(rain world spoilers!) sunday WIP stuff!! a new animatic with some completed rough animation!!

what you see above is the animatic + some rough animation for a new animation i'd just started! note that the pixelated/low-res/flipnote-y look is purely for the purpose of the animatic, as i've found it helps a LOT with making sure i can only make it look "so good" when i'm supposed to be working quickly anyways, since it'll all get cleaner high-res lineart later down the line..

the week started out pretty doom and gloom with me struggling with burnout and not knowing what to do next Yet Again, but it seems whenever i reach a threshold of Despair, animation always comes back suddenly when i hadn't been able to animate or draw much at all in the months prior..

i've basically completely restructured my mindset when it comes to creative work, where i've sort of accepted the fact that it's probably still gonna be a while before i'm able to finish anything, which ironically may make it easier to finish stuff, but no promises because that kinda defeats the point!! i've taken on a mindset of "it's done when it's done", which takes a lot of unnecessary pressure off of my mind and lets me just focus on making something good!

as for the song in the video itself, it's a mix of two different songs from Garn47 by Floombo!! specifically "Walted Memories"! Floombo's actually the reason i ended up getting obsessed with rain world as of late, given the rain world references in Garn47. i also got to talk to her directly for permission to use these songs! i wanted to ask for explicit permission since Garn47 is a much nicher source than any of the music i've animated before, and i didn't want to use a song the creator has other plans for unless i got permission.. and in the end i got the go-ahead!

additionally, if you're any into Garn47, i'm likely going to be doing some stuff for it at Some Point™, but that's all the information you're getting on that!! i'm keeping it hush-hush when it comes to projects that aren't mine!!!

i think lately i've found that it's been a lot easier to make art for other people than "for myself" in a sense, hence why i randomly started on a Rain World animation.. it's definitely a little self-indulgent, but i also largely thought it'd be cool to dedicate something to someone else's work a good bit more, specifically Rain World as well as Garn47, being something i'd been following on and off since it first made a major appearance last year!

i definitely feel pretty bad for going back and forth between making video games and making animation as my major focus, given that you all likely came here for the animation in the first place, so i do apologize for that. it's probably been a necessary stepping stone in "figuring out what i actually want to do now that i am no longer a teenager" however, since i was actually 17 when i uploaded the "PATREON" animation to YouTube! needless to say, you change a lot between the age of 17 and your 20s, so there's been a lot of self-discovery going on that has been taking very long..
