unwilling to abandon this opportunity. By manipulating all the portholes aboard the Queen Bee, he couldn’t yet seize control of the ship, but he was one step closer to achieving that goal.
Charlot pulled out a Mirror Spirit, watching as it silently screamed and turned to ashes. Suddenly sensing something, he quickly concealed himself within one of the portholes.
Dozens of pirates strode toward the port and boarded the Queen Bee. One pirate glanced at the porthole, but of course, he saw nothing.
Charlot snapped his fingers, linking this porthole to the Mirror World under his control.
In an instant, countless silvery Blood Runes appeared in his eyes, forming a second mirror. The two mirrors, composed of silver runes, established a wondrous connection—this was Infinite Mirror World ×2!
It was a brand-new extraordinary ability that could be called—Mirror Gate!
The Mirror Gate could create a portal anywhere, allowing the user to return to the Mirror World at any time.
In simpler terms, it was akin to carrying a portable mirror that granted control over the Mirror World.
For vampires of the Van Gogh Clan, this ability was the ultimate escape technique.
This was also why, despite their lack of powerful combat skills or spells, the Van Gogh Clan remained one of the three royal clans.
Vampires of the Van Gogh Clan were notoriously difficult to kill.
They were elusive and made for the perfect assassins.
Charlot had already occupied the Mirror World of hundreds of portholes aboard the Queen Bee. Once connected, it allowed him to monitor almost the entire ship. The Mirror World’s vast ocean stretched endlessly, seemingly without boundaries.
Ordinary mirrors, fixed in one place, could only reflect a small area, and the Mirror Worlds they created were relatively small.
The Queen Bee had existed for at least several centuries, sailing through countless seas and docking at countless ports, resulting in an expansive, boundless Mirror World.
Even if Charlot carried a mirror for decades of travel, it would be impossible to create a Mirror World as large as the one tied to the Queen Bee. Moreover, Mirror Worlds depended on the mirrors themselves. If the mirror were accidentally broken, decades of effort would be wasted. But the Queen Bee, as a transcendent artifact, was nearly indestructible, making its Mirror World exceptionally stable.
This was another crucial reason why Charlot was reluctant to give up control over the ship’s portholes.
The ancient magical warship soon set sail. Charlot was puzzled as to why Herolf the Golden Ram hadn’t accompanied it.
After some hesitation, he chose to temporarily leave the Queen Bee.
Charlot leaped out of the Mirror World, diving back into the port waters. Using the Beast God Transformation, he turned into a small bear-man.
He had been away for several days, and his subordinates dared not question him. One of the top ten generals, Deep-Sea Squid, had sent someone to check on him, but finding him absent, the general had made no further inquiries. Charlot had been prepared to use the Mirror Gate to flee if his identity was exposed, but nothing happened.
The chaos of pirate gatherings meant there was no logic to follow.
After days of continuous battles with Mirror Spirits, Charlot was exhausted. The spiritual toll was especially great. Returning to Saint Michael Island, he rested for two or three days to recover.
Charlot had another purpose in returning to Saint Michael Island—he wanted to verify a few things.
When he was a slave, he had no personal freedom. Even if he wanted to escape, there was nowhere to run on Saint Michael Island.
Later, as a lowly errand boy among the pirates, his freedom remained limited. But after replacing Black Seahorse, he gained the privilege to go anywhere except the royal palace.
Once refreshed, Charlot found an excuse to wander around Saint Michael City.
During the era of the Saint Michael Kingdom, the island was extraordinarily wealthy. The city, built into the mountain, was a massive fortress rarely seen even in the Ingrima and Fars Empires.
The city was divided into seven tiers. The topmost tier was, of course, the royal palace. The second tier housed the kingdom’s former nobles, now occupied by the five vice-captains and the ten top generals of the pirate fleet.
The third tier served as the base for mid-level pirates, dark merchants, slave traders, and mysterious dignitaries visiting Saint Michael Island. It was also the location of taverns, casinos, slave markets, and pirate trade zones.
The fourth and fifth tiers held barracks and warehouses, while the sixth and seventh tiers housed low-level pirates and slaves performing menial tasks.
Charlot went directly to the third tier, where he quickly found a shop with a display window.
After ensuring no one was watching, he calmly stepped into the Mirror World.
This Mirror World was unexpectedly vast. Having reflected the streets of Saint Michael City for many years, it contained countless pirates, slave traders, and underground merchants coming and going.
He spotted a Mirror Spirit identical to himself, sitting on a stone pedestal by the roadside, resting its chin in its hands. Upon seeing him, the Mirror Spirit shrugged and said, “I wish I could walk in the outside world like you.”
“You must know, this place is too small, far too small, and unbearably dull.”
“Could you lend me your body for a little while? I just want to go outside for a moment. I’ll return it to you right away.”
Charlot shrugged as well and said, “Sure!”
The Mirror Spirit was overjoyed and extended a hand to touch Charlot. Waiting for it was a thin rapier. Charlot’s sword pierced through the Mirror Spirit’s body. He observed the Mirror World but felt it still hadn’t fallen under his control.
“You lied to me!” he said.
The Mirror Spirit reappeared among the crowd. Furious, it was about to shout those very words, but Charlot cut it off.
With a Red Viper pistol in hand, Charlot fired six shots, all of which the Mirror Spirit evaded with bizarre movements.
Charlot knew the Mirror Spirits grew stronger over time but hadn’t expected this one to surpass all the others he had faced. This wasn’t surprising, given that his Infinite Mirror World had advanced.
The Mirror Spirit also drew a pistol identical to the Red Viper. Although it lacked extraordinary properties, every bullet it fired struck with the full force of an eleventh-rank Transcendent.
They exchanged over a dozen moves, racing through the streets of the Mirror World in a parkour-like chase, showcasing gunplay even more dazzling than a gun-dueling technique.
Suddenly, Charlot smiled and tossed the Blood Rose. Like lightning, it shot toward the Mirror Spirit.
The Mirror Spirit threw a rapier in response, but its expression immediately turned to terror, as if it had realized its mistake…
