Yvette!
I drew her initial design on my ipad, I remember very distinctly the feeling of drawing her face and patterns and feeling "there is something to this;. I have never had much experience or success with character design, but every idea for her just felt so natural, so easy that I kept wanting to draw more. She is a crystallization of things I like, I feel more attachment to her as a character and design than most things I've done.
her clothing is aethleisure/rave/casual inspired. Here she isn't wearing a top but you know you'll see lol. I wanted her species to be serval-ish; if someone asked I would say she's a serval, but there are a lot of qualities of raw housecats I imbued her with. Specifically the nose, I love the big serval nose but Colby already has such a big snooter, it felt more right to have hers be smaller.
Idk where to put this, but for sequential work I am so paranoid I will misplace something or it will be overlooked, a classic "goof" if you will. I find myself envious of larger productions which have editors specifically to review things like that. On the topic of that, I also want to shout out Iben Krutt for their help developing this character and working with my on the ideation and review of the comic. They've always been a supportive person and it felt truly exciting int he way that sharing drawings with your classmate would feel working on this and passing things back and forth. She did the initial drawing of Yvette (they selected a pink palette and gave her human-type hair too, I encourage you to go to their page and give it a look.) I loved the vibe of the character she drew, the palette is bespoke too but a slightly different direction than my personal goals with it which is how we got to this current colouration.
Anyways here she is! I have been curious this whole time which character people prefer, I suppose it will become clearer as the story is released. The comic only has these two (designing background characters sounds really scary and hard omg) I'm so curiosu which people might gravitate towards.
