City (a) - Instant Reaction - Misery Edition

Comments

I know you’ll get a lot of these messages but I just want to indulge, as with the pandemic, you guys have been fantastic for my mental health. You deserve so much more than you’re getting from Arsenal Football Club but thanks for making it easier. X

Elneny time

Anthony H

Yeah

Xhaka should get wayyyy more credit …he took himself out of the next 3 games so Arteta has to start Sambi with Partey… 🤣

Saliba….. lol 😂 😂😂😂Legit we are fucked. Spurs top of the league, us bottom. With yanks in charge who don’t care. In Australia I am crying myself to sleep. I miss when we turned up to win

Agree. Paul is spot on with Leno. Last season we played out from the back and had some great success and some awful periods doing it. We then had a shaky period of bad play where Leno was often at fault and people started asking why he can't just clear it from time to time if the options are bad for short play. Shortly after thats what he starts to do and since then he's constantly doing it.

Could Saliba be recalled if Mikel goes?

Thanks for the pod gents. That was evil in its purest form sitting through that yesterday

Maybe a sponge pudding

Within 90 mins. Spurs could be to and We could be bottom. Where can we comment and be heard? I feel like I’m screaming in a desert

I’m having a right rant, but I guess this is the instant reaction therapy session. I’m stuck in Aus, boarders shut by politicians worse than Edu, last game I saw live was the 3-2 win over Everton. Bought my Aussie son an Arsenal kit (free number printing at the time) that will be put in storage. Gutted we are shit, because we are. But forever loyal 😵‍💫

Agree with Paul. Leno was poor. I felt like he should have claimed the cross on the first goal and was outside the posts on the Jesus goal to give him a tap in. Pretty much refuses to go short now as well. Struggling to see a plan right now in amy part of the pitch. Players seems to be checking out from what ever the plan is to protect their reputations. I think this is only going one way now unfortunately.

Arteta throw his players under a double decker at the end of his press conference. The blokes more done as manager/coach/laughing stock than a chicken roast put on before you go for a 5 hour session at the pub.

😂

As you guys spoke tactics, statistics and players it hit me that Arteta had made this team only about those technical factors, completely ignoring the human side of the game. He doesn't have a clue how to make his players fight. Give a battle when things aren't going well. Which in this league is only to solve with unlimited money. He's not coming out of that machine I'm afraid.

Arsenal Lives Matter

Super League…. WTF….. Bottom Of The League

Pack your hair gel and just resign

Think about the children (kids) 🤣

This one was hard to take, and then my 10 year old dog died right next to me. Horrible day

It doesn't make any sense to wait and judge things over 12 14 games cos we are up now down then can't flip flop. My friend. You sound bossy. Chill mate. You want a choice made now. It's low it's high. Chill

Everyone Out

Why are we so poor when we go a goal down is my biggest problem. Arteta has never won a game when losing at half time in 15 attempts or so. The game plan just seems to crumble at that point. The players don't seem to understand that they need to get their foot on the ball and slow the opposition down of course against city this is a different case. But villa, wolves, burnley, Everton and Brentford shouldn't be thinking game over once they get a goal against us. How are we two years into the arteta experiment and his game management seems to be worse.

So glad I didn’t wake up to watch this one. can’t wait to see what y’all have to say about it

Brandon

Hard to see what Arteta was attempting today. Was extremely worried when I seen the team sheet. I don't normally worry about the team until the game starts but it normally doesn't include Cedric and Kolasinac unless it's a Carabeo cup and even then it's usually only one of. Awful defending seemed to be the order of the day. There's really not point in playing a back three, when there doesn't seem to be an organisational plan to do it. I think Arteta was only doing it in reaction to the Chelsea game. Which for me shows a weakness from him. Another thing I'm not talking really about today but why are we so poor when we go down to ten men. Not the first game it's happened and when it does it seems all our ambition and expectation of a positive outcome seems to go out the window. Big up to the fans who stayed till the end. Hope the players remember them and put in the effort they deserve going forward. The Derby is huge for Mikel. Come on you Gunners.

Ss we

It's this kind of backline performance that has every AFC fan go "and Saliba not good enough for this team?"....

Mentality plays a big role in both derby's and mid /low tier teams, i honestly fear that all the PL oposition has 0% fear against Arsenal they feel they can defeat us , that they can find a decent key pass and we just ... wont… its not even a debate if its Arteta’s fault anymore , the whole institution reeks of failure in all of its aspects

Brutal day and this is the best place to get it all out. But big picture, here’s the deal - the fish rots from the head. I’m to the point that I can’t say that literally ANY owner isn’t better than a completely disconnected, non-spending KSE. I’m fine being a mid-table club at this point - I’m not fine seeing the broken shell we have become.

Iv tried to calm down and think about this and the only rational I can give is that we didn’t have our best players. Apart from Chambers, kolasinac & tierney every one of those players was signed or given a new contract by arteta. There were others in the bench who could have replaced those in the team who were not signed by him. The manager is out of ideas and it is so abundantly clear needs to be replaced. Podcasts & analysis seem pointless until that happens. I’m so upset by what I am seeing at the moment.

Let me tell you about Ralph Hasenhuttl

I really want to support Arteta and I don't think City away is the moment to pull the trigger on sacking him however, when Kolasinac was playing CB while Saliba is getting a national call up playing for someone else I really struggle

I always regret waking up for the early game … today was no exception

Actually there were 7 Arteta players in the squad today, 3 started (Odegaard, Cedric & Xhaka, who counts as he’s given him a new contract). The other 4 on the bench weren’t good enough to start or play a single minute (Tavares, Lokonga, Mari & Ramsdale)

Thanks man. Very trying times

Still think Arteta is to blame?

Fucking embarrassing. Watching Arsenal get bullied for to long Going back to the 8-2, multiple 5-0 scorelines, deep scars that last. I see more and more Chelsea/City fans in U.S unlike how there were a lot of Arsenal fans here ten years ago. When I wear my Arsenal gear most people laugh/cry/console me lol...man. Thank you guys for this pod tho, cathartic. I enjoy the pod more than most seasons.

2 actually, odegaard + Cedric (4 year contract LMAO)

Don’t forget. All the players you think were shit today were signed by Wenger. One Arteta signing on the pitch. And you blame him?

That performance was the most limp I’ve ever witnessed. No fight or passion. The players look completely lost. Why wait a few more games to see if he can get it right? Arteta is a nice guy but this job is too big for him!

😂 😭

Good try Eliot. I’m surprised you had an almost positive beginning to this pod

Agree with you mate. My gut still hurts eventhough my senses were numb. This is a great club and we cannot be lulled into a false sense of process where there is none. It's stasis and if you don't change we will get worse.

Today, I'm in misery. I can't believe what this has come to. Arteta must resign. I'm looking out for this in the news.
