All Creators are being Forced to Switch Billing Methods

As some of you may or may not know, Creators like us are being put into an awkward position by a large company waving around its "I DEMAND YOU FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS OR I LEAVE" card. As of next year at the latest, we are being forced to switch over to subscription billing. This means that, rather than letting you all pay for the number of packs you'd like to out of our 3 packs a month, you will now have to pay a specific amount at the start of each month to continue having access to our paid content.

I've held off on making changes as long as I could in the hoped that things would be fixed and remain the same between Patreon and this company, but it seems they have given up and accepted the company's demands. That said, I would like your input as my community so that I can still provide our quality assets to as many of you as possible, while still keeping WFW sustainable for myself. Below are a few options I'd like you all to select from, that will help me with determining what amounts our subscription tiers will be priced at.

I apologize for how inconvenient this will be for many of you, and I hope we can find a way for everyone to remain happy. While the poll will only remain open for 2 weeks, this post will remain relevant going forward. I will make future progress posts in our Discord as we come closer to finding how we would like to set up these subscriptions.

Please keep in mind the poll is just to give myself and my team an idea of where everyone is comfortable spending wise, it does not necessarily reflect future prices directly.

Thank you all for your support over the years, I hope you'll stick with us for many more to come!

I'll switch to just getting your assets, and maybe 1 or 2 other creators every now and then. I find that your assets are the best for the worlds I wanna create and I love your connection to your community. I would still buy the 7/12/20. But I think 5/10/15 is more reasonable and then maybe you can add an extra tier where its more, for people that can & want to support you extra for maybe a little extra.

As somebody who tried to offer at least "some" support to almost every creator I even remotely could use/enjoy this month is going to be a WotC level Christmas as I have to cut over 70% of my patreons. What i normally pay is around 200 bucks supporting some 75 creators- thanks to this change that's going to total (and i did the math, its ... depressing) almost 475 bucks... which i just flat can't do. I could barely do what I was doing. For me it isn't even about what rewards i get from creators its the fact that no matter what I do, i'm going to have to make sophies choice on over 50 people who's work i love dearly. So while my vote is "I can't afford these" That's relative to _me_. -i- specifically can't. Your assets are some of the best out there, just as high quality as the big names. All i can say is at -some- point I'll be back if I could, and know that its nothing you did. I get the distinguished privlidge of having this conversation with abuot 50 people over the next 7 days -__-; So -i'm- sorry. Your work is incredible and you aboslutely deserve to get an improved rate for your work, it IS valuable. It just sucks that patreon is doing this, and particularly for me, right after a move. I have no time to adjust, its just a crap sandwich. anyway, cheers, GL, and I hope that as many people that can stick around to support. I look forward to coming back as soon as I'm able to and tbh, any of those tiers are valid pricing for your work, speak nothing of the generous quantity thereof you offer.

Ugh. Sorry to hear this. Now we all have to deal with this, too. After all of the recent price-gouging and shrinkflation, I need to re-examine some of my sponsored memberships. I think the real reason corporate overlords use subscription-based billing is 'cuz Bean-counters like patterns and consistency, so if a creator is not on a schedule, it creates CHAOS - perfect for gaming, but not for cashflow and future profit forecasts. Patrons get billed whether they use/download the product or not AND whether creators are on schedule or not - CA$H independent of product or use. Because of this model function, I problably with not continue as a patron, rather, purchase as-needed from CartographyAssets.com, where eventually, everything should end up. As a fellow creator, where and when I purchase assets needs to be on my schedule, not a bank's. You could always push back - have you considered Etsy? I think more digital production creators are using it. Also, setting up your own website with Wordpress (modular functional design) and Easy Digital Downloads (digital-only product store module for Wordpress) allows for both store items and subscriptions, so you could have the same existing setup and funnel your discord traffic to your own site. BTW, Wordpress on Ionos.com (hosting) is about $10/month (EDD module has a free version)., + domain, about $150/year. You could have a Fiverr or Upwork freelancer build it out in a week. Just sayin, CSal90066

Yep. Most are feeling the financial crunch right now and the higher the price goes the less people can hang on. Hobbie subscriptions are usually axed first before Hulu and netflix xD I can't afford to join anyone atm but I like to follow the other artist shinanigans :)

It's frustrating that smaller creators and companies are stuck playing to the devices of bigger ones like this, but our community's strong so I'm sure we'll find a way :/ Doesn't make it pleasant though, I just want to make cool things for people- I don't want to make them pay an arm and a leg for it though... I'm sure many others feel the same.

As a fellow Patreon member and map maker, I feel this. The company in question seems to just continously raise their rates, forcing those who sell things on patreon to do the same. It is now impossible to set any shop item below $3 reguardless of what system patrons use to pay :/
