Clan Prototype Prints
Added 2019-06-23 21:27:48 +0000 UTC
Josh, one of our CGL printers, is hard at work pumping out an army of prototype print miniatures. Only missing the Stormcrow and Shadow Cat in this shot. We need a lot of them ready for some con season surprises.
I'm loving the Dire Wolf in physical form, so chunky.
By the way, what are your thoughts on the poses?
Good variety?
Too uniform of a variety?
Wish some were more extreme?
Wish some were more neutral/brace stanced?
Relaxed non-aiming poses?
We have a scale issue with our digital production currently so I'm not sure a comparison would be good regardless. As you can see they scale well to themselves, but might be 1-2mm too short by the GoAC minis.

Any reason why the Stormcrow wasn't included in this shot? Are you considering further changes to it? It's one of my absolute favourite Clan mechs. Any chance you would share a picture of the prototype at some stage? Gosh, I am so pumped since the Kickstarter took off.

Would it be possible to throw one of the new Awesomes in a lineup with these guys? Just to get an idea of scale?

The Direwolf is just awesome, terrific job, well done. By far the best incarnation I have ever seen.

Oh cool! Thanks for sharing this image! Excellent executioner! But do i like it more than the DW?

These all look really good. I think I like the Executioner and Summoner the best. The Mist Lynx is also neat... makes me look forward to seeing a Fire Moth... KEEP THE ARMS UP! Just make them look cool.

Good ideas. A few get single arm poses here. The "come at me" pose is one I'll strongly consider, just wasn't sure how people would appreciate both arms down.

I'm hoping some of these make it into TRO Clans, but production windows lined up very tight. Just as some, but not all of my new IS mechs made it into TRO Succession Wars.

Nova at least has a sensible single arm raised pose, so infer its heat struggles :D

I've noticed almost everyone buying mwo pirate minis is stuck with completely stock poses. Hope they're ready to buy everything over again.

I put it in the most "braced" stance for variety, and it'd be the most likely to stand still and fire.

The static Summoner (and Hellbringer) stance is one I've never been a fan of. None of the past minis have had the feel to them that they were in motion yet some of the old TCG art portrayed beautifully.

No Gargoyle here yet. The prints maybe one piece but likely the KS plastics will be pre-assembled like the current boxset ones is my guess.

there are two big features I love doing to my miniatures occasionally. the first one is a single arm mounted weapon raised as if carfully aiming, the rest of the mech in a type of "I am stopping still" pose. think Miami Vice when Don Johnson was shooting one handed.
the other pose on a person would look like a "come at me brah" pose. wide feet arms spread but weapons pointed slightly outward and down. another variation if you don't want to make a mech look passive is more of a "fighting a whole army" look like on the cover of "Falcon Guard."
just thoughts.

Cool! Also my very thanks for sharing all the picts of the minis for the KS and coming or possible future miniatures. I like them as they are and hope you keep up the slack and design new minis! I hope as well that some of your picts Go into some new TROs (and maybe some of Bens as well...). Great work!

Wow, these are sooooo cool, they look fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing :) The sculpts are just so amazing and the poses are perfect, I'm not fond of super dynamic or extreme poses...these poses have just enough "action" in them to prevent them from being too static, but not so much that they look too dynamic -> perfect...and yeah, I hope we see the Mad Dog and Hellbringer as well as others, too :) Got my cash all ready for the Kickstarter...

Nova and Adder are a little to static but the rest are great.

I like the compromise between "action" and "neutral" posing here. Too active and they become very "one-note" and possibly divisive. Too neutral and you are basically requiring people to modify them if they're not happy as-is.
Also, love the Grendel. That's a stellar update.

I really like them. The mist lynx looks amazing. The timber wolf has enough presence that it doesn’t need that much motion. The Executioner is one of my favorite pieces; the stance is perfect. The dire wolf, eh, other than putting it in a walking stance, I think it’s good

I would say the only adjustments I would make are to have them facing the front of the hex. A couple are a little canted. Really like seeing the Gargoyle. Gonna cut the inside toe off the Dire Wolf to match the original look myself. Really diggin the Timber Wolf and Summoner. These are going to be printed whole, right? To convert the Nova over to its original form would require manually disassembling the piece? They look fantastic. I am really hoping that the image quality is hiding a lot of detain.

Oh you have the Storm Crow already, my bad.

Toss the Grendal and get the Storm Crow in there. Other than that, lookin great! Can't wait to see pics of them going against the Inner Sphere models. BTW Are you going to be doing some nice Tech Manual pics for these guys like you did for latest Inner Sphere mechs?

A lot of existing BT sculpts suffer from either being too neutral (or none at all) or having wild flailing arms.
The possible trap of these is they're almost all "one foot forward" stances.

Btw, the poses work for me. I reckon a relatively neutral pose is the best choice here.
2019-06-23 21:38:52 +0000 UTC
Awesome work. No one would get suspicious if these just 'fell of the truck' and ended up with me for some reason, right?
2019-06-23 21:35:50 +0000 UTC
I think they look great and the style is varied enough with in the Clan style if that makes sense?

They look amazing! But... where are the Warhawk, Ice Ferret, Kit Fox, Mad Dog, Firemoth, Viper, Gargoyle and Hellbringer?
2019-06-23 21:33:12 +0000 UTC
Those are some serious lookers, I think they’re amazing
