That's a good point about her season one reaction. That was actually more revealing than I realized at the time

She lost all her family once, got a new one, then lost all but 1 member of that family - when she first thought he died in season 1 she flashed back to her birth family's death thinking "I can't do this again." But it's probably a mix of various things
