Ties That Bind - Page 1 Progress (Pencils, Inks, WIP flats)(no text)
Added 2021-10-15 18:22:58 +0000 UTCManaged to put a fair few hours into this past few days. Had hoped to be a few stages ahead - but inking took longer than I expected!
But since this'll be a busy weekend for me (some crunch at work) I wanted to share with you where I'm at on page 1!
The big lingering question in my head with these pages is about the Background! Do I paint and render them? Like; https://www.furaffinity.net/view/38411983/ (time-consuming)
or do something like the QnA pages, like: https://www.patreon.com/posts/56520594 (faster and simple)?
No matter what - I want to give the background a light/shaddow-treatment; I built Owens room with slats in the windows because I lovvvve painting a 'slat' shadow on characters ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/12594581/ ). It gives me big happy Bladerunner lighting vibes <3
I'm thinking I'll pitch the different backgrounds to the higher tiers in a poll or something when I get there =)

Love Judy in that first panel. Great as always. I'm going to go with the consensus on the Q and A backgrounds. I think they work better. That they are faster is just a bonus.

As for backgrounds in general, I like both styles... the simpler ones in the Q'n'A give it a bit more of an 'artsy' feel and because of the difference in detail they make the characters pop a bit better... Yea... my vote is for the quicker ones.

Maybe save the painting bg for really special moments to give it that extra pop. Seeing that colored Nick got me all excited to see the rest polished up! Hope work doesn’t wear you out too bad. We in there.

I think the QnA style is fine personally, but that said, the page right after the paint/render example you gave might be the one I've viewed most frequently >w> and the extra effort is definitely noticed. If it is significantly more time consuming I think we'd all understand wanting to avoid that :3
