A Word About Discord
Added 2021-07-24 00:18:58 +0000 UTCI love our discord! Love it! Love this community. But it’s also my job to make sure it’s great for everyone wonderful enough to be here.
To that end, the need for some clearer rules in discord is growing. In the mean time, please read this:

Blogs really nails it as usual. Those rules are the rules here too.
I haven’t banned anyone cause I’m just basically not good with conflict. But letting people ruin a great community reflects worse on me than being the bad guy occasionally. So bans are coming. It will make me incredibly sad and uncomfortable to do it but it’s my job and not doing it doesn’t make me a “nice guy.” It makes me a coward.
**Here are the 2 golden rules I’m looking for when banning**
1. Is someone just shitposting. You know what shitposting is. You’re ruining a discussion saying a bunch of passive aggressive nonsense that’s designed to not specifically target anyone for abuse but just piss people off and prevent conversation. If you read back your last few messages and think “wow that must’ve really annoyed people and added nothing to the conversation” then it’s bannable.
2. Abuse, slurs, aggressive condescension. If you hate someone’s opinion so much that you’d rather be mean to them than give another view, just pass. Here’s a wild fact; you don’t *have* to engage with something you disagree with.
“Saliba is good enough to start for Arsenal!” If that upsets you enough to attack the person saying it, just pass.
“Ben white is cheap at £50M.” Does it drive you crazy? Then just let it go.
Cause the alternative isn’t good for you or anyone. If you can’t say what you think without phrasing it in a way that makes someone else feel bad… go away.
Let me repeat that: if you can’t give your opinion in a way that doesn’t make someone else feel bad, you’re not wanted here.
So that’s it. I hate this. I really feel so lucky to have met all of you and love that we are all here together. And overwhelmingly discord has been a wonderful lovely place! I know everyone here can express themselves in ways that don’t make other people feel like crap. So hopefully that continues to happen.! Thanks ❤️
