Transfer Manifesto Part Two - Defense and GK

Elliot and Clive get together to discuss the defense and goal keepers.

First they cover the type of players that Arsenal need to reshape the defense into something appropriate for a club that wants to be much closer to the top of the table. Then they run through the players at the club and who should stay and go, with special attention paid to William Saliba. Finally there's a discussion about potential targets, including goal keepers.

For fun, here are some good YouTube comps!

Great pod guys, I still think we over look Mavropanos. His a good solid defender, good age and has decent experience. We could use him as a RCB whilst waiting for Saliba to mature.

Have a question for Elliot. You say you trust in stats. You had 2 stats guys do a pod here where they poo pooed on the narrative that we got better after Christmas, but yet you still cling to that theory. Care to explain?

The Saliba idea looks great I want him to get a chance too...I just hope if and when Arteta trusts a young Pairing of Gabriel and Saliba and it fails, we will have the ability to understand because if we are 8th by December we would all be loosing it

“Hernias are not recurring injuries, I should know, I have had three of them” Love this series gents 👌

Great pod again guys! Looking forward to part 3. I really hope that next season Arteta treats Saliba the same way that he has treated Saka and Smith-rowe. Give him a chance, and if he takes it, give him more chances..

One interesting thing about Onana. If you watch his shot stopping, just before the shot he moves a step to his right so the striker often ends up shooting to Onana’s left. Which plays into his hands because he has a really strong left hand. Very strong.

Whoops autocorrect to Zweli showing my South African side. Zeki***

Really like the analysis of Zweli Çelik. He looks the business. Square set of shoulders on him. Tackles a bit like Pablo Mari: will win it with a shoulder barge if he can, if he cant, he will happily go on with a bit of ferocity to intimidate the winger or nick it with a standing tackle. Very true Clive about his intention on the cross - he seems to have a clear picture about the final outcome when he delivers the ball
