Bo and I reread all of One Piece in our manga book club. We're making an animation about One Piece together. And now, Bo has decided to pass on the curse of watching all the One Piece movies to me. Here they all are.

At this rate, I really don't know if there's any way for Oda to properly finish this series that doesn't just involve him not being about to finish it. There would literally be no satisfying answer to what the one piece could be, and has just spent years creating the world's longest "mystery box fallacy"

Everyone feels off model all the time, the biggest case so far being the scene where the group is huddled discussing what to do with the old lady, and we get a back shot of Robin that makes her look 10

2024-02-29 12:43:33 +0000 UTCHonestly kind of incredible that five of these movies actually get a positive score, also very funny that the movies keep making Kizaru threaten to blow up the island under higher orders, considering Egghead right now. AND ALSO Luffy getting bodied early in the arc to show how strong and scary the villain is just so he can then body the villain later considering Wano. Like given what I'm hearing you can't tell me that Oda isn't involved with the movies because otherwise the people writing them would have to be really good at emulating how Oda writes and that's such a devastating negative.

2024-02-27 01:11:45 +0000 UTCI've seen 2 and half OP movies: Baron which was good, Film Red which I had fun with and I liked Ado before watching but it was full of fluff and *shocker* bad writing(Prison of Plastic was way better), and half of Film Gold because I was told by several people it was the best one and I was not enjoying it, the crunchy roll player kept messing up so I stopped and never looked back.

Movie opinions, all pretty on-point as far as the ones I've seen, no objections. (One element of these movies that's usually pretty good even when everything else is a mess is the soundtracks- like, Strong World was a mess and I didn't remember a single thing that happened in it until hearing this recap, but I still get the opening number stuck in my head all the time. Film Gold especially has a really fun soundtrack that's worth listening to on its own, without randos going "UWEHHHH" over it as the Strawhats participate in the least exciting Wacky Races segment you've ever seen in your life.)

I’m sure One Piece is a good series but honestly I feel like it kinda just boils down to “Pirate show with evil government and a million characters” and I can’t follow that. Anyway excited to get the spark notes from this and then your manga review because I’m insane!
