My Hero 5x10 FULL REACTION!

Deku's new quirk!

My Hero 5x10 FULL REACTION!

I completely agree. I have MANY paragraphs in a file somewhere on ways to change the show to allow for certain things in a MUCH more organic and less ass-pull way. A lot of them are obvious and others are honestly creative solutions of mine. I understand the difficulty though- of Horikoshi being thrust into the spotlight with a genre defining story and his main strength being in his illustrations, not his writing. For what he's done though, he's made an incredible story that makes him someone I look up to regardless of these shortcomings.

And here we have Black Whip, which I've always thought was Horikoshi's way of trying to give Deku more spiderman-like abilities. I've always been ambivalent about this plot point (OFA suddenly allowing the user to have multiple quirks). I guess it makes sense with the original OFA user's stockpiling ability, but the fact that it didn't manifest w/ All Might who's also quirkless like Deku but physically strongest OFA user just screams plot convenience xD

I feel like what Shinzo’s quirk did is that it puts people’s mind into a meditative state, when he brainwashes people, what he did is probably pulling people’s focus onto his voice. But with Deku’s One for All his conscious is mixed in with the other predecessors of One for All, so when Shinzo tries to brainwash him only his consciousness is put into a meditative state and this allows the other consciousness to come out and be more active (aka Deku is able to tune into his stronger subconscious and see the other predecessors) something like that.

Joan

Midoriya is probably able to connect with one for all through shinzou because shinzou puts him for a while "out of control" from his body. If we think it like living world and spirit world, the vestiges (previous holders) are all dead (except all might) and they are currently in the spirit world inside one for all so when midoriya gets controlled by shinzou its like Midoriya now controls his soul and not his body

zdravko georgiev

the way I was so confused about that the first time I watched it lol but I loved Monoma so I was just like hell yea king go off whatever u say and never questioned it πŸ’€

Void The Rose

Other people already clarified about Monoma's quirk but if you need further explanation just think of it like this: Monoma copies a flying quirk and a fire quirk = He cannot fly and shoot out fire at the same time, it must always be one or the other but he still has both of the quirk so he just has to keep switching depending on what he needs. So yea Monoma also has brainwash and during the times he was goading Deku about bakugo he wasn't using poltergeist that time.. And yay finally we have blackwhip! I always really loved its color scheme and how it looks lol its so cool. When All might first vaguely introduced one for all back at s1 I always assumed that the past quirks will ofc be passed down too so for myself the plot twist was that this was actually the first time that it happened lol I just kinda brushed it off that maybe all the other users were also quirkless bc of how deku or all might just had power and no other quirks for so long haha keep on the theorizing this is just the tip of the iceberg regarding one for all lore~

Void The Rose

Lmao carlie was confusing as heck πŸ˜† love it

wicecakes

Monoma can't USE two quirks at the same time.

Krokus

Monomange better be a running gag

Natsuo Todoroki

I couldn't wait for you guys to watch this episode πŸ”₯

Maya Coleman

Also, there's a weirdly translated line in this that I'm surprised never got fixed. When Monoma and Shinso are talking, Monoma says they're the same because of their quirks and that 'heroes must always act heroically.' The correct meaning is more like 'to be heroes, we must sometimes act unheroically.' Basically, he's saying that both his and Shino's quirks require them to be underhanded or sneaky in order to use them most effectively.

You know, I was going to type out a long comment trying to clarify all the information we got about One For All without spoiling anything, but since several people have already done that (probably better than I could have), I made a flowchart instead lol. https://imgur.com/a/V9JvZDE

Trav

Not enough MonomAngie these episodes 😭😭😭

Naqib _

πŸ‘ I was just clarifying since they had a lot of questions in this episode but looks like they understood most of it after watching ep 11 so it's all good.

Meg

Pretty sure they know it's not a new quirk in general but it is new to Deku and they understood Shinso's quirk wasn't erasing the quirk but in a way can be used similarly if the end result is the quirk not being used.

Greg K

A good way of thinking of how Shinso's brainwashing affects Deku is that it is putting him into a meditative state where he can connect with his subconscious which is why he's able to trigger this for Deku. As for most of your questions about One For All, how the quirk works, and why it's time now these will get answered later on. But Carlie is right, Shimura was the one told it's not time yet. And both All Might and Shimura had dreams about the previous users, they just didn't see them like Deku is seeing them.

Jamie

I usually use OFA and AFO myself xDD

Meg

For the names I call the quirk One for All and the villain AFO

Cap

That's true. Those 40 years plus the 100-ish years it took to go from Yoichi to All Might.

Cap

Also to add that All Might held OFA the longest out of all the users (40 years) before passing it onto Deku, so the power that Deku inherited includes all that was stockpiled in the quirk during All Might's rein as well, which alone would be huge chunk of the overall power of the quirk. That's also likely why the tiny core grew to the perfect size by the time Deku inherited it, hence why he can now "complete" the quirk.

Meg

Long clarification post in coming. Please bear with me lol. So Blackwhip is not a "new" quirk. It's was one of the past OFA (One for All) user's quirk which then merged into the core of OFA, so now it is part of OFA itself. It's like Ange said, blackwhip is now part of Deku's OFA quirk wheel, but it is technically not a new quirk that manifested inside Deku. It's been a part of OFA since the blackwhip user inherited OFA. All Might's sensei (teacher) is Gran Torino while his mentor/master is Shimura who is also the one who held OFA before him. The person who said that "it was not yet time" to Shimura was another past user of OFA. It is not clear exactly what he said and if he gave her any more information other than that since Shimura's dream was not very clear to her. The "time" here likely refers to OFA's maturity. All Might has also seen past vestiges of OFA before as dreams but not as clearly as the one that Deku saw. The guy who visited Deku told him that NOW it is time, meaning within Deku, OFA's quirk factor is nearing it's maturity and becoming one complete quirk with the powers of the previous users' quirks (like blackwhip). As to why it is maturing now, you'll learn that in later episodes. Shinso did not "stop" Deku's quirk the way Aizawa does. Aizawa has the power to stop a person's quirk from activating. Shinso's power helps him to control a person's mind and command them to user or not use their quirk. However in this situation, Shinso's brainwash froze Deku's mind that was in chaos because he couldn't understand or control his quirk, so once his mind froze the quirk automatically receded. Shinso's brainwash also triggered Deku to go further into his mind which allowed him to talk to the blackwhip user's vestige. Shinso and Deku don't have any connection other than him being the first person that Deku gets mind-controlled and that desperation to escape from his brainwash is what led Deku to subconsciously dig deeper into OFA, which led to him seeing the vestiges shadows for the first time. That's why All Might was wary of him fighting Deku again, since he was already a little worried about OFA before the match. All of the other questions you guys have (why is OFA maturing now? was Shinso's quirk given to him? Why did OFA users "skip" All Might etc) will be answered in future episodes so just keep watching hehe^^ Also for Carlie, maybe this will help: One for All - One quirk being passed on to multiple (all) users All for One - A madman who wants ALL quirks for himself (ONE person) I find it easier to remember that the bad guy's name also starts with All since he's basically All Might's biggest enemy xDD

Meg

Monoma hit the nail on the head with regard to your childhood dreams becoming burdens and curses the older you get. As a millennial living in the USA, it hits uncomfortably close to home.

Downeast Beast

also you have no idea how hard I was praying to every possible God that a giant bolt would squash Mineta

Cap

Just a run down of the One for All system with NO spoilers because the anime is kinda vague with details: All Might and Deku are the only currently known quirkless users of One for All. The first user, Yoichi, had the quirk to transfer other quirks. Since Deku is the ninth holder and just got Black Whip this means there are potentially FIVE other quirks within One for All. The reason Deku is unlocking this and All Might didn't is because the power grows. Each user is exponentially stronger than the last. That tiny core they mentioned grows with the power and until now it was too small for the quirk factors inside to actually affect the user.

Cap

Monoma can copy up to 4-5 quirks i believe but he can't use more then one at a time so he has to switch between them.

Aser Studios

Monoma can hold up to 4 quirks at a time, ten minutes each. That's what the stopwatches are for. He can't activate more than one at a time.

Sam Hoyt

Yay we're finally at THE episode!!

Meg

I'm expecting MonomAnge this reaction 🀣
