Ep.3: Weeping Peninsula | Roundtable Hold

Hey RKG patrons,

Here's the latest episode of Roundtable Hold. It covers all of the Weeping Peninsula and our return meeting with Margit. So if you haven't watched Ep.7 yet, which just went into Early Access, you might want to give that a watch first.

Here's a little overview of what we tackle in today's episode.

We hope you enjoy the latest instalment of Roundtable Hold. We think we're really finding our way with this show now. We really want this to feel like a great companion show to the main series, a place for us to dig into more detail or cover the little things that we wouldn't have time to in a typical episode of RETRY.

If you've got any questions at all, remember you can contact us on roundtable@rkgvideo.com

We'll be back in a fortnight!

the funny thing about Miyazaki & Martin working together is that Miyazaki didn't ask the producers to work with him because of ASOIAF books but because of a 1982 vampire novel he wrote called Fevre Dream. but also knowing someone who did concept art for this game, artists were allowed (not encouraged) to pay homage if they wanted but nothing incredibly blatant for probably obvious reasons.

Now they're filmed close to when we've done that area in the game, which is ideal. The first few of these were filmed a few weeks after we'd done the bit in the game, because we didn't have time/it was more important to get RETRY footage in the bag. But going forward RTH will be filmed right after we've just done that area, so it's fresh in our minds.

Long time lurker, first time interactor. Are these filmed well after you all have filmed more episodes or are they filmed in line with where you are in the game?

I don't think the guys have ever really bowed to community pressure on this stuff, it's more an internal decision to play a certain way. It's totally fine to limit certain mechanics that objectively make the game easier if the guys want to do it - it's the same as selecting hardcore on a Resi run over normal mode. I'm sure the guys enjoy the challenge aspect and want to keep that an integral part of the series (and there's no denying many fans enjoy it too). Sure, they could play in a way that would steamroll most of the game's content, but I doubt that's how Rory, Gav and Krupa want to experience the game, so of course let them decide how they want to play and set arbitrary rules (many players do themselves, after all). They certainly aren't listening to random angry fans for which direction to take the series, or the whole thing would be Untenable (hosted by Warwick Davis).

Brian Wilson

Am I the only one that really hates how people in the community want to limit the way Rory/the three of you approach and experience this game? I REALLY dislike introducing all these rules about how and when Rory can use this games machanics and features for the sake of "making it harder". Rory is good at these games now and artificially making the game harder by taking tools out of his toolbox is just going to make the play through bland and uninteresting. I don't care if Rory is "OP" and it makes me proud to see how good he has become. It's almost like... what's the point in playing Elden Ring if your just going to play it like Dark Souls 1.

Brian Williams

Really glad you're introducing this rule on spirit summons! Nothing better than seeing Rory overcoming big challenges the old fashioned way!

Ed Armitage

After being absolutely annhialted by Margit for a would hour or two, I was filthy when Rory rinsed it first try. I had to laugh.

Blake Lindwall

I understand people wanting things to be harder since that's normally what these games are known for, but I personally think there's a lot of discounting just how good Rory is getting at these. Some of these boss fights have been fought spectacularly (coming from someone who has been through the game twice), and Rory is handicapping himself a bit by spreading points so evenly across everything anyways. Limiting spirit summons could be fun, but personally I think keep on keeping on!

I love these roundtable hold chats. Are we not getting Krupa trivia each time? I love the confused look on Rory's face as he's processing the questions.

So the talk they had leading up to around 5:40 about “is it bad or good that they reuse the same character…” i think it’s good. It’s like that scene from Jurassic park. When the girl is trying to lock the doors. And she’s like “i know this code.” That’s how i felt. I dodged the first few attacks and it felt so familiar. I was Neo in the matrix. I could see the code! Lol

Jacob Rosales

I've enjoyed these so much! You guys have been killing the extra features content. Some day I'd love commentary tracks on old PTT stuff 😀

Episode 0.... 1.....3? Did I miss something Roundtable Hold wise? Or is the naming convention just bonkers?

Excellent video boys! I was so impressed by the Margit fight. Another Lazy Michael catch for you, the imps in the catacombs have the same model as the thralls from DS3 😂

Mr. Henderson

Starting the day with a Roundtable Hold AND a Vaati video... what a time to be alive!
